Probably the best Dartmoor KZbin channel. this channel deserves more views.

What a wonderful adventure!!! You put so much effort to "take us along"; I honestly feel relaxed after watching, like I've just spent some time in the nature (minus all the difficult bits of course, ha ha). 💚

Enjoyed this. Personally prefer immediate commentary rather than a narration over the top but still a great video. I'm now gearing up to go and "reclaim" Dartmoor after suffering a beasting 35 years ago during Royal Navy basic training. I'll hike a few miles, camp overnight and possibly find some of the places we visited, cook some food on something other than a hex stove and raise a beer from a cosy tent, rather than shivering in a huge tarpaulin sleeping several of us during a cold November week! Might take a hex stove for nostalgia though.

What a fabulous commentary of your walk! I've done many hikes and backpacking on Dartmoor will be planning a North to South hike next summer or as soon as the weather is better! Refreshing! Keep up the good work !

I always tell anyone who will listen that it's easier and quicker to follow the stone row to Three Barrows rather than walk the puffing billy track. Definitely wetter I'll admit but shorter and easier on the feet. The views from Three Barrows on a clear day are not bad either. The trick is not to miss the turning off of the Zeal Tor Tramway otherwise you end up at Shipley Bridge. You would have missed those scenes at Left Lake though so it's swings and roundabouts I guess.

Brilliant thank you. I had a goal of crossing the north moor this year (not quite as much as an achievement as the whole thing but to do with logistics and how fit I am not 🤣). Haven't managed it but we will next year I am sure. We also got 'lost' once walking up the East Okement (despite the fact we had done it several times before but they were some time ago) and ended up going up Moor Brook, was rather nice though coming out at Cullever. Don't know south of Princetown really at all (walking wise anyway), need to get down there one day. Thanks again George, looking forward to you next 'not a podcast' :)

Good to see I'm not the only one who gets lost on Dartmoor! On your first night you were at most 100m from a nice flat spot where I've camped a few times. Well done for completing it!

Really enjoyed this daft nonsense! So much more authentic and genuine than other videos. It's been an ambition of mine to do the North South walk. I would like to know how I get back to Okehamton from Ivybridge though? I've researched this with no success, apart from a train that takes more than two hours and and apparently there are no buses. Any ideas, apart from turning around and walking back! Love your quirky videos! Simon, Somerset.

Thanks very much! Yeah, public transport and Dartmoor don't exactly go hand-in-hand... it'd be Ivybridge/Newton Abbot/Exeter/Okehampton on the train and not much better on the buses. Maybe starting in Ivybridge and doing it backwards would at least mean you end the trip closer to home, although you still have the issue of getting to Ivybridge!

Loved watching this video George. I’ve ran most of that route 3 times on a north to south Dartmoor race. Watching your video has made me want to walk it next time and enjoy the views a lot more, rather than my eyes focused on the ground running. You’ve also answered a question for me, I’ve often wondered what the ‘settling tanks’ were at Red Lake. I’ve walked past them numerous times and often wondered but couldn’t find any info on Google 😁 Thank you again for a great watch 😁😁😁

Good work. No BS or grovelling, but this is by far and away the best thing of it's kind on YT I've seen. PS when you did that jump, my internet froze and I had to reboot. Very odd. PPS what bus did you get on for the return and why not the train?
