Dark Stains In Carpet Removed With Oreck Orbiter

Really bad stains removed by bonnet cleaning with Oreck Orbiter and Oreck Bonnet Pad (see links below).
This carpet has been scheduled and delayed a couple of times in the last six months, and this will be the third cleaning since these tenants have moved in.
The carpet is exceptionally dirty, and has been seen in a prior video, when it was cleaned with the Rug Doctor X-3 (at the following link)

At the time of cleaning the family was sick with the stomach flu, so they are in the background making a lot of noise throughout this video so please try to ignore this aspect.
This carpet is a good example of how some stains and damages are not fixable, and when cleaning, you can only do so much, so don't feel responsible if you can't make everything perfect.
In this instance, the tenant doesn't care about the carpet at all, they only clean it to keep from getting written up, so it's their fault that it is in it's deplorable condition.

Looks like it was past the point of a solo bonnet cleaning. Seems like it needs an extraction after the bonnet. Great job though.

bebegurl31291 You should see it when we did extract it last year! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5ebhn6ciMSmgtE Believe it or not, when we have followed up bonnet cleaning with extraction, it hasn't gotten enough extra dirt to be worth the effort, and the carpets take a lot longer to dry. We've cleaned this one a couple of times before this, and before the current tenants moved in. But usually most of the stains come out, but cigarette burns and other permanent damage always keep it from being perfect. One thing to point out is that the camera see's things (artifacts and what not) that we don't see in person. The camera enhances things like moisture, showing dark smudges that aren't visible to the naked eye. I see this all the time on other peoples carpet cleaning videos as well, and though things seem to be blatantly obvious in the video, the people on scene can't see it. But moisture, which shows up easily on camera, disappears. Trust me, on this carpet the finished result was very impressive, but the video, when I reviewed it later was less impressive. That's how it goes, and is the negative aspect of digital video and how it displays carpet when damp. Thanks for watching the video, and for the opinion. I understand that people don't see the actual carpet and often the video doesn't truly do it justice. You noticed the same things I did, and if I hadn't seen the actual job done, I would say the same thing you did. Hopefully in the future I can get a more accurate camera, as this current one has a lot of trouble with ambient light, in this instance an overly bright exposure from the sun coming right through the window... So, is it just buffing in the dirt though? If your not sucking up dirty schmutz, it seems like it's just being mushed around...of someone sees it differently please tell me differently, I want to. Eleven this is the answer to my prayers!

It picks up the material that made the stain. You have to use some sort of cleaning chemical and apply it (mixed with water) with a garden sprayer moderately to the carpet. The chemical helps to break the bond of the stain to the carpet fibers and suspend them in the liquid (water and chemical). When you come along with the machine, the carpet bonnet (which is very absorbent and has scrubbing strips designed into it) picks up the loosened material, and strips the remaining stain that is stubbornly sticking still to the fiber, and absorbs it as well. This is a low moisture method that can be used when carpets need to be dry in a couple of hours. The bonnet fills up with the dirt that made the stains, and the bonnet can be washed in a sink with the sink sprayer and all the dirt is flushed down the drain. During the cleaning process, you can either rinse the bonnet when it is filled, or place down a fresh bonnet. One thing is that before doing any of this you first want to vacuum really well with you vacuum cleaner to remove loose dirt and debris. This method doesn't utilise the high volumes that a traditional extractor uses to flush dirt out, so dirt gets removed by a vacuum cleaner leaving just the stains to be dealt with by the carpet bonnet. This method scrubs the carpet deeper than a carpet washer does, so it cleans the fibers a tad better, and the carpets dry quickly.

How does this differ from truck mounted cleaners? Is there a difference and how would I price a job?

No heat, pressure spray, or vacuum with a bonnet cleaning machine. Truck mounted equipment, or box extractors, or self contained extractors (which have a brush) all utilize higher volumes of water, generally, and spray water ahead of a suction port to flush the carpet fibers. Some have a brush in between to agitate as well. The Oreck Orbiter scrubs the pre-spray and absorbs into the bonnet. Much less water is used. Soil, and particulates that won't be absorbed by the bonnet have to be removed by vacuuming, usually before the cleaning, but sometimes after. There are rotary tools (Rotovac etc) for truck mounts that help greatly improve agitation, and make the two methods more similar, but a bonnet is generally more aggressive (while gentle at the same time) at scrubbing the fibers. There are two camps here which usually don't place nice with each other, though some individuals use both methods, depending on the situation. From an initial investment aspect though, bonnet cleaning is far, far more affordable to get started in. It's like comparing a motorcycle to a semi-truck. Both can get you from A to B but they do it completely differently, and really can't do it the same at all.

You did a great job, I am a old carpet cleaner, I can tell you know what your doing. Even though you don't have a lot equipment, it is the operator that makes the difference.

Take one sick family (stomach flu), and one sick carpet, and Viola! Except for the background screaming, and coughing, and who knows what else, this is a great carpet cleaning video. Some really bad long set in stains that had to be wrestled with...enjoy!
