DJ, just a hint to peeling peaches. Make a small x on the bottom of the peach. Place in boiling water for a short time, a minute or two, remove and the skin will just slip off. We had numerous peach trees and this always worked.

Not boring at all. Sometimes I think that it's been a while since Daniel sat on a feed bucket and just talked to us about random things. This was just as good. In a few years, Huston won't remember who caught more fish on any particular trip. He will remember the time spent fishing with Dad. Happy Forth of July everyone.

I have my grandmother's peach crisp recipe. My grandfather gave me some of her recipes after he moved down the street from me. He was trying to get rid of some of her recipes, plus he knew I'd make some for him. The more I made for him, the more he gave me. As he got older, he gave me a a lot of other things , that I've shared with my sisters and my Aunts. My mom was oldest of 11 kids.

@@Charles-py not impossible at all. I grew up very near a reservoir that was once to town. All the town folks had to move. A lot of houses were moved along with their barns. When we are in a severe drought, you can see a lot of foundations from the previous community that was once there.

@@Charles-pywhy would that be impossible? The OLD Hochatown was an old 1830's Choctaw settlement on the river. They moved west of the river area that was flooded by the lake made by the dam. You can Google how Broken Bow reservoir lake came to be and how nearby Idabell got named.. Flood control act of 1958. Construction stated in 1961 by the Tulsa Arny corps of engineers. This person's dad likely was part of the dam construction the old Hochatown settlement was moved out of danger to where it is now. West of the lake off hwy 259.

If I might make a suggestion on the peaches, ( if you do them again) have a pot of boiling water going on the stove, get a "spider" tool and place a few peaches in the boiling water for about 30-45 seconds and "scald" the peaches...then place them in a ice bath...the skins will come right off, slice peach in half and pit. Less waste on trying to peel peaches...and sprinkle with citric acid (canning section in store...or spices) or a little lemon juice to keep them from turning brown...just sign me, " done my share of peaches growing up"

I so miss our days filled with boating on Candlewood Lake up in Connecticut when our kids were young and before my ME/CFS got severe....you know what I mean......the good old days. I love DeJay's videos too. Houston reminds us of our son, Michael, when he was Houston's age. Now, Michael is married and is a fantastic Dad. Unfortunately, Michael and the rest of our family lives up in Connecticut while we've living here in Florida, taking care of my 97 year old Dad for the past 11 years. I've been housebound and recliner/bedbound for the past 10 of those years because of my severe ME/CFS. So, you help me escape from my life in each of your videos, which is such a blessing. A day in the life of farm people. That's what we were called. I used to love fishing, hunting, camping ( in a tent) in the middle of nowhere. Now I live in a small area called West Seattle Washington State.

I love your video’s. Houston is a natural born fisherman. You’re creating memories with your son that he will remember for a lifetime and he will pass down to his children. I love seeing the animals. GOD bless you and your family, until next time. 😊❤️
