Underrated legends - fresh and cool 'til this day - nobody diggity does it like Das FX
@hassafella2 жыл бұрын
Das EFX was huge back then in 92. They changed the way MCs rapped. They were one of the top groups out at that time. Everyone was trying to rhyme like them. They were apart of Epmd's super group called the hit squad. That "witty" rhyme style influenced a lot of rappers back then.

Crazy Drazy and Skoob are from Brooklyn NY and Tea Neck, N Jersey....Got discovered and signed by Parrish/ PMD of EPMD at a talent show at Virginia State University....they came in 2nd place at the show... LMAO...I wonder who won, and imagine telling that story to people...."We beat Das EFX at the talent show and won a stereo....they got a record deal".....

You Definitely got to React to Their Biggest Hit "We want EFX" That Song took over the Whole Hip-hop world When it came out. I don't know Who would Request This Song to be your first intro To Das EFX but they Dropped the Ball. "We Want EFX" Should be your first reaction to This Group.

@mecca1000Күн бұрын
Their rhymes are based around pop culture & tv references from the late 70's thru the early 90's. If you didn't grow up watching TV around this time, a lot of what they say will definitely fly over your head

Das we're true MCs. This was ther era where your style, delivery, cadence and all that mattered. Das got a deal from EPMD. They came in 2nd at a contest. The winners(whoever they are) got the prize money but Das got a deal. Shows how nice they were. One of them is from Brooklyn the other is a Jamaican from Virginia. Obviously they repped for Brooklyn. Back then rap battles in the street was heavy. You could find a cypher with 100 or more dudes all the time anywhere in NY. Dudes did NOT want to battle them. They were destroyers of men. This is what BARS supposed to sound like

Fun fact on the sampling tip: This song samples Skull Snaps' 1973 "It's a New Day" drums, Joe Tex's 1966 song "Papa Was Too" drums, Zapp's 1983 song "I Can Make You Dance", Kool & the Gang's 1973 hit song "Jungle Boogie", Parliament's 1976 song "Funkin' For Fun" vocals, James Brown's 1973 "The Payback" (Intro), Bobby Byrd's 1972 song "Hot Pants - I'm Coming, I'm Coming, I'm Coming", Biz Markie's 1988 song "Vapors, James Brown's 1973 song "The Boss" intro, Please's 1975 song "Sing a Simple Song", and Carl Carlton's 1981 song "She's a Bad Mama (She's Built, She's Stacked)" (Intro), while the remix is built around samples of One Way's 1982 song "Cutie Pie", Digital Underground's 1990 song "The Humpty Dance", Lee Dorsey's 1966 song "Get Out of My Life, Woman" drums (as sampled in X-Clan's "Verbal Milk", which contains the 'uhh' sounds), ESG's 1981 song "UFO" sirens, and The Village Sounds' 1968 song "Hector".
