Yeah this method for neck articulation is usually fine, but here it makes his neck look too thin for Keaton Batman

A few weeks ago I seen a post on instagram where some were taking a mezco neck piece and using green stuff to make it screen accurate . It's lust like the Death metal and Year 02 Batman so as you want it to be . Green stuff is pretty easy to use if you wanted to try yourself

The issues with the car is called "folding" in the injection molding process. I build Gundam models and it's fairly prevalent with those. It's just something that happens in the process. In this case though larger surface area equals more noticable.

its frustrating that the flash keaton version does have neck articulation but looks a little more like a one piece cowl. they somehow just had to do a worse job with the 89 version…why

The '89's ab crunch looks like the most seamless McFarlane has done to date. Also, you can pull the cape down to drape off of the Bat symbol to be movie accurate and it makes the cowl look much better. And you can always just never move the head.

Really cool and insightful review, especially of the figure (mine is coming soon!) and I am so stoked to see it so well and hear some good comments about it. I plan on re-caping mine, so the cape doesn't matter, and will touch up the emblem. Might sharpen the ears like I did my Flash one. But all in all, you have sold me on how cool this figure is from the get go! I am very stoked! (oh, and man, this new figure has such improved Keaton body proportions with the shorter legs! Thanks for the figure comparison!)

I have some news, I'm still waiting for my great grandmother to order keaton batman, but I found the gold label 89 batman without the batmobile for $26 and still in its plastic bag in mint condition. I'm very happy.

Mcfarlane Toys put out a post in regards to the card for this and unfortunately they stated this particular vehicle set did not get a card and was an error on their part. That being said, I was lucky enough to get one of these too and love it. Plus having the Ultimate pack to go with it, is just fantastic.

Those "folding" imperfections from the molding process (noted by azraelcales previously) are also present on the original Flash version of the Batmobile. The high gloss finish just hides them better. When I customized my Flash Batmobile, I painted the canopy black and added a satin finish. As soon as the satin finish was added, those same imperfections were much more noticeable. It was disappointing to see, but still overall a great piece for the price.

The Flash Bat-Keaton has a much better neck sculpt. It truly resembles his stiff, no-articulation rubber neck from the Burton movies. That's the only think I'd change in the 89 Batman figure.

Keaton's 89 suit is supposed to mimic the texture of a bat while his Returns suit was more armor.

Those lines are normal. For some reason with this sandy texture the interior structures seem to be coming through. It’s like some buildings when there’s morning frost will show the interior skeleton of a wall… I don’t know what that happens but that’s what it reminds me of

The flash keaton with a repaint is an awesome sculpt. I'm hoping the 89 once I repaint it looks as good sculpt wise. The neck will defo need a rework.

Yeah I am OCD too and really fixated on those imperfections too on the car. U can also see the odd sort of scratch here and there as well as the weird almost smokey effects on the paint. After looking at many vids and pics it appears they are all like it, so thats kinda reasurring.

The 2 pack is the more accurate. The only things the Flash versio has better is the neck and the yellow color. They should made the 2 pack neck same as flash version

Last scene when batman is about to die, he's all dusty and you can see the boots and the lower part of the uniform dirty. It might be that what is being represented by the odd color on the boots.

@10:22 Man, did you forget that The Flash version exists 😂? It's pretty much the same cowl design (just modernized) and McFarlane nailed both the looks and function on that version. You don't need to thin the neck for the movement.

They didn’t give him lifts, Bro. Those are Bo Jackson’s Nike Air Trainer 1’s. When filming dialogue parts, the shorter actor stands on a platform or “soap box” for close up/face to face shots. In wider shots they just simply use force perspective or stand-ins/body doubles for like for fights and such.

You’re right. They didn’t give him lifts. I don’t know where he got that from. But they were Air Trainer 3’s , not 1’s. And actually, in 1989 they called Air Trainer SC’s back then. They were renamed 3’s with the re-releases in the 2000’s. And the original SC’s were actually flatter in the toes than the re-releases so this 89 McFarlane Keaton’s boots are too thick.

The limited quantity is definitely an issue. I was told they excepted my order and was to receive it August 30th. When August 30th came I got the whole there was a problem with the order and do I still want it. Time will tell if I get but that premium price is about 200 bucks. Definitely not worth that. But Amazon is supposed to email me when they can fill my order. Again time will tell. Great video.

Keaton was the best Batman….I really loved the suit and everything about the feeling of Gotham in that 89 movie….of course it came out when I was in my prime youth at 13 but it was spectacular to be there for all that.

The problem with this figure is the cowl. 89 Batman has to have a neck the same size as his head. And if you do that, the head won’t be able to move. It’s a conundrum.

It was a pretty nice review but you didn't state if BATMAN'S cowl and mask could be removed to replace the cape with a better cape that is truly what we have been waiting and wanting to know and also you did not state how tall he was not sure if he is 7 inches or so..??

The figure just looks off, they should've used a thicker sculpt for the neck and cowl on the '89 version. In that regard I think the Flash movie version actually looks more like the original 89 suit's proportions. They needed the yellow bat emblem on the suit too. I also agree the cape should have been drawn all the around to the front so he can be displayed properly. At first I was very excited for this release (seemed like a great value), but since it went to all the bots who can order in 1 second from Amazon I never got it. Looking back at it now, I'm glad I didn't. Yes, the Batmobile was much improved to be more film accurate, but the Batmobile wasn't even the iconic vehicle from that movie, at least for me. Seeing the movie as a kid I left the theater only thinking about the Batwing. Think I'll pass on this 2-pack. If I already owned the NECA or Mezco '89 figures I might bite just to have the Batmobile to put them in, but that's not the case (and I'm not into spending that much on display pieces). For $30 I got the LEGO Batwing with Bats and Joker. For another $45 I can get the LEGO Batmobile with Bats and the Joker (and this Batmobile has spinning flames on the rear and working machineguns). Think I'll go LEGO hehe.

Ummm, no. This is the 89 version. Pointy bits are on the bottom of the batsymbol and he's got rounded abs instead of the square ones from the Returns suit. Plus the logo is on the box.

But anyway, the Batmobile is a one seater because it is from '92 you can tell by the seem lines that run down the sides of where the turbine is down the cockpit. Also that is why they didn't include the guns. I think someone gave them a pic of the most recent Batmobile not knowing the changes for the 2nd movie. It also has the Bat symbol press that pushes the car up to rotate 360 degrees like it did in Batman Returns, not in Batman.

Hands down the 89 is WAY better. the Flash movie one us ugly. The 89 the body - way better, face sculpt - way better. To me I passed the on the flash movie version because to me he just looks odd. has an ugly face and the body Armour/sculpt just looks silly.
