Awesome! Darryl and John were huge Temptations fans. I love Darryl’s voice. It’s not a coincidence that he and David Ruffin were friends. Two great voices! Check out when David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks performed with Hall and Oates at Live Aid

I'd recommend the song Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty if you like songs with saxophones

The constant rhythm is infectious. Then add the snappy tune. Finish it up with the sax and it's both smooth and slaps.

Takes me right back to Chiddix Junior High School after the school dances when we would all go to Garcia's Pizza thinking we were so cool because that was under the Illinois State University dorm, Waterson Towers. Pizza by the slice,, the size of a mini pizza for $1.25 a slice and hoping the boys we had crushes on would come over to our table and say hi to us.... This song was a must on the jukebox every time.

The link provides the background on this one . Joe Walsh lends his Guitar playing to one of Daryl Halls solo songs , "Somebody Like You" . I was watching this episode of "LIVE at Daryl's House" when they played this one . I was blown away & wondered how did this song NOT become a hit ? I found the studio take from Daryl's album and now I know why . It didn't contain Joe Walsh's solo's , which are damn near perfect . Joe plays so perfectly to fit the tone of the song . A real Pros -pro that gets acknowledged by Daryl & his band mates for his stellar playing at the videos conclusion . This is a song very few people will know of but I hope you take the time to give it a listen . Rock On :-) LINK >>>> www.soultracks.com/flashback-soul-daryl-hall-somebody-like-you

Maneater 1982. John Oates quote: "Well, it was about New York City, after the fact. I got the idea for the song because there was a woman who was very - she was beautiful but had a very foul, you know, vocabulary. It was the juxtaposition of this great beauty with this foul mouth that really kind of sparked an idea to me that she would chew you up and spit you out. But neither Daryl nor I wanted to write a song that was anti-women or negative toward women. So, what we did was we transpose that initial idea and use New York City in the ’80s as a metaphor. New York City became the man eater, the city that would chew you up and spit you out. And that is really what the song is truly about." MY FAVE "Ooh, she's sittin' with you but her eyes are on the door." 🚪 👀
