One minor question and possible tip for others (if i can somehow find it). I play with Mouse and keyboard, Changing the radial menu (which requires quite some buttons) to a more mouse and keyboard friendly option is ingame, However everything i can find online points to an option that is rather absent on my game. It should be between "customize radial menu" and "equipment info" when you press escape.

Two more tips; 1. In Game settings > Page 2 > Camera & Scoutfly Settings > Do Not Track. This makes the snapback of scoutflies disable so the camera doesn't suddenly snap to the direction they are going. 2. in Camera settings > Page 3 > Dynamic Camera Setting > Off/Disable. This disables the dumb zoom function on the camera when-ever a new monster joins the same area and other dynamic moments the camera might do for "immersion" but it takes control away from the player.

One thing about camera distance - how big a difference it makes, is highly dependent on which area you're in. You're in a transitional area in most of that clip there, and so it makes a difference of only a couple of steps - but when you're in a big area fighting, it scales a lot farther.

So I wasn't the only weirdo who doesn't lock on monsters. I played all FromSoftware games, but in Monster Hunter I think is better without using it. It's easier for me just follow the monster with the right joystick, It helps me a lot when I want to reposition and attack. I think the difference is, in Dark Souls and similar, you want to focus on the boss, but in Monster Hunter, you want to focus on the weak spot (head or tail) and the surroundings of the monster.

The thing that makes locked camera garbage compared to fromsoft or darksoul's camera lock isn't actually the camera itself. Its the player's orientation relative to the target, see in dark souls when you lock-on to a boss, your character is also locked on meaning you will always see your character's back (you can still turn around if you sprint). but in MHW, only your camera is locked so when you move, your character will still face the direction of your movement and not on the target which means you still have to look at your character in order to check where he/she is facing making it harder to play.

This isn't related to options or anything, but I like to organize my radial menu depending on what the items in question are. The top group I have as healing items, stuff like potions and status healing items. The right I have as buffs and multiplayer support (so Dust of Life, Armorskin, Demon powder, Dash juice). The bottom I have tools and traps, so stuff like Raider Ride, mantles, traps, and tranqs. And the left is just misc stuff that doesn't really fit in other categories (or there just wasn't enough room), like flash bombs and rations. Though I'm mostly a melee weapon user, and when I'm a gunner I use bow which doesn't have very many coatings so I don't really need to make any changes to the radial menu for it. But someone with a bowgun might want to have a section partially or completely devoted to ammo types. I'd also really recommend making item sets. It might take a while to do both of these things, but the time saved in the long run cannot be overstated. I dunno this might seem obvious to a veteran player, but it might be helpful for beginners. It wasn't very long ago that I was a complete beginner myself. Monster Hunter is kinda complicated at first blush, but it's so rewarding to get into, even if you have to consciously practice at it.

Here I was thinking I was the only one that used Directional Control Type 2. For people who have never used it before it can be extremely confusing and seemingly inconsistent but I don't know if I could play without it at this point as I have the lance super hop ingrained as Back+X in my muscle memory. A quick explanation for how it works if anyone's trying to get a grasp on it. Your hunter is essentially in one of two states: free movement and animation locks (names which I've made up just now). Free movement is when you aren't attacking or rolling or in other special animations, while animation lock is obviously when you are attacking, or more importantly in the recovery animation for an attack (or during a hop in the lance's case). With control type 2 it is easy to roll in the wrong direction after an attack unless you're consciously aware of the direction your hunter is facing and whether or not you're locked in place. With enough practice you can do it consistently without any thought, and using direction input specific attacks (like the SnS back hop you demonstrated, and the Charge Blade SAED cancel mentioned in another comment) won't be tied down to the direction your camera is facing anymore. It's pretty great.
@BorrasitoTakaTaka10 ай бұрын
That was a great explanation, however I'm DB main so this config seems that will mess up with my slinge dodge shots but I will try it let's see what happens.

It doesn't works well with insect glaive, found it messing up my air vault directions
@Zulban486 ай бұрын
@@1yu8omir Being able to set it individually by weapon would be neat but I don't expect that to happen. I don't play Insect Glaive so I can't personally vouch for whether control type 2 works well with it or not, but any time the camera is not behind your character is where you'll likely need to use a bit more brainpower to think of what direction you need to dodge, and if you're reactively dodging then the extra split second it takes to process what direction to hold the stick in could get you hit. I still use it anyways despite this, it's personal preference, and I guess I've gotten pretty used to it by now.

One more setting I personally find annoying and that you should turn off is the slinger lock on. It's what automatically locks your slinger onto specific monster parts when you aim in their general direction. This sounds nice, but to me is super annoying because it can mess you up when trying to shoot stuff above the monster, like the many environmental traps the game has. It also sometimes makes you aim at a spot you don't want when shooting a monster, which is especially annoying with the clutch claw. In my experience, turning off slinger lock on is just much better. The game feels like it actively tries to mess up your aim sometimes with the setting on.
@darkhero211 ай бұрын
I don't personally feel that problem but maybe that's because I play on controller
@Andrew-hz5zc11 ай бұрын
@darkhero2 I play on controller too, and personally it used to be the bane of my existence lol. But maybe I'm misremebering how bad it was since I haven't played with the setting on ever since I discovered it could be turned off. My two biggest annoyances with it (from what I remember) are hitting overhead environmental traps when the target just wants to tether to the monster wing, and hitting moving targets, since the auto-target only cares about where the target is, and not where it's going to be. So locking on to a part is really annoying then, when you want to shoot slightly ahead of something. Ultimately, I just find the increased freedom of aiming to be way more comfortable, and it helps to reduce a lot of mistakes that the auto-aim would otherwise cause. But maybe it's just a preference thing.

Good advices. Only the first 2 already made this video worth, the others are good also.

About the button guide and all other button pictures. While you can connect a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to the Steam/PC version, there are no buttons for that controller. This is due to base World coming out before the Switch. Steam automatically gave me Xbox controls. Through me remapping buttons, for a long time I played Monster Hunter with the face buttons reversed (look at Switch PC versus an Xbox controller). I know mods are a touchy subject, but there is a mod that replaces all button prompts with a Switch Pro Controller in mind. Really hoping that if I decide to play World more that I don’t get banned or something for that mod. The mod helps me out!

Loved the video! But also what is umm the setting that has the big flashy indicator of like drops and stuff?? I noticed it in the video but uncertain where to find that setting in game. I changed like 90% of my settings after this lol

How do you change your dropped material icons? I’ve seen them as paw prints and other things. Is that a setting I can change or is that some type of in game purchase?
@jonadeleon871911 ай бұрын
I still need to know how you’re able to display an icon on what items are on the floor and how to display an icon on what monsters are weak to before starting a quest 😭
