Lots of positives on this one & there should be in this price range (Amazon - $72.00 US-?)-- but 20,000 counts, great software package, nice display, solid backlight, hi / fast capacitance range etc. looks like all they need to do with that selector wheel is make the edge grip more aggressive for a better grip etc.

Totally 👍 Agree Mike! This is a very solid clamp with great performance and feature packed! An improved selector dial would be a big plus as you mentioned. My only concern is the price as it seems to be all over the map right now. Hoping it gets below 50$

Nice review. Saw another review comparing it to the UNI-T UT210E and Owon seems to have skimped on the input protection circuit by removing the PTCs/MOVs from 5 to a single one and downsizing the remanining one. Would be cool if you could grab a Mestek CM85, as it seem to use a similar project (although with a better and horizontal display) and do a roundup video. :)

One thing I realized missing from this meter while using today is the PEAK hold function, specially measuring current while powering up a device. The smaller jaws are common among meters measuring DC current in mA range. Most meters with larger jaws can't accurately measure DC current in milliamp range.

Agreed. Peak is a very useful function on a clamp. Honestly, If I had to choose, I'd forgo the VFC in favor of PEAK functionality. It's something I think more people would use too. Good point about the smaller jaws.

Hi Darren. I agree with the assessment. I fully support you. The device is good, convenient, not bulky, just right for an electrician. But it could have been better, although the cons are not so critical. I noticed that OWON is trying to repeat some of the best OEM developments. They don't accept poor quality models. "This little meter does it all" So tell me, with all the things these "smart"-ish meters do, how come they don't tell you the condition of the battery inside? How difficult would it be for the meter to briefly tell you what the % of the battery capacity when powered up or you press a button? Heck my $7 transistor tester tells you the cell/battery voltage each time you take a reading. If I didn't already buy a Uni-T UT210E I would consider the one reviewed for sure. Thanks again for putting this together!

Right on Paul! ..I couldn't agree more. Why a battery life indicator is so obscure is a great question 🤔 OWON, let's take it up a notch and add this feature to the next clamp...👍 Otherwise, it's definitely a solid clamp and gives the UNI-T a run for the 💰

Not a bad little instrument for domestic and automotive use. Great functionality on the NCV. I don't have any test instruments from Owon so not sure of their long term reliability and robustness. Thanks for the review.

First time seeing OL on any meter while measuring low ohms🤔(Bad resistor?). Still not sure how input jack color adds safety (especially if something doesn't contain a clamping MOV and fuse or measure any current). Mistakenly measuring a charged PSU filter cap will likely be the death of this thing - ka-ching$!

Great stuff! Color coded inputs are just good general practice, mind you..if the meter is analog, there's a possibility of damaging the needle with negative voltages. The low resistance OL is a strange one, I'm still trying to figure that one out. 1 Ohm was no issue.

@@KeepOnTesting Quite likely a Chineesium battery or worse.. maybe a defective current source in the meter that shuts down at or near short circuit. Maybe use Daves low burden DMM in series measure MA stability @1ohm then .5 ohm to see it drop out. Never seen this defect before.

What’s a good ac/dc clamp that’s easy on the wallet but built well. I work underground in a moist and dusty environment. My fluke died today and I’m trying to replace it as cheap as possible. I do still have a fluke i1010 clamp as well but not sure what it works with besides fluke. Did some testing today and it for a smith wire from Lowe’s but not sure the amps was correct lol. Thanks for sharing. I got lucky and stumbled across you channel this evening

Welcome aboard! The UNI-T UT219PV Pro is a solid clamp. It boasts IP65, so it's weatherproof and rugged too. Great performance and a very nice display. Another good clamp is the KPS PA720 not very popular but built solid and great features too. No IP65 Rating though.

Also the Kaiweets HT208D is solid but I don't think it will do well with those moist dusty conditions ..KLEIN CL390 also a good choice but not as weather resistant as the UNI-T.

Very nice clampmeter. In Germany available for 56€ (CM2100B with BT) or 36€ (CM2100 without BT). The counts, the BL independent from any senseless restricting timer and especially the BT connectivity dedicating this meter practically as "to-go" multimeter for car electrics. The higher resolution makes it possible to detect minor changes (for example: Voltage drain in a battery), unfortunately it does´nt come with a higher accuracy (0.7% and 3 counts). As perfect as it is for working at car electrics, as bad fitting it is for measuring mains voltage, because of its lack of electric safety (no beefy resistors, only one PTC - only at the input-terminals, no isolation slots). And, btw. if you live in a country with mains voltage for real men, the RMS voltage of 230 Volt AC means a peak voltage of 325 V and exceeds therefore the claimed (not independend tested) rating of 300V Cat III anyways. Hence for electronics in the beginning (battery driven circuits) and car electrics pretty fine DMM, for working with mains - not so much.

I did a full teardown in the review and it showed some basic input protection in circuit. Nothing can substitute for user awareness while using around high voltage. 😅

I have this clamp meter as well since a few days and it's nice clamp meter that does lots of things right. There is one thing though they should be more honest about, in the Current range it is not 20.000 counts, but only 2000, just like the Uni-T UT210E. Other than that, it surpasses the Uni-T except for input protection.

Great point. The display counts are not completely 20k across the measurement ranges This is usually the case with most high count display multimeters.

It already defaults to DCV.. You have to manually select continuity. Its shared with Resistance, diode and capacitance.

Hola, yo compré esa pinza por ALIEXPRESS hace unos meses desde chile.... todo funcionaba perfecto , menos la funcion V.FC , cuando media corriente y la activaba , se caia demaciado la corriente, estaba mal esa función.... entonces me puse en contacto con OWON, les mande videos de la falla y constancia de la compra de ALIEXPRESS , y despues de varios correos me enviaron otra pinza por garantía, y ya vino sin falla en la función V.F.C .....por lo demas es excelente pinza, muy precisa en corrientes bajas. La recomiendo..... Solo le coloque un VARISTOR de protección en la enrada, ya que no trae... le puse el 07D561K

No you should be fine. 24v is still fairly low voltage even though it's in temp mode the internal circuitry should be able to handle it. Temperature sensors are fairly resistant 😊

Where is the 20,000 counts display for the OWON 2100B compared to the UNI-T UT210E that has a 2,000 counts display with DC Amps? That is why I will consider purchasing the OWON 2100B from an Amazon Prime seller as it has Bluetooth also?
