What confuses me is if you are trying to teach people to make their own patterns, why are you doing it in Illustrator which is probably the most expensive program on the market. Otherwise its a great video.

Because I use Illustrator. It's Illustrator or nothing... because that's what I use. It's not like I just learned Illustrator today in order to make a video. If people want to use another free or less expensive program I don't have any reason to learn it just to make a video on it, that's about as big a waste of my time as I could possibly imagine.
