The Qliphoth player put up a heck of a fight! But once you drew 3 reckless greeds the game was decided lol My friend and I used to play my Amazoness vs his Dark World Virus deck. Different parts of my deck had qualities that just BARELY avoided multiple virus effects, so he really had to pick and choose how best to cripple me. In response, I had powerful search spells and the horrendous Amazoness Ambush trap that banished his monsters whenever I battled them. I could also use Amazoness Baby Tiger to extend plays with a free special summon every turn. So he'd prevent me from making plays and I'd prevent him from using the Darkest Diabolos engine. Very even matchup all things considered! Then my friends started using hand traps...it was never the same after that. :'(

sadly no if you discard them as a part of cost of the effect they wont activate thats why cards like vortex dont work

Darkworlds specify they have to be discarded by effect. Basically, if it comes after a semi-colon, it's an effect. Before, it's a cost. If there is no semi-colon then let the gods decide.
