Really cool technique for making a pocket on a knitted garment.

Thanks for making my 9 year old granddaughter a happy girl. She wore a hole in her hungry caterpillar socks, her second pair because she grew out of the first and they’ve been handed down to brother. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos since the Rose City Roller videos. You are just so real. Thanks again!

This is the most clear tutorial I’ve found for darning socks. I have done duplicate stitch over thinning stitches, but I can feel the bumps. Your method will work perfectly for my socks with thin heels. Yay! Socks saved!!! THANK YOU!!!

So glad I came across this video. My son presented me with a bag of hand knitted socks that I have made for him over a number of years. Sad to say every pair has huge holes in!! Rather than throw them away they were left in a drawer in the hope that I would be able to find a way to repair them. Your method of repair is ideal. Thank you. Greeting from the U.K.

Thank you SO much. I learned how to knit as a very young girl but never learned how to earn. Since I was the only k itter in my family no one could help. I have asked even at knit shops and all I would get was"oh that takes too much time...I'd rather just knit a new one"... I finally found someone smart enough to know the difference Thanks so much !!!! Now I can patch my own socks!!!!🎉🎉🎉 Love you channel. So far socks is all I have been brave enough to knots. Socks, scarfs and hats. Nothing with shaping...not yet! You and your family have a very Blessed Holiday Season! 🦃🎅🎄🎁

Thank you for such a helpful tutorial! Bravo to reclaimed socks and other knit! One thing I always do when giving hand knits away is to include a good scrap of yarn. They may not knit, but when they ask for a repair the yarn is available.

This is simply wonderful! I have a knee high pair I made with my own handspun Alpaca. Granted not as strong as one with a blend. However only one area was affected which was a heel. I am using your method to rebuild the entire bottom of the heel and it is coming out great! I was going to try the woven method when I looked thru your videos...Yay! This is the best way to patch socks as it is more close together mesh style instead of woven which is looser weave. I think this way it lasts longer!

Just found your video - YEA! I had the idea of knitting a patch, but how to attach the sides of the patch???? I wish that my hole was in a nice flat area - unfortunately I wear mine out at the heel turn and a little beyond. Once I picked up the stitches on the last row of the heel, I did another heel turn, and a couple rows beyond. Great video, great easy to follow instructions. Thank You! BTW - We use the same mantra for the Kitchener join!

Hi Jana, thank you for this great video. Are you using the same size needles or a smaller size. You say the size you are using but not the size the socks were knit with. I plan on using the same weight yarn and one size down for the needles.

I wear my socks out across the ball of my foot. I wonder if it might be worth it to reinforce the entire area with a patch.🤔

You sure could. Also, next time you knit a pair, you might consider working the sl1, k1 reinforcement across that particular area.
