Darklings & Darkling Elders: Fey who $%#^ed around and FOUND OUT!!! (D&D Compendium of Monsters)

Darklings are an intriguing Feywild creature because they create more questions than answers the more you think about their existence. These fey explode when they absorb too much light, which begs the question: can a player character cause a darkling or darkling elder to explode with a Daylight spell or similar magic? How long would such a process take? WIZARDS!!! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS AND NOT ENOUGH ANSWERS!!! :(((

In D&D terms, a particularly bright full moon casts dim light, while most nights are considered full darkness, so a Darkling is going to be fine 27 nights of the lunar month.

It says in Volo's Guide to Monsters, Darklings cover their entire body to protect themselves from light. I would venture to guess they could wear enough garments to protect themselves from lights that are less than or equivalent to a torch. I like to make a DM assumption that the light is only absorbed by skin. Then I also would assume the Darklings would put a thick black paste around their eyes. This allows them to survive in the shadows and the night.

I basically played as a young darkling Elder Who was cursed From another Elder this went wrong and instead of the rapidly aging from Light I could go into it and every 2 days i got 1 level of exhaustion it was really hard (if my English is a little bit on the Bad side i am sorry)

Your English is perfectly fine! That's a fascinating approach for your DM to take. How were you able to drop the levels of exhaustion? Did a long rest solve it, or did you need to spend time away from the sun?

Point of note, Dubh Catha and Dubh Sith are taken from Irish/Scottish Gaelic. Dubh Catha is pronounced 'Do Ca-ha' and Dubh Sith should be pronounced 'Do Shay'.
