Northern Songs owned the Beatles publishing. ATV acquired it without Paul’s knowledge. Then it went up for bid. Paul tried to get Yoko Ono to go half on the bid. Yoko didn’t want to. Paul could have bought it by himself, but he wanted John Lennon’s family to get a piece. Michael didn’t just take the Beatles songs. He simply outbid everyone else. He even told Paul that he was going to get the songs, and Paul thought he was kidding

Michael wasn't the highest bidder. But he was willing to pay at once, in cash. The highest bidder wanted to pay by installment. They decided to sell yo MJ cause his way was quicker and less complicating

When people make the rich list for musicians. Many don't realize that when Michael Jackson was alive. He was by FAR the richest recording artist that ever lived. His 50% share in that catalog that they targeted him for. Was worth 20 BILLION dollars. From the moment he acquired that catalog in 1985. They turned on him. And it was get it back by any means necessary. And we know how that ended.

He own half of so y in its entirety including all of country western music. Sony was so pissed at MJ for calling up LilRichard and giving him back his publishing for free. I wonder who controls the King of Rock & Roll’s catalog now. It probably reverted back to some sleeze.

Mj made a smart business move by turning turning that 47.5 million investment from 1985 into 1 billion dollars his estate sold it all for between 2015 and 2017, the millions in income from fees it brought him during the decades he owned it, and now still retains just his own catalog of music which is priceless itself. And it also worked out for McCartney as starting in 2018, he was able to regain the rights to his earliest Beatles music under U.S. copywight law without having to spend millions like MJ and Sony did and will regain his whole Beatles catalog by the year 2027. So in a way, it has now worked out for everyone and Paul has no real basis to be mad at anyone but himself for originally selling that catalog of his back in 1967.

Wording is very important. Yall keep getting it twisted, MJ DIDNT own half of Sony ATV, Sony owned half of MJs ATV Catalogue. Its the other way around. Once upon of time, MJ owned the ENTIRE catalogue and sold half of it to SONY for Double what he purchased it for. Thats unbelievable!

For those who are going to bring it up (or have brought it up already), Jackson only ever owned just a couple of Eminem's songs, not his entire catalogue.

This is why they started to wreck his career with orchestrated character assassinations starting in 1993. This was backed by the big power institutions as Michael was deemed a threat to National security because of the unprecedented international power of his image as a public figure and humanitarian. Michael did not sign up to be controlled, he was difficult to control and waged war directly on the power sphere through his music, thus also lead to his destruction as they tore apart his image with every resource they had available to them and as they owned the media, this was nearly done. But even with all the power they had, Michael just didn’t seem to destruct as easily as they hoped and went on to sell out This is it tour just before his death with his reputation in tatters it was still the fastest selling concert of all time in 2009. He was just about to finally be out of contract with Sony as a result of the new income he was set to earn hundreds of millions which would have undone all the damage they did to him through financial means. And there you had it, a matter of months before Michaels Sony contract ended which would have lead to him taking back his artistic assets in full, whilst still owning half of Sony’s other publishing, he dies suddenly in mysterious circumstances leading to Sony owning everything eventually by faking the will making one of Sony’s lawyers the executor of MJs estate (a man once employed by Michael but sacked when Mike found out he was an insider for Sony). Anyone interested in making a documentary about this please get in touch as I know the full story of why Michael Jackson was the last truly open artist to ever live, and why they went on to punish him even in death as a lesson to other artists who dare to deviate from the control grid and take their own political path using their art as a channel

I thought it was wack as all hell that the estate sold this shit to Sony after he died. He fought tooth and nail to keep it, and even lost promotion and tour funding for the Invincible album because of his refusal to sell
