Until you see them live you don't understand how talented these guys are.

Saw them at Bristol Hippodrome. A night I’ll never forget. The Catbird Seat was my wedding song.

It's crazy just how many instruments they can all play and how many they use in recordings, especially the number of unconventional instruments and sounds you don't often hear in rock music.

Huge props to the sound guy for these tiny desk concerts. The mix often sounds better than the studio version of the song.
@ElGuitaristo796 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. These concerts often make me wanna buy the original records. And many times I was very disappointed then.

You'll probably appreciate Audiotree as well. Not all are top-tier like tiny desk but they have some great setups, depending on the video.

They run the mix very dry, without reverb and other effects - Sounds really natura. Makes a nice change from the records.

They unnecessarily soak their sound with reverb and effects and moody garbage. Took me a while to find a dry recording just to see what they really sound like. As I suspected, they're terrific. Someone needs to have the courage to click the "bypass" button on the Fx console.

End-of-time lyrics, the description says? No, they're definitely talking about playing Mario. "The flag sunk," "the world has flattened out," "a level further down," "Mushroom clouds reset the sky / Extralife""

the kinda 8 bit sample they sing over is very reminiscent of Mario/early nintendo as well

I just learned about these guys a month ago....in China! Yes, I kept hearing their song "My Gal, My Guy" at Starbucks, and the second time I heard it, I immediately searched online to find out who sang the song, because it was beautiful. These guys are really great! Such beautiful music and harmonies.

Funny thing, I absolutely love this group and I love tiny desk shows. I saw Darlingside about two months ago. I'm so happy to see them on this stage, but I urge anyone who thought this was just OK to check out their other performances. This was good, but not their best work. Still I enjoyed it.

There was something off about the second piece, in a harmony kinda way. I don't know anything technical about it, just felt like there was quite a bit of different ideas not mixing well with each other. Other two were superb. Auyon's commentary was top notch.

LEO as we all do ..judging a book by its cover...at first.. And realize they are real musicians..harmonies are brilliant ..try and listen to Taylor Swift ...eg. her debut with the rolling stones on as tears go by..and yet has millions of followers..and made millions on hype...

Hating on musicians for being hipsters is like hating water for being wet.
@taylorlayton50956 жыл бұрын
not all musicians... just the indie post alt folk rock whatever genre so many Tiny Desks fit into... The GZA and brass band video I just came from had decidedly less hipsters.
