Ubisoft abandoned this game back in 2016 because a small group of people whined about the protagonist, story and the dark tone through their loudspeakers. A small group of vocal people in the internet is responsible for the fate Watch Dogs suffered as a franchise. Now we are dealing with not two, but three sub groups within the same WD fanbase. The good news is that Ubisoft realised that Aiden still had fans, which is why they created a DLC for Legion, which turned out to be way better than the actual game.

I stopped following the game a while ago. Right around when i played the steaming pile of shit that was wd2. Didn't know ubisoft kinda kept in touch with the fanbase that loved wd1 and Aiden pierce. That's good to hear. I love wd1.

I agree about red dead's story functioning better as a tv show, the gameplay was just as bad as it was in gta V and any rockstar game really, it would have almost been better if you took it out. This game has far better gameplay, it actually challanges you and encourages you to be smart and creative. Gta V would be worse without gameplay though because the story is not interesting enough for me to watch it without interactivity. I was addicted to that game's story mode at one point too ngl, when I was around 11-12 I think. I didn't see anything better yet at that point. It's open world and characters without a doubt carried that game. But the open world is rdr's second, or for some people biggest selling point too, it wouldn't have been as big as it ended up becoming if it was just passive media. Or beloved. Especially because they spent long years of passionate hard work building that open world, it's probably one of the most special things that's out there right now in gaming, and I can pretty confidentaly say that that's not even bias. The scale, quality and detail in it is just unreal. Honestly surprising they could pull it off on last gen consoles. And whatever format... if we only look at it's story, it's one of the best I've ever seen, it's very moving. That's what I appreciate the most in any kind of media personally, artistic value and rdr has a ton of that in my opinion. In short that's all I gotta say about that

See the problem is, Matt is a speed runner. He doesn’t give a shit about the story if the gameplay is slow and uninspired. So ofc he thinks red dead redemption is a pile of shit and doesn’t understand why people like it. He’s never really given it a chance. And if it’s not his cup of tea then that’s fine. I’ve only ever beaten rdr 2 all the way thru maybe twice bc the game is so cumbersome.

@@RainierTy1 I just can't relate to that. I always liked well written stories over everything. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate good gameplay, graphics ect... It's just a different category for me I guess. If they're bad I say it could have been better, if they're good well great. But a well written story and characters is always why I'm there for. I just feel like art is so fun but not only that, unlike just mindless fun it can actually be very important and meaningful in your real life

Story was generic but inoffensive imo. Aiden is an ok character. Has clear motives, a cause. He’s kind of iconic, with his hat, phone and weird physics on his trench coat lol. Much more then I can say for the other chucklefuck in the second game. Can’t even remember his name. All of the characters in WD2 were unlikeable asf lol

your speedrunning destroyed your ability to play a game… You can only rush and have forgotten that games are supposed to be fun… btw this game is about trying cool stealth and hacking strategies and not a shooter. The moment when you stole the van and the dialogues didn‘t match up anymore clearly shows how incapable of playing the game you are. And I won‘t even start on you not concentrating and messing sth up but blaming the game for it constantly

But I think it is stupid to call a game bad when you're clearly not playing it how the creators intended it to be played. you know I hate it more than you do when he does things wrongly, but how has he 'forgotten that games are supposed to be fun'? He said he enjoyed playing this game a lot, specifically because it was different from GTA V, and much harder for him too. Yeah, he doesn't play the game as it is intended, but he is enjoying the game regardless. Not everyone is in the roleplaying aspect of games like Watch Dogs, and that is totally fine. That doesn't mean he is incapable of playing the game, just he doesn't like that kind of playstyle, and Watch Dogs like all Ubisoft titles allow for both stealth and action type gameplay, unlike something like Hitman which would be impossibly hard for this playstyle. Maybe don't type out mean stuff on the internet and just enjoy like everyone else :/

I mean, he kills a bunch of people and says "I didn't do anything" when gets a wanted level, I'd say he is not actually berating the game and just showing frustration like any normal human being. He did say this game is better than GTA V in many aspects at multiple points too, so I don't think he ever **declared that Watch Dogs is an objectively bad product. Which is better than the entire internet, since everyone called the game bad because of it's downgrade despite having pretty good gameplay.
