Not only are you all awesome you are so blessed! I'm 72 yrs. Old, grew up in a Dairy , worked on ranches, You are so good and affectionate to your animals!! Thank you so much! Heartbreaking to see otherwise..♥️♥️🙏

What you should do when teaching an animal to walk on a lead is to pull on the lead with a constant steady pressure, then when they take a step release the pressure, that way they figure out that walking with you is what gets rid of the pressure from the lead.
@rhondaborders34522 жыл бұрын
That make sense
@TallCFarms2 жыл бұрын
I was going to say this too!! I've raised over a dozen foals. Best way to teach leading is to let them figure it out themselves - and that "release of pressure" absolutely works.
@StarShine-Ranch2 жыл бұрын
@Ninjadogs33 - Excellent advice! Works great with alpacas, too! Then a little treat (food) at the end of the lesson is in order.
@valeriestevens52502 жыл бұрын
DJ can also loop a rope around her rump and tug on that. Feeling the pressure from behind will help encourage her to move forward then she can be rewarded with a treat. An alternative method that works with mules is to simply tie her to a post and let her figure out that pulling accomplishes nothing.

Funny & true story; When I first got married, my husband, not a Southern, brought home a large sack of tomatoes gifted by a co-worker. He said, "Can you believe the nerve of someone to give us all these green tomatoes?" He couldn't understand my excitement! End of story; he's come to love fried green tomatoes along with many other Southern delicacies. 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅

There is nitrogen in the air and when it rains it brings the nitrogen down to the ground to your plants and therefore feeds your plants. That is why the garden does so much better with rain versus hose watering. 😁

You you put pressure on them to walk forward when they make that forward movement even if one step release the pressure so they know that is what you want from them then repeat the process each time. Very good session always end your session with them doing what you were looking for such as stand back spin forward stc.

Last year we were putting in a lawn on part of our property. We had it hydroseeded and I spent so much time watering and babysitting the new grass. Then we got the good rain from the heavens. It was amazing how the seed sprouted and grew! I am keeping our small garden watered because we haven’t had as much rain as other areas. We should have plenty of cantaloupe this fall for ourselves and our kids and grandkids. Green beans and potatoes are up. We rent our farm land out and it is always amazing to watch the crops grow. I always look forward to your videos watching the garden, animals, new property, and everyday life.

I don’t know if it’s similar to horses, but you might want to try a little tip. Trying to pull more to the side. As soon as she take a step, release the pressure (stop pulling). Then start again. When she understands to take one step, you can ask for 2 steps, etc. So walking in a circle is helping (the horse) to understand the leading process. Hope it will help if you want to try it

Silvapasture is what your style of pasture is. Have you heard of the waterers that allow livestock to push down on the "lid" to allow them to drink? Seems like that would allow everyone to have access to fresh, clean water. And you could still keep the big troughs for the alpacas to use for cooling off.

What's in the rain water? during a thunder storm, the ionization in the atmosphere will bond nitrogen molecules to the water molecules as the rain droplets are forming. That ionic bonding holds until that water is taken up by plants. Your garden not only gets watered by the storm, it also gets a magically measured dose of naturally ionized nitrogen!
