Man. I completely missed out on this experience as I was on a 125cc for too long! And this kid is a natural!!! My first lesson I literally sat down on a cbf600 and started to go round a small circuit to get used to the weight. I had been on a 125 for about 8 years and had done about 20,000 miles mind you. It was lovely to ride a 600cc engine compared to my crappy 125cc. And the gearbox, so much smoother than my cbf125 too. Finding neutral was so nice on the bigger bike. So easy. Glad to say mods 1 and 2 were straight forward with no minors on either. Instructor thinks a lot of that was because I’m a car driver and have had a 125cc for a number of years before deciding to go up. I’m thinking about doing advanced classes to help me be a better rider with my 650 v strom.

I think its down to the examiners discretion but I would say it would be a failure. Its not worth the risk. I would ask @RJHMotorbikeTraining but the examiners tend to be more strict than lenient as they are trying to teach you to ride safely and accurately.

Like the bloke, he is so calm and explains things politely and clearly, when i’ve done mine 10 yrs ago? The instructor was an absolute prick towards me and others, and that prick is the reason why me and 2 others never bothered with taking tests any further than 125cc, he was rude and way he would explain things was as he was talking to himself? Or tell you half of the stuff and expect you to know the rest. Just a plain idiot.. Will give it another go soon and this time go straight for the 600cc and above but definitely will change the learning centre..

hi, this may be an odd question. but do you know if it is possible to get "lesser" qualified categories added to your entitlement on your license, I'm on a bit of a mission to fill the license with every category? I have a full A class but am wondering if i can somehow get p (full moped added to my license) im sure if you get CE it will allow you to pull any trailer on all other categories C,C1,b,b1,D,D1 and they all show on your license so why not on a bike ?
@jandsaccessories30
@jandsaccessories30 5 жыл бұрын
You would have to check with the DVLA I think?
@benmarshall4202
@benmarshall4202 5 жыл бұрын
I think it's because P isn't actually a Motorcycle category. P is pretty much a historical thing now anyway, an AM licence (which an A covers) is the correct licence for a modern moped (since the speeds have been restricted to 28mph).
@happynotnormal
@happynotnormal 5 жыл бұрын
P no longer exists only AM in its place. You do not get the A1 A2 etc filled in upon passing A. The reason is that A1/A2 are restricted versions of A. A covers all possible versions of restricted or unrestricted / derived from powers and or weights of machine etc. Because A covers everything if you were also shown to have a restricted license riding an unrestricted machine having both would mean that although your category A license would cover you to ride (for argument sake) a fireblade your A2 license would not. Therefore you would, in respect of your A2 licence, be driving otherwise than in accordance with a license, for which you can be sent to court. No the DVSA won’t fill them in for you because A covers you for AM A1 A2 machines and sidecars and motorcycle trailers. The potential confusion is just not worth it. Lorry’s and stuff are different. Passing Cat C (rigid sup to 32 ton) begets you your C1. The thinking being that if you can deal with the 32ton truck you can deal with the 5 tonner. It would also be stupid if you could drive things up to 3.5 ton and over 7.5 ton but not things between the two. In a nut shell they are distinct categories and motorcycles have subcategories. Don’t ask me why. Slightly oddly now you can pass your cat c in an automatic and get a full manual license. Which is odd because although C1s have a car like gear box and cat c manuals have proper lorry gearboxes which take more skill to use. I digress though. By virtue of having passed cat C in an auto you get a full manual C1. However if you pass in an automatic c1 you are restricted to automatic C1 vehicles. I don’t make these rules., same is true of D and D1. Cat c+e will get you a full trailer entitlement for every other category you have, except motorcycle because that comes with the bike license anyway.

I did my licence in the summer of 2019 at the age of 35, I failed my MOD1 five times before I nailed it. Couldn't get the swerve test right, failed 3 times on the speed, literally 1kph too slow. Clipped the cone twice.. I realised I was looking at the examiner on the approach through the speed sensors instead of the outside cone. He was standing in the same place as when doing the emergency stop, so I was looking at him each time, until I did my 6th test and realised why I'd been getting it wrong. Wish I'd seen this vid before I started learning. I did nail the MOD2 first go tho. Only 2 minors.

A lot of this seems to be based around vehicle control. When I did my car driving test, I had ample time to practice on the road in an appropriate machine. Does the law allow you to practice on the road for DAS on an appropriate machine?

Hi guys. I am 29 from north of ireland, I recently redone my cbt which expired a few years ago and also don't my bike theory to prep for doing the DAS. I contacted the DAS instructor and they said I need to do a second cbt on the 650 before I can start the course?? Does this sound right? Because it sounds to me I am being scammed out of £200+ on an unnecessary second cbt? I thought the whole point of doing lessons was to learn the bike better, not doing another cbt.. I contacted them to start the DAS and get some training in before booking the mod1. Thank you guys I hope to hear back 🙏
@jandsaccessories30
@jandsaccessories30 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, all you need is a CBT, Theory, Mod 1 and Mod 2 to have a full licence. If you have already completed your CBT then you dont need to do this again. As far as im aware anyway.
@garythecarwashkid
@garythecarwashkid 2 жыл бұрын
@@jandsaccessories30 thank you very much for the reply. This is what I thought also, when I done my cbt again I told they instructor when I booked it that I had to redo my cbt so I could start the direct access course after. Then as soon as I completed the cbt he told me, before you do the direct access course you need to do another cbt on the 650cc, and a further £200 which I had just paid for my cbt. This made zero sense to me. In my region there are just 2 instructors and they both claim I need to do a second cbt on a 650cc before I can start lessons on my direct access course. Seems to be a money grab scam here in North or Ireland which is pretty frustrating as it is already hard and an expensive process to get into riding bikes here in the UK/Ireland

Not sure if this will get answered because of the age of the video, however does a bigger bikes engine slow down quicker when you back off the accelerator? I.e more engine breaking?
@jandsaccessories30
@jandsaccessories30 3 жыл бұрын
Engine breaking is a huge factor with motorbikes. it really depends on the motorcycle and the tech on that particular bike as some bikes now have systems for you to dial in how much egine breaking you want. But mostly yes the bigger the engine, the more engine breaking as its more air being forced into a smaller place and there is also a difference between V-Twins, V4s and Inline 4 cylinders and Single cylinder bikes. A big single cylinder bike will have more engine braking than a 4 cylinder as the determining factors for the amount of engine braking are the displacement of each piston and the compression ratio, not the fuelling method. The manufacturer of bike you are interested in should be able to help further. But I hope my ramblings are of some help to you.

When would it be suitable for someone to enrol onto DAS training? I know there are a lot of factors and everyone is different but typically can those over 24 jump straight into DAS training after completing a CBT or is it a must that they own a 125cc first and gain some experience. Can we do this on a 400cc or is that different i want to ride a bandit 400 im only 5"6 so manual handling a 600cc no thanks. Unless its a skinny supermoto type. I reall y want to test myself last summer my neighbor brought a cbr1000 i never knew he rode bikes so i asked him and he said he doesnt. He rode a 125 pitbike then brought a race 1000 cbr exhaust under the seat and everything he looked sketchy start of summer but was flying by end of summer i could hear it alot screaming then he sold it all good. A summer of love. My brother rides an R1 and did his CBT then just brought whatever bike he wants. He went slow tho 400s 600s now R1 and says hes done 195mph on it and the road turns blurry the only thing he can see is the white line which is a white line that fast. sO WHAT HARM CAN A 400 BANDIT DO ME REALLY. I cant afford everything ide rather get saddle time then pay for my papers cheaper. But its a risk isnt it get pulled over then i pay more anyway ill probably die either way tbh sooner or later so why mess around get it over witth. have fun. Suck it and see,

This delay and breaking my arm on my DH bike has set me back a fair bit and now my Theory test is out of date which means doing all the tests, CBT and training again. I cant yet afford to undertake the training and tests agian with the world being how it is at the moment so it may be a long while before I get on a bike again. Shame but there are much worse things happening at the moment. RJH do vidios of training all the time. Check them out if you want to see more in deapth videos on what to expect taking your test. I was told by my trainer to do 1000 miles on my Varadero 125 XL before doing Mod 1& 2 then left it for 2 years lapsed and the next trainer said do Mod 1 " when your bored with the Varadero " what are your thoughts?

@ Must have missed that though heard that before. Hopefully I'll be able to master the slow manoeuvres then !!. Unable to practice obviously for now (Covid 19) plus no schools open and all DVLA tests postponed so irritating with the weather so good !!

Hi there, Unfortunatly I broke my arm pretty bad on my mountain bike. Im just about to get back on the bike but it has taken me a fair while to get full movement in my wrist. Hoping to get the test done very soon. We will try to film it but with the current Covid-19 situation Im not sure if that will be possible. But we will do our best. Have a nosey at RJH's channel as they have lots of fantastic vidoes reguarding training. Thanks

You don't have to go around the first cone in the slalom you enter between the first and second no need to make it harder on yourself.

Number one thing about driving motorcycles especially high powered is not to drive when angry lol. I did and nearly died, well it was my fault since I was pulled out on and was my right of way… but still could of been avoided if I wasn’t angry and driving like a twat.

You NEED a cbt certificate to ride a 125 on L plates and to do your mod 1. If you look at your driving licence online for moped or motocycle categories it is clearly stated that you can provisionally ride a 125 on completion of a cbt course its called compulsory basic training..... think compulsory kind of means by law you have to do it. And you need to do a training course to be an instructor for cbt courses.

Alot of motorbike instructors seem to think they are police or really cool and wild because they did 90 down the motorway once!!!!!! Just joking they normally ok just bit pompous.

"We're not going to hold him back". Then spent 10 minutes wandering around the bigger bike talking about it - and pointing out the heated grips!?! A 1-minute chat plus a 5-minute ride around the pad would soon show the differences. Come on instructor - get on with it! I guess this is partly for the sake of the video - certainly hope so! Can't believe the instructor walked so close to the bike on the figure of 8 - very off-putting. Holding the back of the bike during the trainee's manoeuvres - what's that about?

I think he was close so he could help catch the bike if it toppled because it was the guys 1st time on a bigger bike. Bit unathadox but everyone teaches different. I wanna know if the guy got his licence or not 🤣
