Had no idea the switches + springs I was about to get were way to light (25g + 20g), so I feel like I just dodged a bullet by watching this. Thanks a bunch for the video!

You should remake this video for the lightning cabinet AC standard.

Lighting model is 50g springs and 50g microswitch. But right now for 50g they use vx switches and they suck

Thank you SOOO much for all the information! I've been looking for this all over, and couldn't find out what's the best configuration for the RES that I'm planning on buying. Best wishes from Brazil! :D

I've waited for this video. Fucking amazing amount of information. I even don't have any questions about buttons now. Now I even understand why i havn't spoted much difference between arcade keys and my crappy noname chineese keys.

Yeah as I said so long as you have the resistance down using a different type of keys doesn't really affect your setup too much. I will say though that sanwas feel incredible and if you have the money you really should invest into them.

darqs Well, sanwa set will cost like a half of my controller, so it is more likely that I will change springs+switches. I even know the shop there i could buy omrons locally, but I need to change my springs. Everything looks like I have 200g springs and 15g switches or something like this, because my keys requires 215g of total force and my switces are softer than 50g ones.

Weedle as I said at the start of the video the numbers I used are for factors you can control. Obviously default button pressure isn't factored in. If you are using DAO buttons it's likely with 15g springs you have 70-90g ADDITIONAL pressure which isn't ideal. Ignore the total pressure required as the video is just looking at spring and microswitch combinations when adding up the pressure (the total pressure values are still unknown to me as I don`t have an exact measure for measuring button resistance with the button pressure included)

Amazing video. Thanks a lot. I have standard dao fp7 setup and it feels really very "light" and sometimes i want a bit more resistanse.
@darqs
@darqs 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah the default DAO setups are VERY light and are a little difficult to play on as they dont give enough feedback when you hit the keys. I'd definitely recommend swapping to a different loadout

Hello, i'm planning on buying the new real edition controller from gamo2 very soon, only thing that's making me hesitate is the player side, what does it mean? If i buy a 2P controller can you flip the gameplay while playing singles?
@darqs
@darqs 8 жыл бұрын
+uneliasmarsu you can change play side at will on every controller with the exception of the Real Edition

Hey darqs, what do you think about 25g switches? Actually my setup is 25g omrons and 25g springs, so that's very light for what you've been saying in the video, for you, its better to have 100G springs with them? Have you tried that setups?
@darqs
@darqs 9 жыл бұрын
sorry for taking so long to get back to this! 25g switches are a little too light in my opinion. As I said in the video you'll be losing a lot of feedback on those switches compared to heavier setups. You'd want to be running ideally 50g to 100g switches.

So I have a DJ Dao controller and it's about 4 years old now. Key 7 is starting to go and I was considering buying a new key for it in general, but after watching this video should I just buy a new microswitch and spring for it?

So I'm planning on buying DJ Dao FPS controller, but the online shop doesn't say if there are springs in it. So, does this controller have them? And if so, how many grams?
@darqs
@darqs 10 жыл бұрын
FPS comes stock standard with 15g honeywell switches and 60g springs. I would highly recommend at LEAST buying 50gram switches as opposed to the honeywells becuase they tend to break VERY fast

+DARQs Do you know what the spring for the FP7 is. Also which controller would you recommend? FPS or FP7
@darqs
@darqs 8 жыл бұрын
40g springs are the default. Controller preference depends on a number of things. Look up "why the RE sucks" which covers this in detail

DANIEL you should use your beatmania expertise to beef up the rhythm game wiki section on beatmania which is practically empty - rhythmarcade.com/wiki/arcade_machines/beatmania_iidx

Haha i didn't even know there was a rhythm game wiki to begin with. I'll see what I can do to spruce up the wiki a bit. Also it's great to hear from you! :)
