So, you must be somewhat young I'm guessing and unhappy about LIFE in general. Most of the comments were not meant to be political....just memories of younger days. I hope that they didn't teach you that there were slaves running all up and down NYC back then because there weren't. We all, me and my fellow black coworkers, had good high paying jobs with benefits, NYC was clean and safe ALL THE TIME. Mass transit was amazing, taxes were substantially lower, opportunities were everywhere, stock market booming, America was at peace, and people were genuinely happy so far as I could see and I've seen a lot working for 30 years in the heart of Manhattan and living in Queens. What a fabulous conspiracy thriller with a mix of recent contemporary historical fact with science fiction, interlaced with some great music. Steeped in the cold war paranoia (something that seeps again in modern day life geopolitical settings) & intense oppressive propaganda of the 1950's & 60's. As good on the rewatch today as it was on the 1st showing in the 1990's. If you loved the X-files, you'll love this (like the X-files interwoven with real events in recent history). Still a 10/10 from me. Eric Close is spookily a dead ringer for a young Robert Redford. Every time there are costly domestic & foreign political failures, the US government always seem to roll out the alien vistors theory (tail wags dog theory & 'the imaginary bridge' construct discussed by Krushchev & Nixon in the times this show covers), then attack the kids who believe in it all as 'Conspiracy Theorists'. Although aliens may exist - they're too far away to ever get here. 'The Drake Theory', standard & quantum physics both back that up (along with a complete lack of evidence other than our own military experimental crafts). You just have to look at the lack of humanity all around us to know that the only "aliens" here on Earth are humans. Most of whom are men (& some women) in suits - of the designer kind.

..and then we got Spielbergs Taken series in 2002 which did exactly that, set in different eras AND starred Eric Close, this time as an alien....but a good alien.
