Thanks for doing this. Brilliant idea. So excited to see this grow. Breath of fresh air ... we scream at radio Scotland every morning as the only experts or people with experience of the subject matter as well people available for general comment... don't have Scottish accents or even Scottish working class or experience of being brought up here. I have no problem with people choosing to live here or bringing their learning or expertise here... indeed I welcome it BUT it drives me daft that we have no one from here with any voice in these matters!

YT why haven't I been getting notifications for this podcast??? Saw a short of episode 3 and sought out Common People (avoiding the Commons People podcast which seems to prevail when googling) and eventually found this podcast, went straight to the subscribe button only to find I've already subscribed (I have memory problems) and that I'd selected the "all notifications" subscription but haven't had any notifications until the short of ep 3. Really looking forward to a binge on the eps I've missed.

Brilliant idea, Darren. I commented at my book club (sounds poncy, but isnae) this weekend that I couldn’t listen to someone whose work was recommended to me because I am so very tired of that type of voice - not even the middle-class, but the tier above. And I mentioned you as the antidote. Then lo and behold, a link to this pops up. Interested in it all - but particularly perhaps an exploration of working class and creative industries/creative pursuits at some point.

really looking forward to see what comes of this channel, lets not just recreate the old forms of media but on youtube, the possibilities that peer to peer, independent alternative media need to be explored and experimented with, your voice is a rare one not just its the same old shit in a working class voice but because its the kind of points and observation that can only really be made by a working class person, not 100% cause middle class people can sometimes manage to make the same observations but its rare and takes serious self and class interrogation.

Glad this was in my KZbin feed, looking forward to it! Be good to hear from people who haven't necessarily had the privileges to get on in life. Many working class people I grew up with weren't encouraged to express opinions, seen as "gobby" or "know alls", or too self conscious about our accent /grammatical mistakes. Best of luck Darren!
