Do It for Maggie | Minisode #2

A terrible tragedy has hit our favorite family, but how will they handle the loss? Will they band together and fight through it or will they crash and burn. Homer seems to be just barely hanging on for the sake of his family.
So for this video I set out to make it 5 minutes long. I hit that goal quite easily. The second goal was to make something dark, sad and heartfelt, i'll see what you guys think of it. You can expect a few more 5 minute videos in the future, I'd like to release one every now and then that really dives into a good story. Overall I think the video turned out quite well. I hope you enjoy.
Now onto the editing itself. I had to remove Marge out of a lot of scenes, with her being gone and all. I've also trying out some new editting techniques where I remove the background from one scene and put in another, it's still a work in progress but I believe eventually, I'll be able to do it without it being recognizable. There were lots of photoshops and edits, so i'll just mention the most difficult one. It would probably be adding in the rope at the final scene, I had to make it move with the clip itself and make the colors match.
There are some pretty bad lip syncing scenes in this, and some unnoticable ones. The "its not fair" clip where Homer destroys the house in anger turned out very well. But the part where he's reading Bart's letter is quite bad.

This just shows that The Simpsons can dive into some deep heartfelt stories, if it breaks from its episodic format that kept it milked to death for over 30 seasons, it would give some growth from characters who have to this point being kept on a loop unable to change because of the show's structure which is designed to keep it running, you should definitely try to do more works like this, that ending with Maggie was so heartfelt and powerful.

"Do it for her" is such a great TV moment, like really some of the best writing out there. You managed to capture that raw emotional response in almost completely different context. Honestly I think this video would be perfect without the noose at the end. Maybe I just kinda think the suicide joke is a tad overused on this channel, but I feel like it'd be neat if one of these videos ended with bittersweet optimism. Like ending with Maggie saying "daddy" would be such a hopeful ending, but cutting to Homer watching TV all depressed is super fitting. I think it can provide the ambiguity of "will Homer make it okay?" by itself. No noose necessary. You might even say, no-oose necessary. Wait, that's the opposite of my point.

I've watched all the videos on this channel (many times in fact lol) as well as the demonitized ones, and I think this video is one of the best, if not *the* best video. Some of the others have more shock like darkness, and that's fine. Others are more humourous which is cool too. Some are even wholesome which is unexpected but still nice. But the darkness here actually plays out very well and isn't just shock value. The clever use of scenes really portrays the grief the family goes though. The extra length in the minisode really allows that to play out in good time too. Then there's the graphical editing which I actually forget is there quite often since it's done quite well. And then that scene at the end, man! No other video on these channels actually makes me feel emotions as strongly as this video does. It really is a great creation!
