My dad has hats like that. They’re more fabric like but same style and I believe his are US army themed cause he was in the US army. Also he wore one around my German grandma (when we visited her in October) who dealt with the stuff the Nazi did in some way and she was completely fine with it as it’s just a hat. Nothing more, nothing less. Some people are making molehills out of nothing. Especially since you can get this style of hat anywhere. A lot of stores including big brand ones sell this kind of hat. It’s a common thing and has been one long before the Nazis decided to use it with their uniforms.

Ever After High's dresses were indeed made out of tissue paper. 😆 I love them, but if they came out in the current market, I may have dismissed them. Rainbow High really skewed my view of textile quality in dolls.

I feel like if they came out today ever after high would go in like a completely new direction with the clothing something more of today’s standards but for the 2010s it worked I think that’s one of the main reasons why I like collecting them because the while being simplistic when put up on the shelf they’re still nice to look at

As a HUGE Egyptian enthusiast, the first time I saw the omg cleopatra I KNEW I had to have two of her. One in box, one for play lol But when it comes to Frankie's new hat, as someone with Jewish background, I just thought it looked like a generic old police officer hat ._. On Frankie’s hat - I’m Jewish, and personally, I am not bothered by the hat. It is, however, incredibly important to be mindful (and I’m also speaking to myself here) that the Jewish experience is very different across generations, cultures, etc…My personal triggers as a Dutch-Jewish SoCal 80s baby are going to be very different from from that of someone from another region and blend of cultural and geographic circumstances. So please continue to listen to other voices in the Jewish-community….I am however appalled by the placement of molded numbers on the forearms of the Barbie Extra dolls. I got one from the first series for my birthday two years ago, and that just about ruined the day for me. I don’t know if the serial numbers were placed on future dolls in the same spot, but I was incredibly hurt by that oversight. Love the format - and the care bear shirt ❤

I think a reason why Claudie ended up with a smaller collection at release than Courtney is because this year they’ve released so many new dolls. I’m pretty sure when Courtney came out it was just Courtney and the girl of the year that year. In the past year we’ve had 3 new dolls with the new world by us line and their collections, 2 girl of the year dolls Corinne and 14 inch doll Gwyn, a new Wellie Wisher doll, and 25 new Truly Me dolls. That’s more than American girl usually ever releases in a short span of time. I hope that Claudie will get more stuff added to her collection soon.

Was very weirded out at how you approached that hat topic until you alluded to what it was about! I can't speak for all Jewish people for many many reasons. But only looking over the dolls with that specific lens did I even know what you were talking about! (I thought I had missed a kippah, or like, someone had sidelocks???) I think I associate that style of hat more with those hats that were cute in the early 2000s. I think that seeing it in context (the other part of the outfit serving normal girly fashion, and with the other hats each having a similar sticker in a similar place) is also what contributed to that. If any discussion of representation was happening, I thought it would be how cute it is to see some of the dolls with legs that aren't stick-thin. But again, many many reasons I don't speak for everyone. Tbh I can't imagine my rabbi or anyone else in my congregation seeing a problem, but I would guess that only a couple of them would know what Monster High is lol. If the outfit had any other questionable choices, then it might be more than coincidence. But it's hard to imagine this even being an on-purpose dog whistle. For whom and why??

Admittedly, cleopatra looks really cute, but I’m a bit worried ab what she can do to poc, specifically MENAs. Especially if she appears in the show/movies and they attempt to make a character out of her. As a black collector, I do think these “Egyptian themed” dolls look cute, but they can be pretty orientalist at times. It’s wild how many times I’ve interacted w ppl and they’ve cited Cleo or Nefera as their justification or reasoning for believing and doing harmful things. Not here to drag OMG or Fierce, just something I think should be taken into consideration

Cleo has always looked and acted like that, ever since G1 Monster High, and she remains one of the franchise's most beloved characters. Let's not forget that OG Draculaura had a ridiculous cartoon Eastern European accent, and one of OG Lagoona's sole personality traits was being an Australian caricature. This is not a series known for its subtlety.

I was a bratz kid too so the reboots are very nostalgic even if id never get them for myself- and i think thats why i like the big headed dolls more than the proportioned ones like barbie. One funny thing is im also allergic to sports but i feel like i always end up disagreeing with your takes on the sports dolls, they kind of clash often but i like the “sporty” look, the jock jackets, the netting. I also like that theyre the few dolls who are stylish without being super feminine. Just a matter of opinion! Love the video keep it up!

I love your videos because you're always SO prompt and thorough in your coverage. It's the only channel I can trust lol. We also 9 times out of 10 have the completely opposite opinion on most of the releases which I find super interesting, because I like hearing what praises/critiques other people have that I may not! Keep filming however feels comfortable to you; I'm glad you're gaining confidence from it! Basketball star OMG: I'm a SUCKER for anything sporty/streetwear. Black, white, and gold is one of my fav color combos because it can elevate a simple design easily. Cleopatra: LOVE the opulence but would only be interested at a lower price point. For $100 I'd pretty much only consider Moonlight B.B. or Sunset if they had this level of detail. Cult Gaia Cloe: I am OBSESSED with the box outfit! Something about it really resonates with me.

I am suprised ppl are mad abt Frankie's hat when rainbow high had a punk band who's guitarist is wearing that same hat, but I didn't hear a peep about it. Which was weird. The punk scene started that whole trend of wearing shocking imagery to make people mad which of course backfired bc it invited the wrong kind of people in. So the connection is not only more direct but more yikes in my opinion. But for Frankie. It just feels like a military styled hat with no real connection to any particular scene. I do agree they probably should have gone with a different hat but it isn't as offensive as the rainbow high one to me honestly.

@@Goleon my father was also in the army & I actually got the hat he wore with his formal suit after retirement. I never wore it because it was too uncomfortable and later I found out about the implications of that hat style in punk, alt, etc scenes. Which was usually tied to the not so nice guys. So I think it's just good to avoid that style unless you are in full military uniform. There are plenty of other hat designs they could have used for the doll.

I think it is cuz mga stuff are fabric and Mattel is plastic. So mga stuff you can’t paint and see all the detail making it obvious what it is. Mattel is a hunk of plastic and you can’t really tell what any of the detail are. So your imagination run wild unlike the rainbow high one. Plus rainbow high is know for copying fashion like Chanel etc not religious item. Almost no would make the connection cuz everyone busy guessing which brand it is from. Mattel just more generic. That all my guess to why people find the Mattel one more offensive. (Not me but people)

I Knew it was Aurora Straight away They seem to have taken more inspiration from Eyvind Earle, (concept artist behind Sleeping beauty, and the reason for it's distinctive style) , rather than the film it's self!

As for the dolls, I'm planning to get the Dream Ella in pink and all the MH with lockers. I generally wait for sales before buying, though. I actually guessed that she was aurora. I think the color gets it across. They tend to put her in purple since Ariel seems to be more associated with pink
