Darleen Tana has absolutely NO MANDATE to remain in the parliament. The Green Party has a right to a correct percentage of Green Party MP's which is currently denied them by Tana's refusal to resign. As voter who Party voted Green in 2023 I want this individual out immediately.

Personally I think a Party Vote Representative upon resigning from the party no longer represents those Party votes cast in the prior General Election. So no longer an MP. I think Electorate MP’s being voted for by name on the ballots continue to represent those votes if they change party membership. Its a unique situation which requires the Party Votes to carry on being represented by a member of that party per their Party List from the previous General Election. Imo. 😊

DT taking this matter to Civil Court is going to force EVERY detail out into the light. Witnesses called. Discovery of Evidence... looong expensive process with little to gain and a lot of bad publicity. I wonder if xhe thought all that through carefully. What comes to light may lead to prosecutions, if laws were broken.

What mahi to be done? there is no mahi, Tana is basically ostracized, she doesn't represent anyone but herself. She should do the decent thing and resign, she has no mandate to remain in parliament. 2018, the Electoral Integrity Amendment Bill, (Waka jumping), passed its third reading with the support of Labour, NZ First, AND the Green Party. A point that the media often miss. Although the Green Party has a history of opposing it, they did support the bill, it was a confidence and supply agreement with Labour. So the Greens that helped bring it into law should use it to have Tana removed.

I’m so sad at the state of some of our parliamentarians. The decline had been glaring recently. If the greens would actually spend some time doing research on their candidates and not pointing the finger at others a lot of this could have been avoided

List MPs do not have independent voter support. They are only in Parliament to act for their Party by the grace of their party appointing them a role after sufficient public votes were cast For The Party that made that position available to be filled. A list MP that resigns from their party no longer has authorisation derived from The Party List Votes and most certainly does not have authority derived from Electorate votes. Therefore they must be discharged from Parliament... AND IMO required to repay any Govt Salary/Benefit they received after that date of Party List Member Resignation, which they are no longer entitled to. [That should end dalliances in a similar manner to how Benefit Fraud is dealt with].
