Hope to see many more of Phil’s awesome shows on here or anywhere since he has passed away. His show was so good.

@dannyboimadonna : Because Phil Donahue comes from the old school.. coming from and older generation of midwestern Irish Catholic values.. I give him lots of credit as he adjusted to become a lot more open than his parents and background. He married Marlo Thomas who came from the turbulent 1960's and I believe has had feminist values since then..

His comment about fathers not taking responsibility is bizarre and covers his own issue.

@@LynnEllingwoodHis own issue? That is an ignorant statement. Phil raised all of his sons after his divorce in 1975. His sons lived with him; not their mother. No, he was not one of those men but he spoke the truth about many men in that era and still today.

Welcome to television of the 80's no more no less. It was what it was.

Was that woman chewing gum while asking Cher a question?

I really disliked a lot of these 80's talk shows like this where people asked questions. The audience always asked either accusing, judgemental, or stupid and inane questions, without fail all the ones I've seen.

It was a different time. I do agree. This type of talk show would not work today. Privacy in this era is of utmost importance. Stars used to divulge a lot about themselves and their personal lives. It was Phils time to have this show. He would not have had this show in this era. It was his time and the shows time back then. And it worked wonderfully. Cher is really lovely here.

Loved the 80's! It is what it is. None of this, "hurting someone's feelings" bullshit.
