My only concern with the P41 is the QLC NAND. For bulk storage drives that will do more reading than writing, they're amazing and quite accessible, but for someone that needs to do some heavy working with their drives, moving large files, or activities that involve a LOT of writing to the drive, that could be an issue. And I mean, 400TBW or 5-year warranty on the 1TB P41 Plus is kinda "okay", but if you're sure you'll be writing more than 7TB worth of data per month (which is possible in some cases), might as well move to the P44 for that extra bit of TLC reliability (and the extra 350TB TBW threshold on the 1TB model).

i mean almost any modern ssd now is qlc. even Samsung 980 pro whatever have horrible endurance. if you need the endurance, then you know you need it, and you'll buy a drive accordingly. qlc isn't really a negative of this SSD when every SSD on the market in this price range is basically the same.

From cheapo WD Blue SN570, TeamGroup MP33 Pro, Mushkin Tempest, Patriot P300, ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro over the good old Samsung 970 Evo (and Evo Plus), KIOXIA (Toshiba) Exceria G2, TeamGroup MP34, Corsair MP600 GS, Samsung 980 non-pro and pro, ADATA Gammix S70 Blade, WD Blue SN580, WD Black SN850X.... there's a metric fckton of TLC drives out there. One should only ever consider QLC for giant (4TB upwards) semi-cold storage drives, if at all. Unless of course you really like suffering (run out of pseudo-SLC cache? welcome to 50-80MB/s... slower than mechanical HDDs)

There's the Teamgroup T-Create Classic PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive (TLC NAND with DRAM) that has a endurance rating of a whopping 3600 TBW with a 5-year warranty and is actually cheap.

I've been using only Intel/Solidigm enterprise-class SSD's for over a decade now as system boot drives & never had issues with them. My oldest ones are still alive & in-use today in various ways& all have 100% health & 97-98% TBW endurance left on them still. My recent 2024 build is my first PC build using a M.2 NVMe SSD boot drive instead of a 2.5" SATA SSD, so I went with the Solidigm P44 Pro 2TB SSD this time around.

It looks like different tests were run at 11:15, there's the default test set which is what was used for the competitor drives and an NVME test set which he used for the Solidigm drives That being said I have the 2TB P44 Pro and it's an extremely solid drive, my scores are better than shown here

I bought the 1TB for my first AM5 build. It's a 5 second boot with windows 11. It's lightning fast. Got mine on Amazon for $35 and wish I bought two.... They are $40+ now before taxes. 😅

In your DRAM based four SSD comparison, the SN850X is showing as TBW 600. This is incorrect: 1TB = 600, 2TB = 1200, 4TB = 2400. Great job reviewing the Solidigm NVMEs... definitely adding these to my list of favourites!!

Since you distinguish between 1TB/2TB models for the P41 Plus in read/write but not for the other NVMEs, please recheck the SN570. The 2TB model is an SN770 in disguise. Is has the same NAND as the SN570 2TB model and the same controller as the SN770 1TB model. It performs vastly better than the lower-capacity SN570s. Due to the upgraded controller it also got rid of the tiny static 12GB SLC cache in favor of dynamic full-capacity (1/3 of free space left) SLC like the SN770 and SN580.

Last year when I built my wife and I both a 5950X system, I used 2Tb S70 drives in them. So far, rock solid drive and fast enough for our needs. For a brand I hadn't used before, I'm impressed so far.

I need 4Tb variants! Even SK Hynix wont release their own in house drives at that capacity and higher, as well as a few other actual chipmakers I've noticed. Gotta go to the third parties making drives with their tech and hope those 3rd parties don't throw a wrench in what should be awesome.

I bought the P44 Pro 1tb version a month or two back for my new build. I paid about £84 for it from Scan. Hope it is a good decision. I was going to go with the Western Digital SN850X 1tb drive but it costs too much.

I ALMOST grabbed a P44 the other day simply bcuz IK Solidigm is Intel's SSD division post buyout by SK Hynix, and they are priced VERY well comparatively, but I went with the Sabrent Rocket 4 plus G, Simply cuz the drive I am installing is intended SOLELY for gaming. Ill eventually replace my system drive with one of these more than likely, tho. Rn my Desktop is using the SK Hynix gen 3 drive that came in my Asus ROG G14 (2021 Model) from factory. IK Hynix and Intel both are on top of their game with SSD tech and IK it cannot be a "Bad" drive considering the wealth of storage knowledge between these two absolute Titans in the SSD space... So this will 99% likely be the next drive I buy, maybe not the model depending, but def will be a Solidigm Drive bcuz theyre so well priced its hard to argue an alternative.

To take advantage of the P41 you really need the driver which means Windows. I will probably use a P41 on my next Windows build. Only £37 at the time of writing.

Hi all. I purchased a P41 Plus 2TB to use in an enclosure so we always have our important files with us. I installed it into a Sabrent EC-SNVE enclosure. However I've never been able to get over 40MB/s read or write speeds. I've tried it with 2 Windows machines and a MacBook Air M2. I've contacted Solidigm and after deep questioning about the quality of my machines they stated they don't support them for enclosures. They just pretty much washed their hands of me. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? TIA!

SSDs in enclosures are limited by the bandwidth of the connector(usb3, 3.3, usb-c, USB4) and even then, they run slower. nothing really beats a direct pcie connection.

@@russtewell9776 yes for random reads, this ssd should be able to get 40MB/s +- 4MB/s. Check what is the USB standard for your enclosure. For best results use a USB4/TB3 enclosure, the next best thing is USB 3.1 Gen 2.

It’s just rebranded SK Hynix. Mostly used in Lenovo and IBM-Servers. Probably far more reliable, then the Samsung and Western Digital stuff.
