Wow, I’m blown away…. I’ve ignored the interviews with Thom thus far because I just wasn’t interested in who was doing the interview. Now, I know exactly why I’ve waited so long. Thank you Darwin, I never expected this from you, but I definitely want more.

What a fantastic interview - I stumbled across Thom Pollard's channel while looking for info after the discovery of Irvine's boot, and was just so impressed with his integrity, not just for being a part of the discovery of Mallory, but for being the beating heart of that party, showing his sense of great empathy toward a man who had been lost for so long, a man that was as real and filled with the same allure for Everest as all who came after him. So it was truly fascinating to see Thom interviewed like this - this guy is 100% the real deal, a true soul who is quite literally the wise & heartfelt man of the mountain...then, to have the interview close with the discovery of Irvine's boot and Thom saying "never say never", it's all come full circle in the most serendipitous way...has Thom really hung his boots up afterall, lol? He's the embodiment of living history - thankyou for such a great interview!

Great video!! I was gifted the book "The Lost Explorer: Finding Mallory" while working in Colorado. It was signed by Conrad Anker. I have read many books on climbing, but that one i really have a connection with every time i read it. I was raised and live in new england, and have hiked many mnts in the area. It's good to see someone from the area who has a connection with the search. I really hope there's more parts coming.

Thanks for this Darwin, excellent stuff. To think I met you in Switzerland in July doing the TMB and now you’re interviewing Thom who “met” the one and only George Mallory! It’s my link to mountaineering mythology, Thanks again Darwin. Good luck in getting future interviews like this . Who knows we may bump into each other at Everest Base Camp!

I was enthralled with everything mountaineering in the early nineties. Read all the books and played outdoors. Got into the 1924 tragedy and devoured the findings when Mallory was found and opened up new avenues to read about and learn.. Then life did what life does and things chugged along. The discovery of Sandy Irvines partial remains grabbed a hold me and flung me back 25yrs. How did the time pass by so fast?? Anyhow my trips to the books stores are replaced by KZbin and I’m so happy to have found this interview. I think these stories need to be told, especially in this day and age where the world is all topsy turvy.

Sadly the Mallory's boots might have answered the question of did they reach the summit but they were not analyzed. However that may be answered by Irvin's boot. The micro particles on the boots (assuming they are on the boots still) can be chemically analyzed to see if they touched the summit rocks which are totally different chemically from the gray and yellow band rocks. I guess Mallory's boots could be exhumed and compared to Irvin's boot too.
