Yea a number of the officers’ testimonies were pretty interesting. I don’t think it’s this day/video, but the officer who fired the 3 rounds at the back of the SUV had some stand out moments (I’d say funny moments, at least out of context, but in the context of the trial and the violence of the whole event, it’s hard to say “funny”. Maybe fascinating is better). Brooks seemed to think he figured out some secret, or found a loophole, because that officer had given the SUV’s license plate the night of the parade to other cops (per their written reports), but he couldn’t remember the plate NOR that he had provided it that night. But, the other cops and detectives who received the plate that night reported that it turned out to be the exact correct plate for Brooks’ SUV haha. Brooks was acting (and looking, with that silly furrowed brow, staring at the ceiling thing) as if somehow his questions would reveal some huge thing, but it led NOWHERE, and just wound up basically proving that the cop who shot at him DID see and accurately report the license plate, even if his memory wasn’t there (also, totally valid considering the magnitude of the event, the adrenaline and trauma etc).

Was a bit hard to take first thing when he gave the apology saying "i wasn't raised that way, i was raised in a Christian home, i wasn't raised to be rude and disrespectful "..im like shouting at the computer "but you were also probably not raised to be a mass murderer who runs over innocent people and kills them FFS"

True, and it's ticking me off that the judge is playing law teacher, over and over again. Although she said she would not do exactly that. And what's worse is she allowing the witnesses to be traumatized all over again rather than rein that career criminal in. That's just the sovcit trope. He isn't even trying very hard. He is mixing up different guru scripts. A little Marc Stevens. a little moorish american as well. He isn't even consistent in his objections. His defences seems to go between trying to argue that he was either trying to warn people to get away. Or somehow that someone else was in the car with him forcing him to run into people. None of that works. But the most damning of it all is that there was footage that shows HIM in the car driving into the parade. Like it actually shows his face. In the car. You just don't got a defences from that.

My take: The only info he has on each witness is a basic page or 2 that the public defender's office lazily compiled. So he doesn't even have any questions to ask them aside from reciting what's on their witness statements to try and sound smart and then throws around any random objection he can think of. He's enjoying the attention (flaming narcissist) and thought he could try to get off trying the sovereign citizen BS he must've heard about in jail waiting for trial. He didn't even do that part well, either. So he dumped his lawyers at the last minute so he could get to argue his nonsensical crap and get into petty arguments with the judge for fun.

To the people in Chat who said that what he did was a hate crime and should be charged: There's no point in adding more charges to the case, and runs a small risk of confusion or conflict for the jurors. If he's convicted, he's going away for one of the longest sentences ever given in that state. If he's acquitted (as unlikely as that seems), it's likely that additional charges wouldn't help.
