The randomizer must have realized that it had dropped a boss with a one hit kill move that can hit the entire tiny arena you fight in and said, okay let's not break the game. Then Luke said, "I don't need want your mercy. I want Dark Souls." And then he received the Darkest of Souls.

He's better than me. I'd have said screw it to the "content" and just taken the free win and been on my way. When I saw the "cursed" appear on screen I realized just how badly he'd miscalculated. I felt bad for laughing at it.

Luke you were correct, the area with all the T-posed enemies isn't really glitched. Those are usually hollows that have lost all will like the ones at the start of the asylum. They never attack, so when replaced with new enemies they obviously also won't attack. Would be a great place to farm seeing as there were two of the Dark Sorcerers who seem to always drop demon titanite.

@@Imperial_Squid Most likely. Randomizers usually keep the AI of the original enemy that was there. I too have zero interest in dark soul in the sense of it being a game I’m interested in playing. The lore is fun and I will say I find the ‘get good scrub’ attention that game collected intriguing from a outside perspective (I have a theory the early no wiki no idea what to do nature eg the ‘chain of pain’ is was more responsible than the actual game difficulty) but I never watch anyone else play this sort of game or talk about them other than Luke and Ellen.

Gripping scenes watching you navigate while cursed. If it helps, with your current kit, if you ever get cursed & are out of purging stones, you can 100% make it to Ingward in New Londo Ruins. He can heal curse, and because of the randomizer, you won't have to deal with the hellish ghost house. Can't wait to see what's in store next, absolutely locked in with this series, as the kids would say.

I guess the vicotry on Seath & Smough is already recorded, so let me comment for the sake of fellow Dark Souls enthusiasts. 0. Being cursed is not such a big deal. Pump up vitality and it should be fine -- not to mention being cursed makes you able to fight ghosts (which can pop up any time in a randomized setup). (Actually, this video inspired me to try a cursed build :) ) 1. Killing this paticular duo should be managable if Ornstein can be killed fast (e.g. with the Zweihander -- he has high lightning resistance. He is the second gargoyle, so there is a window to chop him up (and Seath is relatively slow, so there should be enough time to do the job). 2. You also need a projectile weapon. 3. Seath is blind, so if you go around him constantly, he has NO CHANCE hitting you if you can keep your distance. Just walk around, shoot occasionally -- rinse and repeat until he dies.

I'm imagining how much worse it could have been if he hadn't made sure that key items would not be randomized. I've seen an Elden Ring run that randomized everything, including key items. Took the poor guy ages to get the Academy Gate Key to get into Raya Lucaria. Boss souls/remembrances were randomly scattered around as well and he didn't get a 2nd one needed for Lyendell until he'd managed to get into Raya Lucaria. With DS1, I think randomizing key items would have been too brutal.

@@alexharrison2743 I watched Rusty's Elden Ring randomizer run and I think he didn't get the Raya Lucaria key until after he'd taken the elevator up into Atlus Plateau. I forget where exactly he got it. He got Rennala's remembrance while exploring the academy, so that unlocked Leyndell for him. He didn't do Volcano Manor until the end of the game. He'd gotten into the Haligtree and Margit (or was it Morgott's first phase?) who'd replaced Loretta there dropped the Drawing Room Key, lol. He got to go to all the places, but he went about it in a very roundabout way because of how stuff dropped. He was running around with the Sacred Relic Sword and didn't have the faith to use it properly until he'd unlocked the ability to respec (Maliketh replaced Rennala's phase 1 and Godfrey's 1st phase was in place of her second phase, lmao) to better redistribute his levels. It's an absolute riot to watch.

I work in gamedev so maybe i can explain what happened in New Londo Ruins (and near the bonfire on the bridge). The T-posed hostiles are supposed to be none-hostile hollows. Their code is programmed without movement logic to not engage the player but instead remain stationary and cycle animations on a hollow character model. When the character models got replaced by the unsupported mod, the code was broken and so it didn't know how to animate the model, meaning it just defaulted to a T-pose instead :)

So glad that the lady merchant ended up having 2 stones to sell - and way cheaper than normal too! (1000 vs 6000 souls normally) Honestly if she didn't sell any I was gonna suggest grabbing a few more items from around firelink in hoping luck is on your side - one on the aquaduct that needs to be jumped too springs to mind, or a few items above where the bird's nest is. I watched a streamer do this randomizer and the one key he desperately needed to progress was literally hidden in a spot he forgot existed in firelink, lmao.

Don't know the settings you use in a randomizer, but since it is not item shop thing I think it should still be available Ingward (the guy giving the key to seal in the flooded city under Firelink) can cure curse Apparently you have to have a humanity in your counter, which is covered by a skull, but if you don't have it, using a humanity item should still give you that Granted, you have to get through the city and I doubt you'll meet ghosts, so curse is only detrimental there, but if you get desperate, you could check it out Also if you ever find a clam, you could try farming it for purging stones if they still drop their regular items (again, don't know randomization settings)

When I did my playthrough of DS - as a Very Not Good Player who did a ton of research to alleviate my weaknesses - I spent an awful lot of time hoarding 10 soft humanity (and making a point of actively ensuring I retrieved my bloodstain whenever I died as much as possible to sustain that), it does *wonders* for your curse resistance. With the amount of rats and humanity ghosts you have access to, that might be an option. Can go up to 30 if you need even more resistance before it's capped, but the 1-10 range is huge. 'course, you've still got to do the whole 'winning the fight' bit.

Luke looked at free mandatory progress and a free giant boss tiny arena and he said NO. No there must be more pain. I must drive myself into the pit of despair.

OMG, I've just reached the bugged fight on the rooftop! This is AWESOME, got to stop and go to work now but I can't wait to get back and see what Luke does after he's prodded these chumps to death.

I was excited to see what randomised thing or glitch ruined your day...then when the double boss appeared I thought that was it... but when they didn't fight I got confused. I know I *SHOULD* have found it funny you ruined your own life, and hubris taking you down should be entertaining karma, but that moment before you quit sucked the life out of me and I just stared in a "what have you done" way and was as listless as you for the rest of the vid. Honestly grateful I know that you can power up in other places for ages and that you have a huge amount of personal resilience because it means that I'm certain you'll have it figured out by the end of the series and it will be joyous when you win, but man you weren't lying when you said it was a large challenge 😂 and I can't believe you decided them not attacking was so unfair you had to restart when the odds of getting this exact outcome were so high. Doing it for the content 💖😂

Sure, the reversal of fortune was pretty spectacular, but at least Seath didnt start off immortal!

I look forward to witnessing Luke have to clear out the Depths, Blighttown, Great Hollow, Ash Lake, Darkroot Garden and Basin, Catacombs, Tombs of the Giants, Petit Londo and the Demon ruins, before he can tackle the impossible fight of a Seath + Ornstein teamup on a sloped rooftop that is just about the same size as Seath's tail-span
