Huge fan of the show. Finally read the first book. I love getting more insight to him and how the dark passenger is basically a character in the novel.

Despite *literally hallucinating* Harry, Dexter from the show does seem more in control huh? xD

@TheLockedTome yes. Having a handsome and charming actor play him makes him very likeable in the show. In the book he tortures his victims and he feels like more of a antagonist than an anti hero protagonist.

Thanks for the video, very insightful. I never looked into the books since watching the show way back when, and surprisingly there aren't many videos going over the books that I could find. So this is appreciated. And yes, there are clear improvements in your drawing since. Namely the shading, it's fantastic. It was interesting to see it all come together. And as for getting faster at the whole drawing process, I think that there are certain things that hold us back (I say "us" because I have the same pacing issue and I draw in an almost identical manner as you) are things like uh,, I think it's called "chicken lines" or something? And not using things like, say, paint fill, maybe? These things tend to hold up the overall process in ways that don't need to be as complicated. So, like, instead of painting in the empty space with a brush, you could paint fill first and work in the shading afterwards. And instead of doing short bursts with your linework, you could do longer strides. Practices like these tend to save time, and are a valuable discipline, according to many art teachers I've looked into. So, there's that, I suppose. But I'm sure there are even more aspects that can be improved upon in order to speed up the process, too. Just gotta look into this stuff and practice.

OMG yes, I didn't even TRY using Photoshop like a digital app, it was "my brush is a paint brush and it makes this colour" or just "blends", *all on one layer* lol there was no efficiency xD Thanks! I've kind of gotten better at thinking about things that way, not that I've done much art since. I see that there really is a gap in comprehensive reviews on books vs movies, I just wish I had the time to make those sorts of videos (:

I’m a big fan of the television series and afterwards I read the books. To my surprise, I actually liked the books better. SPOILER ALERT! One major difference, I thought between both series was on the character of Deborah. I could not picture the television Deborah to the Deborah in the book series. Totally two different characters. Probably because Deborah learns who Dexter really is after the first book and how she uses that information to make Dexter do everything at her beck and calI. I like the fact that Brian doesn’t get killed off right away, and he gets a chance to have a relationship with Dexter. And also like that Cody and Astor have a dark side similar to Dexter. The storyline of the books were darker and a lot more suspenseful and shocking. There were some points where I could not put the books down. The major difference with the books what was that Dexter almost found his humanity/soul when his daughter Lily Anne was born. He started ignoring his dark passenger in order to protect his daughter. And also when he fell in love with the actress, Jackie Forrest. He was ready to give everything up (the dark passenger and his family) and run away for love. The major disappointment of the book series was the ending. It left too many things unresolved. Even with the title “Dexter is Dead”, I ask myself is he really? Because the story is told via, first person Dexter narrates that he is injured and bleeding out and trying to escape and I thinks Dexter’s falls into the water, then the narration stops. The end. No epilogue what so ever. And as the reader you have to make your own assumptions. Assumption 1: the yacht explodes, destroying all the evidence and killing everyone including Deborah and the kids. Assumption 2: Deborah rescues Dexter from the water and he is still alive, just passed out. Deborah (with Dexter and the kids) makes a mad dash on Dexter’s boat and narrowly escaping as the yacht explodes.

I read the first few chapters but got bored without the boisterous music and colorful exotic Miami visuals. It was also the audio version read by the author Jeff Lindsay and I really didn't like his voice.

Haha that's fair, I've had to nope on audio books before too xD The show really does add a whole other layer with the ambiance, and ofc, Dexter's actor ;)
