De Decker says he’s not ready, bottles it against Littler and goes out early in the worlds. Ranked 24. Heta, Jonny, or the Chizz all could have come in instead of Price, Aspinall, or Dobey.. De Decker was no chance and the PL is better off without him.

wgp champ, lost in a world class game agaisnt littler at the grand slam, quarter finals at the euros too, won on the pro tour aswell, rankings are based off of two years and aspinall is living of his matchplay, mdd should 100% be in, casual

If the OOM was the end all be all then Littler wouldn't have been in last year. Mike was 6th in terms of prize money in 2024 (plus the worlds) tbf and really how well they've played in the last year is what counts. I don't think he did enough to guarantee his spot especially since he flopped in the worlds but he was more deserving than his ranking suggests.

I’ll say it. Dimitri Van Den Bergh should’ve been in over Aspinall. And before the slow arguement comes, let’s remember we are talking about someone with dartitis, and Bunting (who 100% should’ve been in and wasn’t his spot) has a 15 second long routine he goes through every time he’s on a checkout. Also should be noted how little both Price and Aspinall did, with Wright, as funny as it is doing more than both of them over the last year whilst also being a massive fan favourite. All 3 lost at the QF stage if the worlds, and Wright has won a Euro Tour.

Should have scrapped it this year. It sells out regardless of whos playing and what format. So they need to consider the tv viewers more. Its an awful watch, same players same walk on music 3 times a night. About time they introduced relegation of the bottom 2 or 3, and bring new faces in each year.

@@stephenmuir6812 If they put it back to 10 players, they could relegate the bottom 3 for the following year. That brings in 3 new players every time. Also the current format is not too good if players miss a week. Playing once per night is easier to work around players falling ill.

Price and Aspinall quarter finalists. You can't really ignore that plus asp has had injury time off. I would of dropped aspinall for Joyce. He showed real class against Littler and was the only player that challenged him in the worlds. Best finisher in the world atm.

I think De Decker should be in, he’s a better player than Aspinal and price at the moment. He’s got the game to get to the latter stages of the PL. Aspinal needs to play more serious darts and stop fist bumping Littler.

It's a shame that a mediocre player like Mike de Decker is even in the position to ramble about the premier league, also a big hypocrite for changing his mind without the situation changing in any way in the meantime. There used to be 10 players (frankly, the old format was way more exciting imo), no surprise some people will be left out. I may be wrong, but I believe that De Decker is the lowest ranked Grand Prix winner in a long time. Other players were more deserving than Aspinall, and possibly De Decker too, when taking the year as a whole into account. As for Apsinall's walk-on, he didn't write Mr Brightside! All he does is wave his arms. Haha.

Compare the results in the majors (and price money overall) of De Decker (and also Van den Bergh) against those of Price and Aspinall in 2024 and it becomes very clear that the explanation given by Porter was utter BS.

Going on what has been picked before, I think you need either continued top level status, marketability or the ability to draw the crowds in. If you have all it is difficult to leave you out if you were in the last time. De Decker compared to the wild cards cannot complain.

Personally, I would've switched out Asp and put Mike in, even if his World's run wasn't great, he won the second biggest tournament of the year against the world #1 and had an amazing route to the final, and with Asp seemingly struggling with dartitis, it only makes sense to put Mike in

I like De Decker, always have, and with his Grand Prix win this year elevated himself to "my new favourite player" status followed by a strong showing in the Grand Slam. If he'd made a better run at the Worlds instead of going out to Woodhouse averaging 88 he may have had a sniff. But it's not like he's not in the Top 8 and missed out, in fact he's outside the top 20 so this is a complete non-event with both Heta and Chisnall having much better claims for the premier league than MDD, perhaps also did Anderson, both Ryan's (although acknowledge Joyce's reluctance to fly), and even Josh Rock too. I think Mike De Decker has become frustrated with Aspinall's selection for the PL. If they had picked someone else maybe it wouldn't have been so bad. From the Second Gerwyn Price and Matt Porter have made themselves look like debacles. For me PL could have played with this Format I don't know. 1001,One Week where they play with rival darts,Quadroboard. As PL is already a Showcase tournament let's play with this dar

Sure, especially Aspinall was a surprise, but DeDecker was not that great other than winning one major event and has no track record. I would have taken Heta or Van den Bergh over Aspinall, both would have deserved it more in my oppinion.

Aspinall never should've been picked and Price is a bit lucky although, despite his results, his level of play has still been pretty good and the prem does need characters. Also while I would've picked De Decker he can't feel too hard done by, he had a great 2 months but outside of those and on the biggest stage he didn't do much. If you want to get in as a lesser known player you have to play so well it's impossible for them to not pick you, you can't rely on only 1 good result (unless it's the world's of course).

Lets not forget van den burg won the uk open, edhouse won the european. I dont rhink littler should have been in his first prem league just because he made the worlds final 2024, but thats exactly the point. The prem league isnt neccesarily about winning... or even high ranked (unless youre top 4) its about what a player brings to the game. I dont even see the prem as a competition... its more about exapanding darts to the public and giving them a chance to watch popular players. If a player has the personality of a dead fish, like de decker, unless he makes the top 4 I cant see him being in the prem. To be honest damon heta should be more pissed than de decker i agree its weird price being there after slamming it like he did.... but like him or hate him, hes a character.... the type of player the premier league loves. I think they could expand the amount of players by a couple. But I still wouldnt have de decker there.

its funny... noone remembers edhouse winning european, van den berg winning uk, and how well damian heta has done last year. He claims aspinall had dartitis but the reason he had time off is that he had to have sonic therapy on his elbow. De Decker had a big win yes... but aside from a couple of others almost all his other money has come from PC floor events. Nathan has won a lot of money in EU events so hes obviously more popular. The prem is more of a way to get people to events to watch popular players than it is a competition. and saying "I dont think Im ready for the premier league" a couple of months ago.... definately didnt help. Price is there beccause hate him or love him... hes a character.... it cant JUST be about who wins, otherwise itwillget as boring as snooker

No for Dimi and Mike dd because since they won their event, they dipped…I remember Dimi went to number 9…u do really need to be in the top 10…chizzy is top 10 but dips in form..price blows hot and cold but said recently he wants it..decisions are made after ally pally.price did well he beat Clayton another top ten…price has big stage presence..asp does as well but he has had 3 months injury..I would have gone for heta because we need a big personality who represents Australia since Whitlock passing on the baton.
