I don't know whether to be proud, ashamed or just appalled to be the recipient of two sanctions while laid in an ICU bed less than 24 hours after heart attacks. The first heart attack was the day before a scheduled interview at the job centre, whilst not my top priority I did let the DWP know I couldn't attend and the reason. The second heart attack was mid interview in the job centre itself. If I'd only hung on for 10 minutes more before ringing 999 and finished the interview I might have avoided that particular sanction. I successfully appealed both decisions and my payments resumed however the first wasn't backdated so I received nothing for that month.

You are absolutely right. The whole system is a farce and very degrading to those who want to work. I am on benefits, i am disabled ( not so you can see it but i have 4 chronic illnesses that render me disabled) yet I have a small part-time job, only 3 days a week but I love it. My employers are caring and understanding of my illnesses should I need time off or a trip to the hospital. I am on current sick leave due to just having heart surgery ( it went wrong so I have to take more time off work) yet the DWP have rung me to find out what happening ( why aren't I looking for a full-time job etc). Every other month I have to go up to the local offices for an interview etc and tell them what Im doing. Yeh, I am a gobby shite, but I'm educated too and know how these kind of systems work. It's degrading having to sit there, in front of someone who has got a job and explains that even though you are working and trying to find more work there are just not enough local jobs out there. I even got told to apply for a job that was 30 miles away having to rely on public transport to get there and the dwp know i am not allowed to travel by myself and I can not drive due to my medical issues. PIP is another one. I feel that this new regime they want to bring in getting disabled people to work from home just isn't going to work, because employers are going to take advantage of this or employees who don't want to ( not won't but don't) will take advantage of it. I feel the DWP will start putting people that cant work into workhouses again. We are going back in time not forward. Surely they should be bringing in better support systems for those who want to work but are limited and for those who just don't want to work then put them into a work place to earn their benefits and if they don't do that work they simply don't get paid.

Because they don't care about what people are going through they want people working when they are poorly or what ever their circumstances may be its sad though if you're poorly you shouldn't be looking for work they need to change the system and a new government

I have been on benefits for about 4 years now , because when I hit the age of 55 , I was entitled to my works pension " a scheme that I have been paying into since I was 19 . I have no intentions of ever working again , because as far as I'm concerned I am retired No , not retarded lol 😂 . and I just look for jobs and fill my journal in . just to go through the motions , so I don't get sanctioned . they play the system , so why shouldn't I . Because if this government can spend £7 million a day on illegal people entering this country , there is no way am I paying my tax towards that shitttt " no way And if an employer phones me up and says you have applied for this position I tell them the truth And it can't be anyone from the DWP making out there and employer because that's called entrapment they can't use that in a court of law 🇬🇧 .

To put that 130 000 deaths into perspective, the bombing of Hiroshima cost the lives of 140 000 people.

As a new subscriber I really couldn't agree more. I saw only today how Jeremy Hunt's new policies are going to work. If people refuse interviews etc, they may have free prescriptions taken away. I mean, what part of picking-on-the-vulnerable do these people just not get?! Doesn't their quest of taking medication away from the vulnerable, alone, prove how suspect their policies really are?

The attitude of welfare in Britain supposed all are disingenuous claimants, avoiders of gainful employment, not so for the vast majority, I had to endure work related interviews , with physical and acute mental issues, The idea of stopping paying out long term sickness, by means of short term employment was all it amounted to. The interviews stopped when I was told I was unemployable because I was uninsurrable by any employers, and was shortly afterwards admitted to hospital for cancer for the second time.meanwhile there are thousands of non British lining up for benefits, whom the government are knocking themselves out to pay them....

Totally agree with you. I think if you are to come into the UK by legal means you have to show that you are willing to work, or have some kind of life skill that you can find gainful employment in if you haven't then I'm sorry you can't come in. For those reading this and shaking their head saying this is harsh, yeah it is but have you thought about if you wanted to go to live abroad what you would have to do to achieve this? Im not bashing on asylum seekers, yes we need to help them, but the men that come across in their little boats and land on Dover/ Folkestones coasts then just run they need hunting down and sent back or made to work. The DWP interviews are degrading and dehumanising to those who are genuinely disabled and need the help and a better system needs to be put into place. I hope you are on the road to recovery xx
