Or just flat out not kill people. The DLC's add 3 new stun-weapons, and even without them most missions you can just do with the jumper and patience. I'm to the point in the story where Horatio dies, and my kill count is literally the 4 people who you "neutralize" in that mission (I didn't realize stunning them counted)(we'll just ignore all the peds I run over in the streets, I'm sure they're fine). The cops, I only use in an emergency, or if I genuinely see someone commit a crime. I haven't even unlocked the gangs. It's pacifist to taze people, right?

I love how unstealthy he plays, almost 8000 hours in a game where stealth is broken AF will do that to you lmao Toying around with drones and doing missions only with them is really fun. It pains me to see how you missed most of the hacking and in general quality of life hotkeys... you can call back drones before they're destroyed and you can skip the cooldown; you can press C while hacking an enemy to stun it and i believe open it to melee attacks; among the upgrades that dont require you to get a data key (i understand taking those isn't the most fun thing to do) you can find a mass hack that stuns EVERYONE in a wide area for a quick escape, you can detonate stun grenades and explosives with Y, while having them equipped Edit: I forgot, you can even call the cops on someone to have them arrested, or make a gang think they're a traitor so they send a death squad

@@reasons2live it’s not objectively bad, it’s subjectively bad, you don’t enjoy it but I can understand why. I for one played both games and while I still prefer the first over the sequel, I (and many others) enjoyed the variety of the sequel. And the puzzle that they “reused” was actually somewhat re-conceptualized for the sequel, as you have to traverse the environment or use drones/cameras to connect the blue lines while in the original you just stared at a screen to play the mini game. All in all it is a step up from the sequel in gameplay (story is a bit of a downgrade but that’s not why most people play) and it is really fun. But again I can see why you and others don’t like it

It's so sad that Matt doesn't know that Ubisoft makes mostly stealth oriented games... Whoever talked Matt into playing this did him a disservice, as it's really not a game meant to be played fast, but to take your time and pick off targets 1 by 1, or use your drones to not have to set foot in a restricted area at all... The checkpoint system is actually INTENDED (stupid as it is...) to make you restart an entire section. It's to make sure that whatever time you might save by just going guns blazing and have a 50/50 chance of dying, DEFINITLY sets you back more time than just taking it slow from the start, playing the game the way the developers intended. Rockstar is a bit more lenient with checkpoints, but instead just fails you in a lot more ways between them to make up for that, and to guide the player... Ubisoft games are their own thing, just like Rockstar games are. Expecting no insanely long stealth and puzzle sections in a Ubisoft game is like playing GTA 5 and expect a 3+ age rating, or Bethesda games to not be riddled with bugs! So if Matt intends to play other open world games, i STRONGLY suggest that anything from Ubisoft be disqualified, as they simply don't work with how he enjoys playing games it seems...

If the game has guns, Matt should be able to go in guns blazing and succeed. If the game punishes him for using the tools it gave him to try to complete the objective, he has every right to be frustrated and angry. You should be able to walk in and shoot everyone. The game is about hackers; as long as you hack the objectives, it shouldn't matter how you dispatch the enemies and forcing you to be stealth is not fair play.

And the game is definitely not shit at everything, the sceneries are nice and there's a lot of small stuff to do and overall it's not a bad stealth game. I even stealthed in and out of the final encounter, both non-lethally

Matt: Chooses the most suboptimal way to play the game, doesn't bother to upgrade any of the equipment, fails repeatedly on basic missions because of it, doesn't use unlockable gadgets and powers: "This game is bad". Doesn't bother to upgrade and actually take any of the hacking powers: "The hacking is so much worse in this one, I have no powers" And to the "hacking is so much more passive here" - you still have the combat powers that make enemies distracted or stunned, even in combat, you just never used them for some reason and then complained that they don't exist. They do. You didn't like the game for its vibe and because of it you stopped learning about new mechanics, instead just trying to basically beat everything with a stick. And because playing the game without actually using the advanced tools is more difficult, it made you even more angry. Honestly you should have stopped mid-playthrough when you stopped enjoying it. I get that part of it was trying to break the game for comedic value, but it's just not as polished of a game as GTA5, so it doesn't withstand that much of a deviation from critical path solultions.

I will be honest with you, I did try stealth on effectively every mission. The tools were non-existent, I had unlocked everything possible. It is conceivable that if you did side stuff you'd have more available, or that there were tools hidden somewhere, but most of the missions were solved with just throwing a drone or buggy at it. That was the "stealth" in this game.

@@DarkViperAU There's one very big tool I've not seen you use once in the video - cellphone distraction - I don't think the game teaches you that properly, but that basically solves both stealth and combat. About to get discovered? Ping that guy's cellphone and he stops noticing you for like 10 seconds and you can sprint in front of them and they won't notice you. I believe they even stop shooting you if done in combat. The skill is called "Create Distraction" and it's the first skill in the Social Engineering tree. And if you level up drone and the buggy, they come equipped with EMP/Frag grenade of their own, so you don't even need to fiddle with them to take out swaths of enemies. The whole army fort mission at the end there took maybe a minute for me to just fly in, drop the auto-frags from a drone and leave. One of the first upgrades on the drone lets you see and mark people through walls, making the stealth trivial. One of the last upgrades in the combat tree makes your zap gun oneshot even armored enemies, making it a one shot hitscan tool for combat. One of the most expensive rifles in the game is an anti-materiel sniper rifle which one shots any enemy in the game. One of the vehicle hack upgrades makes helicopters just go away. Maybe it's the game's fault for assuming most people will upgrade most of the skill tree by that point in main missions, but if you do side stuff and upgrade your arsenal, the game becomes much more easier and makes you feel like a god. The problem is the game didn't grab you so you stopped caring about it and just wanted to brute force through the main story. And that's okay, it's okay to not like games. And yeah, the checkpoints were ridiculous, but I think what happened here is the playtesters also used their whole arsenal and didn't have to spend so much time slowly bruteforcing through the missions. I think you were trying to beat the game with minimum possible tools out of habit of speedrunning, trying to avoid going for unneccessary complications, but you have to have played the game (any game that is moderately difficult) for a while before you can do that succesfully.

@@DarkViperAU Another thing upgrades do is basically give you the power to make robot enemies die or fight on your side, forever and turn off any security device by just clicking on it. By the late game you just become a machine that goes around, clicks on stuff and taps enemies with a zap gun and everybody just falls asleep. Zap traps are amazing for indoor stealth/combat as I believe they do not make a sound, so that's an AoE disable for humans silently. The game doesn't highlight it much but when you have any object in the game selected, be it enemy, security device, robot, vehicle or a machine, there are 4 different options for almost any of them in the bottom right of the screen, and some of them are insanely powerful, like an option to just turn off all electricity for a few seconds, like in the first game (called System Crash: Blackout here). The tools are all here, but I believe for this and some other you even have to go specifically loot them as an in-game item (it says where to if you look in the skill tree)

It’s okay if you don’t wanna use stealth in the game since it’s your own choice, and glitches are definitely something to blame on the game 100%, but y’know whats really useful when your going guns blazing? Cover, and using your tech point abilities more often. Buying your own guns and ammo is also extremely useful. I completely agree that the puzzles in the game are a bore tho.

In my opinion the thing that brings joy to this game is the side missions and the skill tree, like for real the side missions are mostly fun and then the skill tree lets you fuck around in freeroam causing chaos. I personally enjoyed the open world more than the missions, just like in gta 5.

Honestly the AI, and how they interact, was the most fun thing for me when I played this game, my favorite pastime was calling the cops on some random bystander, then a gang death squad on the cops and just watching them battle it out. Seeing other random gang members run in from a street over, extra cops show up, the world just felt.....alive.

Matto’s opinions on these games is so weird. WATCH_DOGS was absolutely hated by majority of people, saying characters are dull, derivative of GTA V, and the game was boring and too dark. Watch Dogs 2 was praised for its present themes, charismatic characters, intuitive gameplay and much lighter tone. Matto thought WATCH_DOGS was 8/10, Watch Dogs 2 was 5/10. And, although I do think Watch Dogs 2 should be higher, I agree that WATCH_DOGS is severely underrated and overhated.

that's because matto is playing all of these games like he plays gta 5. wd1 has very few effective upgrades and you start with some very good guns? the gunplay is satisfying and you never have to do anything else, like hack, maybe? then if you play it like gta 5, you're gonna have fun, so matto thinks its good. wd2 has a larger variety of tools to your disposal, so you need to be more selective with you play. the starter weapons aren't very effective for guns-blazing, so if you want to play that way, you've got to prepare effectively. the hacking can make that much easier for you, but if you ignore it and play the game just like gta 5, not touching upgrades or hacks and focusing on guns blazing with starter weapons, then you're not going to have a good time because you aren't even playing the game, you're dipping your toes in the water and complaining the pools to shallow

I’m on my third playthrough of this game and seeing him do halve-assed attempts at viable strategies, failing because the attempt was halve-assed, blame it on the game, going back to using gunplay (badly), not using any abilities or even opening the skill tree, then complaining that he doesn’t have enough skills/abilities. Ehhh I've found that's how he handles open world games now. As many others have said, he treats it as a gta v speedrun. I just figure if that's how he does it, then so be it. I get that he places the blame elsewhere, and that it is an entirely unintelligible way to play the game, but in the end it's not it matters. He tries to play it the way he wants, getting mad because he can't, and perhaps lessens his experience of the game. That's the only consequence ultimately. So ehh, life goes on.
