It's so stupid tho, why not make it so that all shelves and tables have slots where you can put things from the start, all this glitching instead of just making it a basic function from the start

@Fizzure3000 I can only assume it's more difficult than it seems. I've seen other games that have similar problems. They could possibly go down the display route and have allocatable slots, but you wouldn't be able to fill the selves as completely.

The disappearing bear happens when you just remove the chessboards without emptying them. Super annoying. So you should unmerge before you remove them so you don’t lose anything important you’ve merged

The only negative is that there are still just 30 slots for display items, as a guy who likes to have shelfs for magazines, bobbleheads and display cases etc...needs to be more slots for displays imo

Put a poker chip under the chessboard and the items that clip into the units will now sit atop of the units.

Or instead of wasting camp space just use the camp module to jump it twice and then merge down.

If you make a blueprint of a chessboard and a floor object like the duck, you can merge the chessboards so you can get more junk even closer together.

This would be such a game changer, if your entire camp wasn't limited to a total of 30 displays. That includes the Fasnacht masks, the Thanksgiving displays for your bears and Mr Fuzzys, etc. It REALLY limits how much decoration you can add to your camp. Better than nothing, but a shame that more can't be placed.

@jayjee1612 unfortunately I don't think there's anything that works this way on the current season. It'll take a while but it may come up on the Atomic Shop eventually.

@@jayjee1612 I wrote a support ticket to Bethesda 2 days ago and as long as your level 16 or above on the current season and have the tickets to buy the chess board they will deduct tickets and add to your account. Took 8 hours from the moment I contacted them before it showed up In My account

@@leo2k_394 I went to Bethesda support and wrote a ticket for wanting to buy the chess board and they said because of the way last season ended that they would do one time last season purchases. Long as you were the level needed to buy the item you wanted and had the tickets to pay for it.

Great video, but, how do you get the junk that is in your bag out and be able to place it on the chessboard? when you place the board down, how do you select the junk in your bag, and place it on board, the only thing i can do is drop, and it drops in bag, how do you put the junk on the board? No one shows the step of placing it on the board, exactly how you get from bag to board.

Good question. Once you've built it, back out of build mode and activate the object. That'll bring up basically the same menu you see when accessing your stash. From there you'll see an option to "Assign" an object to the display. You won't necessarily be able to assign everything, weapons for example only go on specific displays, but those things you can use will show up on the chessboard. You can move it afterwards in building mode and the displayed object will move with it. Fyi whatever you display will go into your stash, if it wasn't there already, so you will need to make sure you have enough space.

@@DarthXionGames still a bit confused, i dont have the chessboard, but according to other videos, you might be able to use something else, if im wrong, please let me know. I have seen ppl use rugs, but not sure if you can with junk, i tried with rug, but never got to where i could assign it. I just started this game a month ago so im learning and there is no vids on how to use junk, only the end process of merging, what steps need to be accomplished. I really appreciate your help on this matter

@gregkirkhart2373 unfortunately when it comes to junk items the chessboard is (currently) the only option. You can use other displays to put junk in, but it'll be sitting in a cabinet rather than on something you can merge in. Most people use merging to combine larger pieces of furniture to give them a different look or to put decorative objects onto the lower levels of shelving units. Rugs can be used in a few ways to achieve different effects, like making things sit closer together. I merge an outhouse into them in order to make it sit closer to the ground. They don't function to attach junk to though, you can just place objects like furniture and floor decorations onto them. It's situationally helpful, but most of the time you'd just want to place those things directly.

I've not tried with the chess board, but other things work on the shelves and it's the same mechanism so it should work just fine.

There's an easy way to get around the partially sunken items. Use a poker chip, under the chessboard. Just make sure, when placing the chessboard on it, it doesn't drop down to the item below the chip. There's also a way to use the C.A.M.P. device, to get rid of the problem, but it's very time consuming, and VERY fiddly. I'd rather just use the chip, LOL!

How do you pickup the chestboards after? Since you can only place so many?

If you store or scrap the surface you're merging into you can get the chessboards back, but the objects displayed will go back into your stash. There's no way around that 30 limit though.

There's actually a combination of things going on there. The hood is from the Vault Survivor's outfit, and it's combined with the "smile" bandana. I don't know if the bandana is available anymore as it was a season reward, but there are a lot of alternatives. The Vault Survivor's outfit comes up on the Atomic Shop occasionally I think.

No. Weapons can only be displayed on weapon racks unfortunately.
