I never beat the final boss. I got bored on the giant level previous to the final boss and was annoyed that you can't re-use the same party on the final missions. Thought that was a cheap way to lengthen the game.

You can change the setting for that, the game sets it to strict for normal and hard

@@eddieg4858 at a penalty to 80 stress, so unless you can then abuse some weird stall, and virtue goes down to 1%, yeah for that is why dd2 is superior (its easy to say dd1 is better with massive mods)

The "herald/avatar" is often the chosen or physical manifestation to the mundane realm we live in from outer god. and the fact ancestor calls himelf avatar/herald of the crawling chaos (nyarlethotep, "the crawling chaos", the heart and soul of the outer gods, the one that carrys their will) in the last fight we slay the projection of the ancestor and he becomes the living beating heart of the world. Does that mean we actually slayed outer god? or just it's attempt to manifest in the mundane realm? curious sines i do recall nyarlethotep having ability to just mainifest anywhere at anytime, the only outer god that can pass the barrier on whim on the condition it has to feed the center of the universe in order to keep it passive. did we just doom ourselves by killing nyarlethotep? and as azathoth is nolonger kept fed, so it's gonna awaken in near future.

While darkest dungeon takes inspiration from lovecraft mythos, they're not one-to-one, it's safe to assume that the heart of darkness is different from nyarlethotep despite sharing monikers.

​@@electrotoxins It's pretty much explained in the end cinematic. The planet is the egg of a deific monster. Humanity, and all life, is an offshoot of its 'cells'. Destroying the heart delays, but does not stop, its hatching.

There is no healer. I went into this fight intentionally leaving a healer out. Instead of trying to recover from damage, my strategy was to mitigate/avoid it.

I've played this game so many times without Vestals that I didn't notice anything weird but comments section made me realise that people actually try to play this game "defensively". Guys, you don't have to heal your team if enemies are dead in first turn. Pick classes that can heal but also deal some decent damage/have utility. Vestal is the worst class in this game and it's definetely not needed every run.

Vestal camp buffs and stuns are pretty good? I can't imagine using only damage dealers when you can have one utility hero like vestals

It's not that she's "bad" per se, she's really good in her specific niche, but newer players just tend to not use her as proactively, like, instead of stunning an enemy to prevent it from dealing damage entirely, they'd probably be more inclined to heal off the damage being dealt to them. I'm not saying every new player plays like this and I don't want to berate anyone who plays this way, but it's just my way to show how people tend to just relegate vestal as just the heal bot of your team.

you are just trying to be some edge lord. but everyone has heard it a million times. and we all know vestal is a great pairing. there is a reason it is also very popular. the stuns and buffs along with the sustainability of both life and stress heals is legit. and jester can dps and add bleed as well.

Yeah sure Antiquarian is far better than Vestal I guess
