I've never owned a Duesenberg but friends who have swear by them. This guitar reminds me more of an arch top like the ones Gretscheck and Gibson produce. I've got to say this Duesenberg has a tone that sounds like it could play almost any style and excel at it. I've had a knockoff SG that had a Bigsby style temple. Had to retune after every song. I've not even seen any Bigsbys that I've tried on any guitar that was much better. This one seems to do well with staying tuned at the same time.

My wife got me a Starplayer TV Outlaw for my 50th. I can say without hyperbole it is the finest musical instrument I've ever played. It's a distillation of everything I like from any other guitar. It's got a Fender Scale, Gibson radius and a set neck. DB was spot-on with the trem - it's so smooth I play the theme to "Better Call Saul" all day long loving those subtle warbles. The neck is comfortable and every single part is solid and you can feel the design intent as soon as you touch it. I have a bunch of guitars, more than a healthy collection. I looked at quite a few of them (Epi Dot, Gretsch Electromatic, and maybe even the Les Paul Special) and I'm pretty sure they won't get played again because the Dusenberg does what they do much better. EDIT: Just to add the neck is PLEK'ed as well.
@guitarwolf666 Жыл бұрын
Hey Dan, I'm also going to check the Gretsch Electromatic out, bcause I need to own a semiacoustic guitar😅. The Starplayer is more the design I prefer and I love the sparkling color, but it's much more expensive than the Gretsch. Is it worth it though?

That P 90 clean tone, dude, that was so smooth and just rich sounding. The only thing I could say is that semi hollow spruce kills the sustain but if you are looking at an instrument like this, sustain is so low on the bar compared to just very rich sounds. Probably the cleanest and richest sounding instrument you have to date. If you are playing country or some blues rock , holy moly this is the guitar to own for that stuff.

I own a Starplayer TV. It is truly amazing. No doubt. Don't forget they PLEK each guitar in the factory, no dead spots, no high frets, just perfect. And you can set the action quite low. Their recommended action is 1.8mm on the low E and 1.5mm on the high e, which is very doable given the PLEK'd fretboard. It's pricy, but if you have it, it's worth it.

I keep adding guitars but always those on a budget! I tuned into this video because I do not have a double humbucker guitar yet. My most recent favorite guitar however is the Kramer VT 211s. I was excited to find one in a gray color where they added a periwinkle pickguard. I was shying away from this guitar because i wasn't excited about the colors that come with this guitar. But I love the gray with the changed pickguard and I'm adding Dove inlays to the fretboard that is maple. I love this guitar, it sounds wonderful and plays great. Can you or have you already done a video on this guitar? Thank you for making a living having so much fun! It's fun for me to watch you. I also have the Yamaha Pacifica and intended to add the alnico pickups which came in from China. The key reading on the pickups is five can 4K. A little low so I pursued another alnico guitar. This Kramer guitar came a long and really satisfies me with the sweet resonance that it has. Thanks in advance for doing a review on the Kramer VT 211 s 🤗☺️

the Duesenberg has the same distance from the first to the 22nd fret. Due to the small distance between the strings, the Starplayer is very stable in tuning. I bought mine in Germany in 2014 and together with the case it was €1000 cheaper than today. At that time I still thought Tom Bukovac is a master guitar builder with Polish descent who works at Duesenberg. I then learned the truth in Wacken.

Feels like the lovechild of a Gretsch, Les Paul, and Strat. A Gretsch for the aesthetic (kinda has a similar thing going on and the sound of that trem unit, a strat for the physical look of the trem arm kinda and the scale length, and aan LP for the body shape.and the pups are the kinds of thing one might find in LPs (but a mix). On a side note, humbucker in the bridge, P90 in the neck is a great pup combination. I have that in my Yamaha Pacifica. my Gretsch is my main (a 6118t) so I like this a lot. Too rich for my blood, and hard to get here in Australia anyway, but my Gretsch feels like it was built for my hands so I’m good.

I've played Gretsches for most of my life (6120 and 6136T) but just got my Duesenberg Starplayer TV last year. To compare, the Duesenberg definitely lives in the Gretsch-style family but it's so much better. I love the Duesenberg for everything except Rockabilly (it'll do it, but I prefer the 6120). The thing I like about the Duesenberg is that if you see one, you know it's the high-end version. There isn't a lesser line built in a different country that sells for 1/4 the price like you have with the major brands. The hardware is truly special and the sound with the single coil / dual coil combo is truly its own voice. You can hear it on records (early Hillsong tunes feature this heavily) and know it's a Duesenberg. To me, the unique sound, high end only option, and tactile sensation of German-machined hardware is enough to justify the price. Great review. I think a lot of people will be considering adding a Duesenberg to their collection with this review.
