Vader sounds like automated, but consistent breathing. Starkiller sounds like perpetual wheezing, like his lungs weren't damanged enough to justify fully automating, so the suit aids with inhaling, but does nothing for the exhale, which is why it's so hard for him.

Exactly. Vader doesn't even have lungs anymore. He has an automated system like you said. It constantly pumps oxygen into his bloodstream. I love the contrast! Vader probably has more support in his suit since it was made with high grade medical treatment. Starkiller on the other hand had his suit made in the last minute before his body was completely damaged. Both of them are constantly in pain the entire time in their suits. However, I think Starkiller has it worse given his severe dyspnea most likely caused from his ship crushing his lungs. Sure, Vader's body was burnt completely... but Starkiller had his body literal crushed to a crisp by his own ship's exhaust port. we can assume this caused his skin to bleach and burn like Vader's into a pale white and completely rip off his arms. Though unlike Vader, his organs from the inside probably was either completely destroyed or bruised. dude survived something way more lethal than Vader ever did. I think its also fair to assume (like Vader) Starkiller's abilities hurt himself. when Starkiller uses force lightning, he screams in anger and pain when he uses said ability. This is probably partly due to his robotic prosthesis running though his arms along with god knows how many artificial organs placed into him.
@nickthepick8043
@nickthepick8043 3 жыл бұрын
You have no idea how much I appreciated your well-written response. Thank you. I concur with all your statements. The thing is, Vader himself had vat-grown organs replacing his originals, or they were supplemented with mechanical implants. Vader's reconstruction was rushed as well, however. And I have a theory that Starkiller's reconstruction was not. In my opinion, this is worse because his new body was designed to cause him pain like you said. Which by the way, I'm glad you pointed out. After all, the more pain you're in, the more angry you get, and that makes it easier to draw upon the Dark Side of the Force. That's what makes it terrifying. We all know how horrible it was to be in Vader's lifesupport suit, but we still don't have a clue about Starkiller's, and most likely never will. The mystery is way more intriguing than the explanation, my friend!
@artorias6321
@artorias6321 3 жыл бұрын
@@nickthepick8043 I actually, I looked it up! You're right! Starkiller's body was reconstructed with a lot of patience and time. Parts of his body was built with spare parts from Vader's robotic limbs. Most, if not all of Starkiller's bones were broken as well, making most of his skeleton made from some of Vader's prosthesis materials. The Emperor also had Starkiller's his hands removed and replaced with a robotic ones. its spooky... to some degree, vader still haunts him on the inside! Starkiller's lifesupport was also explained in the wiki and concept art details. His lungs were ruptured but not replaced... The Emperor had them keep the damaged ones in his chest to keep him angry. His voice was also partially spoken from his mask too since his jaw was removed completely... under the mask... Starkiller looks really disgusting. all that was left of him was his upper torso, arms, and parts of his head.

@@artorias6321 That's right! Kinda like Darth Malak as well. I find it interesting that he could still project Force Lightning, However. Since it requires living tissue to cast it. Vader couldn't do it because not only does he have cybernetic arms, but the Lightning would backfire and affect his lifesupport systems. And to think, it was only my theory that Starkiller's reconstruction wasn't like Vader's. Good on you for doing research! But geez, ruptured Lungs? Vader didn't even HAVE lungs after Mustafar. Respirators pumped oxygen into his bloddstream constantly, and he couldn't control it. Starkiller CAN control his breath, but it's painful each time.
@artorias6321
@artorias6321 3 жыл бұрын
@@nickthepick8043 you know, this is just speculation but I wouldn't be surprised that the emperor kept his ruptured lungs to keep Starkiller at bay as well. Starkiller relies on immense speed and strength and breathing helped starkiller do so. you can actually hear him take deep breaths in each jump and dash. also, I think Starkiller used all of his arms to cast force lightning half of the time. while it isn't clear, most of the promotional trailers show Starkiller with force lighting all the way up to his shoulders.
@nickthepick8043
@nickthepick8043 3 жыл бұрын
@@artorias6321 That's true! He can project it with one hand in short bursts, but he mostly uses both hands to cast the ability. I can also imagine that his ruptured lungs also would have that effect as well, even though Starkiller could just use the Force to reduce swelling or pain in that region in his body. Force-based augmentation is the standard practice for all Jedi initiates. And after reading Starkiller's bio, he excels at this, much like Darth Maul did before him. But it's also worth mentioning that the novelization implies that after Vader reconstructed him aboard the Empirical, Starkiller believed he had genetic and cybernetic augmentations already before Palpatine crippled him. Bottomline is he wasn't "regular" anymore. In the novel, when Vader threw that stone table at his chest, it didn't kill him. Hell, it probably just barely broke his ribs.

That is indeed the way I see it. Vader learned to work with and take advantage of his cybernetics, where Starkiller is still struggling with the new circumstances with which he lives in. I love how both of these manage to be painful in different ways that fit the characters. Vader sounds like he’s constantly heaving for air, like he can never be at peace because the simple function of being a living breathing person carries so much more weight to him reflecting how the same spark of good inside him that Luke brings out is likely full of regret and shame, that this existence filled with constant rage and pain is the only way he can bring himself to live anymore. His breathing is steady but robotic, showing that it’s the soul inside the man that died when he was put in the suit. Starkiller is ragged and overtly painful, he isn’t in agony because he’s struggling for air it’s because he’s broken beyond the point of fixing. Vader’s breath is steady and heavy like an anchor keeping him firmly in the realm of the living but Starkiller sounds like he’s one touch away from falling apart. He already proved himself an untrustworthy and feral animal and now his body is being pupated around for what little use it has left, left to stew in endless agony both for punishment and because it’s the only thing strong enough to keep this broken animal alive.

@@ravonbox6050 Phenomenal is the operative word. That game's sandbox was the perfect way to portray the Force without entirely tarnishing it in the films. Starkliller is mostly facing against grunts, who give a fair share of challenge when the units are mixed. Plus, he's just using his force abilities more proactively. The reason why most force users use restraint, like the bosses in this game, is so they can maximize their combative longevity without burning themselves out. Basically, firepower over condensed power.

There's something I don't fully comprehend about star killer.... In the dark ending/DLC he has robotic augmentation that look like claws. I am not completely sure if they're apart of his body but wouldn't it be impractical? Also, if they are a part of his body, wouldn't force lightning backfire similar to vader? Also for his breathing apparatus, it seems less human and more machine. Vader's voice was more distinct than starkiller's voice. If I had to give an analogy, it almost sounds like the robotic voice you'd hear after a smoker had surgery on his vocal cords but much more painful to the ears. Which would make sense sense given he's on the dark side.
@nickthepick8043

You're right on many accounts. Vader's respirator works on its own. He can't slow it down or stop it as much. It essentially means he has no control over his breathing. Hell, he doesn't even have Lungs anymore. Cybernetics pump oxygen into his bloodstream constantly. Starkiller's on the other hand? If I were a gambling man, I'd wager that it's because he still has lungs, but supported with crude cybernetics. The key difference is that he can control his breathing, which makes the grating pain worse for him. A cruel irony of sorts, but it could also boost his connection to the Dark Side. As for the arm thing, I think I remember bringing that up in my Force Unleashed Videos. I think there's enough flesh on there that would allow for some sort of Force Lightning Discharge. And as for it backfiring, I'd say a lot of time has passed since Vader's augmentation, and arguably Grevious had better Cybernetics than Vader did. So for all we know Palpatine gave Starkiller slightly less restricting ones so as to not hinder his capabilities, but leave just enough restriction so as to not keep him out of line.
@Santabandicoot
@Santabandicoot 2 жыл бұрын
Unlike Vader, who's hands were completely robotic, Lord Starkiller's left hand is completely organic while his right hand still has enough flesh remaining to allow him to use force lightning. The claws are attached to the hands via rings around each finger I believe so they probably don't hinder his force lightning potential, or at worst they required practice in order to overcome any setbacks they presented.

There's an interesting interaction in the Tatooine DLC where Starkiller/Galen encounters Proxy in Jabba's garbage cellar. It's unknown how he ended up there, but Proxy has just enough functionality left to assist his master/friend on one last occasion. Galen's responses invokes a sense of sadness that makes you wonder what could have been. Both of them are broken here. It's a rare moment of vulnerability from a Sith Lord.

Technically the cyborg armor is not the same as his stalker armor as its description says it has even more extreme augmentations so likely he has a lot more of himself left than you think... Even so his lungs still sound completely messed up here so you're probably right if they can afford it disney likely won't touch anything like this with a 10ft pole lol Edit: I forgot his armor is in andor so who knows

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 1 was the best Star Wars game that I ever played, my favorite Star Wars spin-off from all time, and Starkiller was and still is my favorite Star Wars character from all of them. I don't know why exactly, but unlike Luke, Han, Obi Wan, Darth Vader, and many other "main-main" classic and iconic characters from Star Wars franchise, Starkiller was the only Star Wars character that I feel identified in a way. But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I look myself in real-life as a poweful gray jedi, throwing lightsabers as a pro, or pushing very far, far away stormtrooper out of space with the force, nor another science fiction from Star Wars. Because I'm really nothing like that. I guess I feel identified with Starkiller because of his personality and motivations. In my real life I always tried to work hard to show the people my skills and loyalty, specially back to school with team projects, without knowning if my classmates they're gonna tread me like a friend, or if they're just gonna use me until they don't need me anymore. And in my experiences, I have people who I worked proudly with them, thinking that they considered me as a friend and a esencial part of the team. But then in a day, like any other, they just kicked me out from their team just like that, because they found another "friend" to work with him, feeling myself betrayed and making me feel myself also that I was just nothing more than a puppet and a slave to them, until they considere me completely useless for their team, knowing that I was just working for the wrong people. Then I had to work with another group, but now with less trust in my classmates. But when I thought that this new team they're gonna kicked me out soon or later, like the previous team, they actually treat me like an important part of the team. Because unlike the previous team, this people really respected my work, gaving me many honest thanks, saying also that without my hard contribution for the team, probably would never had the best note in our class as a team. All those of experiences that I had in my school kinda reminds me of Starkiller's experiences too. Because Starkiller also had to work (or forced to do it) with Darth Vader since he was just a kid, showing to him all his potential and loyalty, risking his life many times, managing to kill some powefull jedis, only for Vader's loyalty. But when he thought that both him and Vader they're finally fight against the Emperor, Vader just stab him in the back literally, using him only as a tool, even with the plan about making a rebeld alliance against the Emperor now. But when Starkiller was betrayed twice by Vader, they make now a trully redemption to save this rebeld alliance that he made. And all his work, determination and (only in his case) sacrifice, made all the rebel alliance that we know in the original trilogy, and his father's symbol was also used as a symbol of hope for the galaxy. Also I liked the rest of the new characters like Proxy, he was like a badass version of C3PO; Kota, who despite that he ended up blind and drunk because of Starkiller, Kota also ended up respecting Starkiller as a grey jedi, and even as a friend, most like Obi Wan and Anakin's friendship; and even I like relationship between Starkiller and his love interest Juno. Until Lucasarts turned the character of Juno in the "princess Peach" of Star Wars. Talking about the sequel, Lucasarts really did a big waste of potential to that sequel. Because despite that it have a good gameplay and graphics, which surprisingly age well, even today, its lack of clothing, scenarios, common enemies and specially bosses (which that was the best thing in the first game) was extremely dissapointed, and the story was basically a Stars Wars version of Mario trying to save princess Peach from Bowser until the end of the game, but with Starkiller, Juno and Vader instead, having a much bigger cliff hanger that it never solved. And It's really a big shame, because I liked the idea to see Starkiller again, using now 2 lightsabers in the combat, and see the rest of the characters of Kota, Proxy and Juno alive and together with Starkiller. And aparently Lucasarts was planned to make a third game, which you can play both as Starkiller and Vader in a coop mode, in a story about stop the Emperor definitely. But the collosal failure of the Force Unleashed 2, combined with Disney owning Star Wars rights then, Lucasarts ended up shutting down their doors, and then Disney decided to remove the spin-off of the Force Unleashed from the canon. Because they said that Starkiller was so powerfull than even Yoda and the Emperor combined, so they needed it to remove him from the canon because of that. A very stupid and hypocrite answer, considering that Disney later on turned the character of Rey into a MUCH MORE over-powerful character from Star Wars than Starkiller, but with almost 0 character development. But after seeing all the things that Disney did to Star Wars with its forced, politilical correct, feminazi and nonsense bullshit, I prefer to still to continue seeing Star Wars The Force Unleashed as canon from the franchise (at least just the first one) and removing all that crap from the sequel trilogy from the canon as a fan, having also my own fanfiction about what could it be better to see and happen in the Force Unleashed 2 and 3. Sorry about my LARGE comment, but I wanted to express all my feelings about this game and characters that I love so much. Because that spin-off deserved something much better.

No need to apologize, my friend. I'm the one who should be sorry for not responding sooner. Life keeps me busy, but man I really love that you took the time to write such a thoughtful comment. I'm sorry that your first group treated you that way, but I'm more happy for you that you found a group that treated you the way you wanted to be treated! You pretty much nailed Starkiller's perspective on his alliances in a nutshell. Hell, even in the novelization the story touched upon this. As to the second game, I can agree on your points. But I still love it to this day. But I can agree, that Juno was sort of reduced to a Princess Peach in a way. But, the graphic novel of this game gave Juno a lot more to do. It takes place from Boba's perspective of the events, but without spoilers, she does influence him in a way. And knowing how good the Force Unleashed 3 could have been, I think it's best if Starkiller and the rest of "Legends" remain non-canon. That way, they can't ruin them any further from their source material, unlike characters such as Luke or Leia. You also made an excellent point in regards to Rey, as an OP Mary Sue. The whole point of getting rid of the EU was to give JJ a clean slate, and to avoid any complexities in regards of what can be done with the Force, but they made it confusing anyway. Starkiller is powerful, yes, but everywhere he goes there's always a challenge for him. Rey doesn't get challenge, or development. If you're a Force User of any affiliation, you earn your power through blood, sweat, and tears. The Force doesn't give you any leeway. Thanks for commenting, and sorry for not responding sooner!

@@nickthepick8043 Don't worry about it either. Because I have also my own busy works too. And I guess you have a good point. Removing The Force Unleashed and Legends from the canon could be the best in a way. Because if Disney would ruin also the characters of Starkiller, Kota, Proxy and Juno, just like they did with Luke, Leia and Han, I would definetly lost completely my respects with them. Because despite that Luke, Leia and Han are some of the main icons from Star Wars, Starkiller, like I said before, is my favorite Star Wars character from all time, and I would hate that Disney also ruin my favorite character, in another level. But I have to be honest. Before episode VIII and IX came out, I actually liked the episode VII from the sequel. I always wanted a stormtrooper like Fine making redemption against the Empire and fighting along with the rebelds. Poe was for me a good and pro pilot, like Luke and Anakin, and I actually liked the friendship between him and Fine. BB8 was a cutest version of R2D2. And even Rey, she looked at first like an intriguing and misterious character, who don't know who is she exactly or where she come from, and my first thoughts about her was that probably she is Luke's daughter, who because of desperate situations, Luke left her in Tatooine, after loosing everything thanks to Ben's betrayal and the New Order. Also that Rey was Han and Leia's nephew and Ben's cousin. But when episode VIII and IX came out, all my thoughts about this new characters were completely destroyed thanks to Disney's forced, political correct, feminazi and nonsense bullshit, making me lose all my respects and interests about all this characters from the sequel trilogy. The sequel thematic wasn't bad, but the execution was a complete mess. However, despite all the crap that I saw in the sequel, I still respect Disney a little bit, thanks to Rogue One and Star Wars Rebelds series. Rogue One unlike episode VIII and IX, actually respected the lore of the original trilogy, and the new characters from this film actually had a descent character development. Star Wars Rebelds on the other hand I actually liked it very much, just like Clone Wars, but sometimes I wished that Starkiller, Kota, Proxy and Juno had their own spin-off series like Rebelds, or even combine the Redelds events with the Force Unleashed. Because I still feeling that it was very unfair that Disney remove Starkiller's story and the original born of the Rebeld alliance, and I would definetly like to see Starkiller in the small screen, with the Rebelds or Clone Wars art style. Specially because Starkiller's voice actor portrayed also Darth Maul both in Rebelds and Clone Wars. But who knows what could it done Disney with Starkiller if this actually happened? Also, in a way, I like the Force Unleashed 2 even today like you too. But comparing it with the first game, I still feeling very dissapointed with all the flaws that the game still have, having myself more fatigue to replaying it. However, I found very interesting the thematic about Starkiller being cloned, and despite that there is no more continuation of The Force Unleashed series, I still believe that Starkiller from TFU2 is actually the original Starkiller, and even I had my own theory about that. My theory was that after the events of TFU1, Vader instead of get rid off the corpse of his aprentice, he took his body to Kamino to try to cloning him. Because Vader was surprised that Starkiller almost manage to kill him, and his potential was so big to waste it completely. Because it could be a solution to stop the rebelds. But Vader not only manage to clone "succesfully" Starkiller, but also he resurrected the original Starkiller. However, despite that Vader had already many clones of Starkiller, most of them were more weak, unstable and unhuman versions of Starkiller. And despite that he still had that particular clone, with many potential, Vader still had a distrust with any of Starkiller's clones. So in case that the jedi cloning turn into a complete failure, Vader tried to convince the actual Starkiller that he was another clone, in order to make him kill all the Rebeld alliance that he made, including his new mentor and friend Kota and specially Juno. Just like Starkiller said to Vader at the end of the game: "Maybe Kota is right. Maybe this is just a trick in order to confuse me, to the point to forget who I am and being your slave one more time." The jedi cloning wasn't a bad thematic, but the execution was awful, combined with how short the story was. I wished that the story never had at least this vibe of "Mario saving princess Peach from Bowser to the end of the game.". But the thing that it still surprising me is that the PS2/Wii version of both TFU 1&2 have actually more content than the PS3/XBOX 360/PC version. In the PS2/Wii version of TFU1 are actually more scenarios and enemies to fight, and even an additional mission to find and save Garm. And in the case of TFU2 despite that they didn't add more places and enemies to fight, at least they gave more unique scenarios in the pre-existed ones. Like a beautiful garden in Cloud City, escaping from a destroyed version of the Salvation, fighting a couple of times alongside with Kota as an actual team, having at least some QTE fights with Boba Fett, instead of following them only, without doing absolutely nothing, and even the Dagobah "mission" turned into an actual mission, instead of a 20 seconds level with nothing to do, and even they added at least a couple of outfits. But it's a real shame that they never add those PS2/Wii extra content to the PS3/XBOX 360/PC version. Because that could it help to upgrade the gameplay and story of both TFU 1&2 for all the platforms. Also I already saw the comic of TFU2 but despite that it showed more content with Boba's perspective, having himself an actual influence from Juno. That doesn't change the fact that Juno was reduced in the sequel into a "Princess Peach" from Star Wars, instead of being a female character who always try to support and motivate the protagonist, like she did in the first game.

@@nickthepick8043 Well to be fair, Rey did get a challenge in the Last Jedi from Snoke. That WAS until he got one-shot by Kylo Ren. Overall when it came to power scaling certain Force-Sensitive characters, DISNEY always either went astoundingly weak or ridiculously overpowered. As for the story, it was obviously a clusterfuck. Mostly because of how people reacted negatively to TLJ which resulted in DISNEY taking GIANT leaps backward and doing a last-minute ass backward ripoff of the Dark Empire Trilogy that tried to proactively retcon the events of the first 2 movies across the board. Therefore ruining new characters that had the potential to be good, on top of the old ones they bastardized already.

Comments are saying that Starkiller’s got scarier breathing, but I think it’s “too much.” It’s the simple and unassuming nature of Vader’s breathing that makes it chilling.

Exactly. Most people don't know that Palpatine's got a little hobby in making Force Sensitive servants to the Empire that are light-copies of Vader himself. The Dark Jedi in his Empire aren't true Sith, so it's okay for him. All in all, having more beings like Vader further enforces the image of what the Empire represents.
