I really want to rejoice in the return of Duality, but... This new DG form factor is a total disaster and it's baffling they keep them coming. Back plate controls for essential parameters like signal blend is precisely what I do NOT want on a pedal board.

Agreed. Blend settings are so venue specific. It's a stupid design.

I could live with it if Darkglass used a regular blend setup, but the main volume knob just controls the fuzz level. I much prefer a common blend and master volume where I can set my ratio and forget it, then just adjust the overall volume with one knob.
@nongrataaz Жыл бұрын
The Duality needed a master volume, as (for me) the perfect gain structure on the Duality was often resultingly too loud and unplayable. What we needed was a Duality Ultra, not a mini

Kudos to The Bass Channel team for another stellar comparison demo! The two Duality iterations sound very near identical, although I think I noticed a slight low-midrange bump (and perhaps a little more compression) on the DFZ. Certainly not a big difference - I barely registered it in this isolated demo - but perhaps something a longtime Duality user might pick up on. Personally, I think the DFZ would benefit by having its blend and level controls on the front panel (with Duality and Filter being the hidden pots), given how those are the more commonly adjusted parameters live. I personally am indifferent about the new line of "mini" pedals, so Darkglass politics aside, I'm happy to see the Duality circuit back on the market (even if it might leave a few features to be desired). ;)

This new aesthetic looks like a $20 pedal from Amazon, and the removal of essential controls to the back under a plate put right where you'd normally put Velcro literally makes zero sense. The community asked for the Duality back, not a half-baked reboot that's harder to use. Yes, they sound virtually identical, but it takes more work to get those sounds from the DFZ because of constantly removing the backplate. This is literally Korg using the Darkglass name for a cash grab. I know it's harsh, but that's the reality.
@quantumechanical2 жыл бұрын
I really don't get this line of pedals. The size is not compact enough to compensate for trapped controls. This is a pedal for a set and forget only.

duality but; Blend - Master - Fuzz Duality - Low - Mid - High and then add Grunt&Bite switches essentially the original alpha omega layout, and the level controls the overall output instead of just the distortion (this is horrible for quiet basses, because the blend cant keep up with the clean signal)
@TheMytherian2 жыл бұрын
I prefer the duality on every example except with the Dingwall, which is the only bass I have from this lineup
@mokotoko60042 жыл бұрын
The Og duality wins in looks and on the fly functionality . Korg should have just shrunk the pedal snd used smaller dials that lock in place when pushed in. Pull the small dial out to adjust setting, push back in to lock 🔐 🎉

I will never understand the Fanfare of darkglass pedals and believe me I've tried. I've owned about six of them and ended up selling them all in futility. But taking the one pedal that might actually sound like a regular based distortion pedal and ruining the form factor is beyond me.
@gary999t2 жыл бұрын
I have the Duality pedal and I think DG have got the semi-fixed controls correct with this one but bet there's lots of people that disagree. Probably should just re-issue the Duality pedal as well and let the market decide if the accessible blend and filter are worth the extra cost and space.

@@Farewelltokingz Yeah I’m aware of what he was referencing but I am thinking Hysteria is likely more popular. Pulling Teeth is mostly popular with Metallica and metal fans in general.
