I had four of these over the years, just kept coming back to them. The engine was very addictive, and it was used by Yamaha for different models over an eternity of 30 years. From the XV920R/TR-1 in 1981 all the way until the V-Star 1100 in 2011. The Virago felt rather small for Westerners, surprisingly light and nimble, especially since it was meant to be a big cruiser when it entered the market.

@@Darkvisor no, I owned two TR-1 and later a Virago 1000, all before the millenium. In 2010 or so I did buy a wildly customized old Virago 1000 again and had it for some time. So I only know the 1000cc versions.

I found a 94 Virago XV1100 just waiting to die in the back of the showroom at a Harley dealership. I shipped it home and took it to a respected Yamaha dealer. They had a little difficulty finding the parts but they got her running great. I will never ride anything else. I love it! Perfect for around town and the occasional long Saturday ride. I get compliments all the time, even from Harley bros. I most definitely recommend one, as long as you can find any parts that need to be exchanged, as they’re getting harder to come by.

Got myself a 92 1100, love it to absolute bits. Pulls real good when it wants to and this damned machine can't die for nothing, it ran on a busted battery, front cylinder burning oil, and a few pieces missing, but ran like a dream. Fixed em up real good and I'm making a custom super tall sissybar for it for that nice chopper style. Its my first bike and I know I'm going to keep it for a long time

Reminds me of all the memories on the back of my dads 1995 Virago 1100...then when I was 18 i was driving it like i stole it lmao! Loved the speedo and tach design and it definitely wasn't a highway cruiser as it was screaming at 4k rpms in 5th gear at like 70mph but u could just twist the throttle and go...got it up to 95mph but it was vibrating bad, not meant for those speeds, the shaft drive was so smooth too. Super reliable bike as well!

If it was screaming at 4k rpms then something is definitely wrong. My 98 virago was also my dad's bike I still drive everyday. It doesn't even red line till 6500 or 7. And I do 85mph all day on interstates at 4k. When it's tac out in 5th I'm doing approximately 115mph. Put new cone air filter on it and it does 120mph and maybe more cause I backed out,was getting bit squirrely 😆

Nice upload. Informative while enjoying the ride! Could you elaborate more on why you mentioned "I guess someone forgot to charge the battery"? Is the battery on similar motorcycles supposed to be charged? Sorry, i am a beginner :)
@Darkvisor4 ай бұрын
I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed my video. Normally, it's enough to charge the battery once per season, for us swedes we do it during winter when we can't ride. But it's good to charge it every now and then too. and if you have an old battery, it might need to be charged a bit more often than a new battery. But with older bikes, and some custom bikes, they can drain a lot from when you start the bike. it takes more power to start it then what it will "auto-charge" when riding, so if you with an old bike / battery turn off your bike and on again too much, it might not have enough power to start again. its not common on newer bikes. feel free to ask more if you want. I'm happy to help out a new rider! =) thanks for watching please subscribe to support me and my work

I took off the air filter and put a kn cone filter on it. It definitely runs a bit better. U can actually fell the air sucking into it. Although I'm scared it may be running to lean. So I pulled the plugs and the front was clean but had a little white on the side, very little and rear had none it was clean clean clean. I hope it don't run hot from being lean. I have heard ppl tell me that imma have trouble. Wd u think. I also put 10 inch Flanders old school miniapes on my girl. I think imma put the mirrors like u have on the end of the bars or half way up bars put the ones that clamp to bars and are very small. One on each side. And I also did the fork seals. Thank you for the reply. 1%er Zeb

The seat looks incredible! What brand is it? Or is it custom? I've been thinking about committing to the Virago and making it the why I want it. Also, did you change the bars yourself? I've been thinking about getting some higher ones myself. I don't know how difficult it's going to be with extending all the wires, cables, etc...

It looks awesome with that rear cylinder exhaust mod, 100% better than stock weird routing under the frame. Im planning to do it this way too, but Im not sure how to. Is possible to use primary header from Dragstar 1100 (same 3LP engine with exhaust this way), or it have different flange? I will appreciate expirience with this mod.

Looking between the various ads, how many km do you max recommend for this bike to have? I've seen here in Italy 3000€ ads for bikes with 100'000km. Do you think it's ok?
@MichalL69916 ай бұрын

I don't know too much about engines and such but as long as you take care or a bike properly, milage don't mean that much, depends more of the condition and proper care from previous owner. But like 77lubos say, it seems that the price maybe be a bit too high. The viragos are quite common and you can find them for almost half the price Thanks for watching, please subscribe to support me and my channel =)
@matteocicolani14066 ай бұрын
Well, thank you for your time. It's bad to hear that cause for a virago 1100 the average price here in Italy (I've looked a lot) it's around 3500/4000. If I would consider just the bikes with a mileage under the 60'000 it's even worse.
@Darkvisor6 ай бұрын
@@matteocicolani1406 maybe go for another brand perhaps? Honda VTX are decent bikes also. Honda Shadow also etc...

This is the biggest engine in my motorcycle selection criteria: air cooling, carburetor, Vtwin, driveshaft, not belt ore chain. We have Dragstar also with the same engine, but it`s derated and it`s heavier, wich mean it has a lower power density. And, by the way, my height 170 santimeter. And big bike will not fit for me. And so... I hate sportbiker`s stile and behaviour.
