People sleep on Winnie the Pooh (books and animated media) for the cottagecore energy, especially in springtime when everything is bright and cheerful. The books are so cozy, and Disney's watercolor style for the Hundred Acre Wood feels so soft and inviting. Highly highly recommend!

I'm not big into romcoms, but one of my favorites is Leap Year, it's about a woman who, based on a Celtic tradition where a woman can propose to a man on leap year, travels to Ireland to surprise her boyfriend. She ends up arriving in a small town and having to get a ride with a surly Irishman. It's really funny and it has beautiful scenery of the Irish countryside, they visit a small farm and some castle ruins.

I had a very Desi Inspired day today. I walked slowly under the blooming flower trees while the morning shadows were still quite long and everything was still glowing gold. I opened my windows and watched my lace curtains blow gently in the breeze. I enjoyed sipping my favorite tea from my favorite pink floral teacup and listening to soft instrumental music while I made a peach pie (it's Pi Day today). Then I went to the library for new spring themed reads, which I carried home in my little wicker basket but I had to stop and pick a little bundle of flowers for my dining table.

I'm reading a book called The Only Purple House in Town by Ann Aguirre and it's got really cozy vibes! Picture a quirky run down purple house a young woman has just inherited from her great aunt but she's broke and can't pay for all the renovation it needs. So to help pay for all the expenses to do it up, she rents out the rooms to people who are really in need of a room (like her own situation was before getting this house). They form a sweet found family full of misfits from different walks of life and work on the house together, cook meals and look out for each other. Oh and magic is real, so we also have some witches, shapeshifters and fae in the mix! It's a very sweet story - I think its set in autumn but I think it works well for spring too as its very cottage core.

The movie that feels like spring to me is "Chocolat," starring Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, Lena Olin, Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Leslie Caron. Binoche plays a free-spirited single mother who moves to a small French village in the 1950s. She opens a magical chocolate shop at the beginning of Lent. She battles with the local aristocrat (Molina), who disapproves of her "decadent influence" on "his" town. Spring unfolds as the story progresses. Caution: 100% will make you crave chocolate!

I recently re decorated my bedroom with a garden tea party/ Deloris Umbridge floral vibe and I found loads of pretty vintage paintings for my gallery wall. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find many smaller paintings though so I came up with an idea to use floral fabric I already had in my craft supplies (fabric from clothing I no longer wear) and frame it. Great filler in between the larger art work and it was basically free because I used fabric and frames I already owned. The random framed floral fabric gives off a Love Shack Fancy vibe.

Thank you as always for getting me back into the spring mood, Desi! ☺️🌷 🌧 play in the rain with wellies (*yes*, that is so the better term for them) 🌈 watch a rainbow until it fades 🐸 go out at night after a rain to hear spring peepers (with a candle-lit lantern!) 🍄 explore a dewy spot 🪺 listen to the dawn chorus of birdsong (*yes*!! - you can use apps like Cornell’s BirdNet to train yourself to identify each song) 👗 update my spring wardrobe & get out warm-season clothing 🍀 search for a four-leaf clover 🐑 watch baby animals 🧺 grow grass in a basket (this is so cute! add a bow) 🌊 play Pooh Sticks over a rain-swelled stream 🌼 make a daisy crown 🍃 build a miniature house with natural materials (fairy-style) 🪟 open the windows to let in the sunshine and fresh air (*yes*!) 💨 craft all-weather pinwheels to stick outdoors in the ground 🌱 plant summer-flowering bulbs and annual seeds 🌷 pick & smell a bouquet of wildflowers ☁️ find shapes in the clouds (spring is hands-down the season for this!!) 👒 trim a hat with ribbons to blow in the breeze 🦢 blow dandelion poofies (clocks) 🥬 pack a picnic with fresh spring produce 🥚 craft with eggs (an imperishable spring wreath!) 🍓 munch fresh strawberries 📖 read a springtime book (the Hobbit for me this year) 💐 pick a birthday bouquet (with foxgloves!) 🦋 watch butterflies 🍰 bake with strawberries (or apricots) 🎀 dress up to stroll through a flower garden 🐝 listen to the buzz of honeybees (making honey for summer!) This is my Spring Hygge List. (This sounds more pleasant than a Bucket List to me… 🙃) I tried to keep it simple this year so I could easily get the joy of circling things off. Of course lots of these can be combined or further romanticized…

Just wanted to let you know that your videos have helped me love books again. When I was a child, teen and young adult, books were my life and then one day they weren’t. I just wasn’t finding the love of them or the thrill of the immersive story they provided anymore. Then, after watching a few of your videos and seeing your enthusiasm about different novels, I decided to do a Spring/Summer reading challenge and made myself a goal of 50 books on Goodreads. I’m happy to report I just finished my second book and I’m getting ready to start my third. The Bridgerton series felt very springlike to me, so I decided to start there and it was a good choice. Forcing myself to slow down in the mornings and allow two hours to myself with a cup of coffee and a book has helped me so much, so thank you for the inspiration to pick up my books again after all these years.

@@DarlingDesi The recommendation were really helpful! At the end of the vid you said that we can comment our recommendations so an activity I recommend is making a spring wreath on your front door, I make it every year using a wreath base made of wood twigs and add fake flowers and ribbons (or anything that feels right)!

I think you'd really enjoy the book 'Jane Austen's Table' by Robert Tuesley Anderson. It's a cookbook about the meals Jane Austen herself would have eaten. It's beautifully made and has commentaries on all the times food is consumed within her novels. The best part about it, though, is that the author likes Emma. It's so rare to read commentary on the book without the author making derisive comments about Emma herself, that this made me so happy to read it!

@@DarlingDesi I also recommend reading the Edenbrooke prequel, which tells Philip's story "Heir to Edenbrooke" and shows his first meeting with Marianne from her point of view. The BBC has tv show versions of lots of classic books which i always think is a really nice to cwtchy on down and watch during spring. I try to buy a bunch of Daffodils like once a week because nothing feels like spring in Wales without Daffodils. And one new thing I want to try my hand at this year, is make my own easter eggs or little box of chocolates, on Pinterest there is a million ideas and they all sound more delicious than the next so i can't wait to try that. Desi you always bring such joy to the everyday, i wish i could bring some of that to mine and my daughters life xxx
