The only major critique I've seen of this whole series is that fans of the movie believed it would be more like the original one, solely because of the title... JUST FORGET ABOUT THE TITLE! It's a great WWII TV Series from the German side of things, the only major critique that I personally have was the ridiculous "Hollywood, fierce, sexy, stylish resistance woman" who OF COURSE was lesbian as well - fortunately she is only in one season out of four. I just finished season 3, and I'm really enjoying it

Having the submarine floating really high on the water shows how little the producers cared about authenticity. It would have water lapping over the deck and only the conning tower properly above the waves. They would want to dive quickly so the ballast tanks would be kept as full as possible so that less water would need to be admitted to dive the boat.

You're missing one very small detail: in that situation, you can't use the diesel engines, which means you'll have to rely on the batteries, and those only provide a speed of 7-8 knots, compared to 18 on diesel engines. Also, you def lose in speed and maneuverability in that position, uboat will be harder to control. Are you sure about this genius idea?
