If they don't release compatibility cards for both rule sets I'll be disappointed. I'm sure the community will figure iyt out a way if they don't but definitely sours my view of the new core sets.

Sunless City is a good start. Even though you have to print them off at the moment, they do let you use a lot of your core set components in the new campaign system. Unfortunately, I can't see them making old style encounter cards for those people who prefer the original system, which is a shame, because I would love to be able to run the new enemies that way.

The last few expansions I skipped as I haven’t played the game much. My friends know nothing of dark souls and what few times we can get together we play heroquest as we all know and love it. Maybe the wife will be swayed to play. Painted world looks good thanks for a great video.

This new set is such a mixed bag. Its far more approachable than old souls. Less stuff overall and a bit more streamed. The negative stuff is its still very expensive with an odd mix of characters. I see they have announced The Sunless City for 14/02/24

Yeah. I also noticed they have Tomb of Giants and Painted World on sale at £65 each, which I think is a good price for the contents. It would be great if they could just do a campaign Sunless City card pack for those who have the original core.

have you had a chance to play the Sunless City rules? My wife and I love the original so I've been hesitant to get the new core sets

Sunless City is basically a set of encounter cards and event cards that let you swap your core game miniatures into the campaign rules from Painted World of Ariamis (or Tomb of Giants) and at the moment, as I mentioned in the video, I haven't had a chance to use that campaign system yet. Once I have played the campaign in this box, if I really enjoy that experience, I will look at printing out the Sunless City cards. If the Sunless City cards become available to buy, I would probably just order a set regardless.

The 3 heroes is disgusting. The rules update seems good and the campaign seems interesting. The regular enemies look and sound great though. Thanks ABNB

It's a real shame, I think, because it unnecessarily undermines a really great game as it feels like the set is lacking something.

Oooh...! I'd love to see the Heavy Knight flanked by Dread Warriors! Thinking of how to apply these mini's to HeroQuest... Move 6 Attack 5 Defense 5 Body 5 Mind 3

Yeah, the heavy knight is as big as the Frozen Horror so he should definitely have beefy defence and body points. I think he would be quite a challenge.

I believe the player count officially dropped to 3 with the two new core boxes.

The box says 1-3 players because that’s all the box supports but if you read the first page of the rules it says the game is for four players but you need a core set or expansion for the extra character.

Uh oh. It is a good set. There are some things I don't like, such as the new character boards, but as I have the original core box and character expansion I am fortunate to be in a position where that doesn't really matter to me personally. The new enemies are all great.
