Some of the action is inspired by Terminator 2. The Darktrooper punching Din's helmet is taken from the t-1000 slamming the iron girder over and over into t-800's head. The spear into the darktroopers neck to decapitate it is a nod to t-800 removing his crushed arm with a metal pole.

John Williams was experimenting a lot with the music as well, just listen to some tracks from New Hope (especially on Tatooine it's... strange, almost cacophonic even). So ironically he'd probably be less surprised back then rather than after the films more or less established how SW should sound like.
