Why is it when I use filmic instead of sigmoid I need to add in way more saturation to get my colors back?

The way the interface on filmic works makes it easier to recover and control for highlights than sigmoid

Your default background theme is hard to see. I use "darktable-elegant-darker" theme and a larger font size, which helps my eye pick out the menu items much more easily.

Noted, I've enlarged the font on newer videos as well, but perhaps not enough. May need to bump it up some more. Thanks for the actual useful feedback.

I think most any technical field is like that. There is vocabulary to learn that makes some more sense later. That being said "sigmoid" is named after a mathematical curve so it's probably not something many photographers have run into. "Filmic with less buttons" takes up too much room in the UI though. :)
