When it comes to the blind and cut out tongues, this is a tradition of the Way of White. From my observations across the games, these are removed to prevent followers from seeding doubt in the gods. Nico has his tongue cut out, Horace has his cut out too as he was from the Cathedral of the Way of White before it was overthrown by the Deacons of the Deep. Most importantly though is that firekeepers have these afflictions. This appears to be the main purpose for the practice as we know firekeepers when granted eyes can see the lies the gods have done to humans and the logic of the world. Firekeepers also appear to be the instrument to put the undead curse onto corpse as curses in Dark Souls are spoken (Basilisks, Curse Jars, Seath's breath) so it would make sense for disobedient firekeepers to have their tongues cut out. Another point, Velka is the goddess figure of the Way of White and has a miracle called 'Vow of Silence' which fits perfectly with tongues being removed.

If Ocelot & Priscilla are both Gywnyvere's children, and both have invisibility, it must be hereditary. Maybe the item that says "she disappeared quietly", means she quite literally disappeared, hard to see an invisible Queen leaving.

Thank you for the support, friend! And for real, every morning when I'm getting ready for work, and every night when I'm doing dishes and cooking dinner, I'm listening to either Elder Scrolls lore, or Soulsborne lore. It's timeless.

Listening to your arguments I think she is Gertrude. There is something that has made me question the relationship between DS1, DS2, and DS3. This is my opinion and many people have disagreed with me, but think it makes a lot of sense. DS1 is the completed story even if some pieces are missing, DS2 is a proxy that is meant to be a continuation, DS3 is the direct continuation of DS1 that flips and reverses many aspects of itself to link back to DS1 to explain and highlight the story of DS1, such as flying up from the burg to anor londo in DS1 to flying down from the high wall to the settlement in DS3. DS3 uses many items and characters from DS2 to explain and expound on DS1 lore so that it's not inherently excluded but not explicitly acknowledged. One thing that I think is not highlighted nearly enough when talking about DS3 is Gwynevere, Rosaria, and Leonhard, is the similarity between them and DS1's Gwynevere, Fina, Anastacia, and Lautrec. the story is nearly identical one person kills another and takes their soul to Gwynevere's bed chamber. Anastacia is from Astora a land of nobles, and from the divine blessing there is a mistranslation in the princess sun ring, it says heavenly children, but it should be noble children, drawing a connection between Gwynevere and Astora, which is also where the undead legend comes from. Anastacia means resurrection, one of the meanings of Fina can mean white. I believe Gwynevere to be the Aphrodite figure who has many lovers, Venus goddess of love is a goddess of prosperity and fertility. I also believe her to have been married to the Nameless Blacksmith Deity before marrying Flame God Flann. I believe her also to take the name Fina and to have been a lover of Lautrec at one point. If we look at Anastacia and Rosaria they both were mute, though Anastacia was crippled and rosaria is blind. Something that Fire keepers pick up in DS3. I think it is possible that Anastacia was a child of Gwynevere and the same is true of Rosaria who may have been Gertrude at the time. On aside something that many people don't talk nearly enough about is the etymology of the names of many other characters and how they might influence the story.

I had a realization while listening to this. If Gertrude is blind and mute, she would need to read using Braille. How do you read Braille? With your fingers.

Dude good intuition! I think this is not a coincidence, there has to be a reason for why they are called fingers after all

I'd like to see your take on all the angel stuff. We know there are angels, and that the angels are controlled by some weird fleshy monster that grows out of the Londor Pilgrim's shells. We also know undead Clerics wear shells like those to contain the dark. But then it's also implied the Londor Pilgrims can grow into trees, because we see all those tree people in High Wall of Lothric, and those are likely what grow into the Pilgrim butterflies. Maybe there's a connection with the DS2 giants as well, since they also grow into trees?

Velka, Witch of Izalith, Gwynevere, queen of lotheric, and Rosaria are all the same person. The name "goddess of rebirth" , 5 times is a hint at her own transformations. Also, flame god flan is the old demon king. Not sure why, but no one seems to have pieced together that the witch and gwynevere are the same, despite her being goddess of fertility, and having the life lord soul, and all of her miracles restore life. Also, i believe the pyromancy "warmth" shows a transition from miracles to pyromancy, showing that Gwynevere (or those who went with her even) left the miracles behind before joining a new kingdom. The reason the demons are warring with lothric is because they need Rosaria's soul to stay alive, as she is the witch of izalith. Without the bed of chaos they're screwed, and they need what is left of the life lord soul to achieve that. I suspect Rosaria's soul is so withered because it has been fractured a number of times similar to Gwyn breaking off his soul multiple times. No doubt an ability of the life lord soul could be to rebirth oneself perhaps...Maybe that grub on the bed with Rosaria is her next body. Also, you see her powered become more limited as time goes on, from creating the bed of chaos, to merely being able to reshape already existing life. Clearly her powers have been diminished. The one potential hole in this connection, is the witch being the bed of chaos, but i recall an item only hinting at her being killed in that event, not actually being killed. Something about being engulfed in flame, then it says something along the lines of "it is said", making note to point out it isn't objectively fact, but merely rumor. So in order : Gwynevere > Witch > Velka > Queen > Rosaria. I'm not certain which way round Velka and the Witch go for sure however.. Although i'm pretty certain it starts with Gwynevere All 5 have evidence of abilities that alter, reshape life, create life, or restore life. Also, your theory of her jumping ship from kingdom to kingdom also aligns with this. Starting with Gwyn, to Izalith, To the Painted world, to Lothric.

Great video, looking forward to more. You could do a whole series like this just on Rosaria (Rosary or Rose Garden, according to wiktionary,) and the Fingers. Her story is almost exactly the same as Anastasia (simple translation Resurrected, but there's a whole 'enduring and recovering from prolonged torment' component). A carim knight (The Way of White is based in Carim in the third game) murders a saint of the WoW and attempts to take their soul to Gwynevere's Bed Chamber. Both Carim knights invoke the wrath of a Black Eye, both knights seem confident in their righteousness, both knights are taken out by the Black Eye invader after arriving at their destination, both saints are connected to resurrection and rebirth, both saints are possibly related to Gwynevere, BOTH SAINTS HAVE HAD THEIR TONGUES REMOVED, both saints have a peculiar relationship with Patches and another Saint of the White. From there of course there's Heysel, Creighton, Kirk, the Great Heal mangrub to explore, as well as the history and interrelation of the Thorolund White, The post-illusion Gwyndolin White, the Lothric Blue, the defection of the Darkmoon Blades from White to Blue, the erasure of Lloyd and how it relates to the mangrubs possession of Lloyd's charms/talismans, the history of the Red Soapstone and Red Eye orbs and how the Fingers ended up with them, Patches relationship with Carim, Thorolund, and the White, Rhea and the possibility that her family, the head of the Thorolund White, are related to one of Gwyn's children, if not Gwyn himself. Rhea is the name of Zeus' mother, after all, and Gwyn clearly had Zeus-like ambitions when it came to, uh, lets call it 'securing his legacy'. And then THEN, maybe, we can get down to the Important Question: Who or What is the thing on Rosaria's lap?
@sunnbrothers31833 жыл бұрын
The grub on her lap is definitely of interest to me as well, especially considering that it looks so vastly different from the others. The majority of them appear segmented and sleek. Their skin looks squishy, whereas the grub in her lap looks decomposing, even more like the rotting, hollowed head of an angel. I just had a discussion with a fellow on reddit about a week ago regarding the astounding amount of similarities between Rosaria and Anastasia. Its seriously crazy how many parallels there are that I totally missed while making this video. We're thrilled you enjoyed this one, and we are already in the process of starting our next entry into our DS lore series. So sub and keep an eye out for that one!
