Testing the pedal with different basses is brilliant. If you could also test with different amp that would be perfect. The type of amp you use with different amps makes a massive difference.

Piece of advice from an audio engineer: NEVER use a kick drum mic on a bass cab! They have a very sculpted frequency response designed to boost the boom and click frequencies in bass drums, and don't sound good on tonal instruments. Some much better mics to use on bass cab: EV RE-20; Shure SM-7B; Heil PR40.

The b7k has the same overdrive plus a very good eq section. It depends on your needs

if you satisfied with your bass tone then go for B3K, I've tried all darkglass pedal and their middle series always have one something missing . If you want really good darkglass pedal then go for ultra series .

The B7K is great for an always on pedal for a distorted tone. I use the B3K because I like the sound of my clean preamp and this works perfectly along with it when I want some distortion.

Damn. I have the alpha omicron but I really want the b3k now. I could use this for overdrive sounds and the alpha for distortion. Apparently there’s a difference between overdrive and distortion. Low key just figured that out 😅

It depends on how much you need from it. If you’re looking for just distortion, the B3K will serve you well. If you need more advanced EQ options, go for the B7K.

The B3K is an overdrive while the AO is an distortion pedal. I use both with my ampeg scr DI pre amp. Very gnarly tone👍🙂

Elmer Vestidas They're both overdrives, so in that sense I suppose you could say that they deliver the same effect, but they both sound different. Either one is a solid choice, it's just a matter of figuring out which works better for you.

They sound different, but most the b3k is an overdrive and it goes from nearly nothing, just a bit of warmth, to hard overdrive. Alpha omicron, with drive set to minimum, is dirtier, and obviously can go way more dirty at maximum. It's more a distortion one. For may tastes, the best is b3k set with a bit of overdrive to warm up the base sound then an alpha omicron to get it dirty at your taste and need

hai bang same drive, but v2 is better due to a being a bit better with options. Grunt switch is no longer 3 way, but the 'thin' option sucked anyways. The attack switch being replaced by a tone knob makes sense too...wider range. Mid boost is a nice enhancement...

I do really like the attack switch in the boost setting but I'm curious about the mid boost button, trying to decide between trying this or getting an A/O series.
