Really refreshing to see from the instructors perspective. While the learner is doing it by the book, the instructor doesn’t do a single lifesaver or observe the two second rule because he knows all too well how unnecessary they are. You know when you need to check, there shouldn’t be a quota for how many times you should be looking behind you every ten seconds.
@callummclaine91604 жыл бұрын
I think it’s not helmet cam, maybe Lifesavers are unnecessary. But a 2 second rule is great for newer riders, as it enables them to have enough time to react to stuff they never would of reacted to before.
@akrim7774 жыл бұрын
When you're a learner there is a certain way you need to do things so that you're up to the 'standard'. With experience, you can adjust your riding style. Just because something is good or ok for someone advanced/experienced doesn't mean a newbie can do it safely.

@Google_Does_Evil_Now2 жыл бұрын
7:28 we can see the instructor's head take a slight dip to the left then right then back up and then it closes the distance to the student. I think the instructor has just checked his mirrors. Also other road users will see 2 motorcycles in high visibility waistcoats. Other road users are likely to be more careful towards these two motorcycles. "Examiner" or "Instructor" in big letters. Do you think the examiner/instructor is focusing on the learner so they cannot do their own lifesaver in case they miss something by the student?
@Google_Does_Evil_Now2 жыл бұрын
19:40 car overtaking as you're both doing 30 in a 30, while going past a junction on the right, a parked car to the left forcing the novice to move to the right, and having a vehicle opposing approaching. And it probably says "Instructor" or "Examiner" on your Hi-Viz. Some people. That car driver could do with a retest, or some other punishment.

Great video for a beginner. One thing I'd change is at 5:50 you tell viewers to maintain the centre of the lane using counter steering. It feels highly redundant as counter steering is the only way to steer a motorcycle (well, except for turning the bike using feet while standing and riding off-road). Counter steering applies at all speeds and to both motorcycles and bicycles. I really hope that this "only counter steer at speed" myth will go to rest soon.

Sometimes it strikes me that the lifesaver left when indicating left at a roundabout is a bit superfluous. You are not changing lane and the attention should probably be the space to the right. I suppose it depends on the roundabout as well, but my CBT instructor said always do the lifesaver where the space is. Edit: When I did my truck licence the mirror check was always left to check for things such as bicycles or motorcyles. If you are on a motorcycle, you are going to see anything joining as you go past the previous entrance so it just strikes me the lifesaver left is taking a full half second attention away from where the danger is.

Same haha, it brings back good memories and I want to help others if I can. I'll never forget going in for a theory test just to see what it's like without revising because I figured hey it's only 15 quid and I'll just see what the process is like never expecting to pass but I passed it! I was so over the moon but the questions were really common sense tbh plus I had my driving licence so that helped but still that pushed me to go for the bike test. I'm still a bit surprised how it all worked out in the end but the best decision of my life to go for that theory test. 😁

I bet loads of people who aren't locals are caught out by the bus-only road at 24:13. I had to rewind the video to see why the rider was going left, because if you miss that sign it's too late. I looked it up on Street View - it's in Redditch, just south of the train station - and there's what looks like a little slip road for lorries to turn around. I wonder if it'd be a fail if you went down that road, or just a minor if you immediately turned around again.

Wow. The riding test in the UK is legit. In the US, state of Utah at least, we just do a bunch of different maneuvers around cones in a closed off parking lot and get our license. Lol
@itsalex37005 жыл бұрын
Wait really? I watched exams in US and though it was incomplete video or a joke: Where is the road test? Are you seriously telling me they dont require it in US? :D
@FarukAskar5 жыл бұрын
Exalted Me lol. I’m dead serious. There’s no road test. UK’s MOD1 is our only test.
@itsalex37005 жыл бұрын
@@FarukAskar Jesus, so by their standards people are pretty much eligible to drive on the road huh lol. No wonder there are so many fuckfests and accidents with motorcyclists in usa. On the other hand, less chance to screw up, unlike here where you also have to ride on the road for half an hour. so im kinda jealous that is half as easy lol.
@FarukAskar5 жыл бұрын
Exalted Me yeah, I’m pretty sure people need to get their driver’s license before they are eligible for a motorcycle endorsement. Not sure what the reasoning is for not having an actual road test, MSF is the organization that regulates these things so if you want to learn more you can look into that.

Passed my Direct access in 2014 aged 40. I had somewhat of a misspent youth where motorcycles are concerned and hadn't ridden since age 19. Did all of direct access on a Fazer 600 including my CBT. After one slalom through the cones on a 125 my instructor was happy that I wasn't a novice and bunged me on a 600 where I stayed until passing Mod 2. I had a total of 4 hours of training, 1 minor on mod 1 which was for being 1kmph under the threshold on the hazard avoidance even though my speedo actually said a whisker over 30, I'd been doing it faster during training but wasn't taking chances on the actual test. Mod 2 was a clean sheet. Since passing I've only had a couple of bikes. First a rather predictable ER6f 650 twin which was probably a good choice, I ran that for 3 years then bought a brand new MT09. I kept that through a short marriage, a shorter divorce and an unreasonably long knee jerk to a virus which amounted to about 6 years total and last year I chopped that in against and took delivery of a brand new MT10. Great video. Takes me back. "Left leg down, right leg up." 😇

Very informative take no notice of the detractors, I must have leaned at least 3 new things watching that. As far as I could see the test taker didn’t even get a minor. But it’s all new to me so perhaps you might see it differently in which case I’m willing to learn...

Just passed my mod 2 today on second attempt. Happy to say no minors. Lots of drivers on the roads made my job quite a bit harder. Only advice that I would like to give is , ride for yourself, don’t worry about where the examiner is positioned. Imagine he or she is just a voice in your ear.

I took mine in 1976 and it was pretty much the same, but as it was raining he spent most of the test inside the building as I rode around the block a few times. As for the emergency stop, he stuck his hand in the air when I was at least 100 yards away.

I’ve been told I have to do both shoulder checks before/ after stopping, manoeuvring etc along with a lifesaver- even pulling out of the test centre… which seems a hell of a lot- whereas this rider doesn’t seem to do that only one over shoulder every now and then and some life savers

When pulling out of junctions or at roundabouts do you need to consider how the examiner can stay directly behind? What happens if you get separated?

@@MotorcycleRidersHub Absolutely, just ride your own ride and ignore what's behind you until he tells you to stop! Our courier company was bought over with the new owners demanding that all motorcycle couriers take a "refresher test". A twenty mile circuit of the city on A roads, B roads and motorway which was loads of fun in our local area after he told me where to go and to make progress. I knew all the traffic light sequences etc from years of experience and even filtered a few times leaving the instructor calling over the radio to stop and wait as I'd lost him.

My instructor asked me to pull over to the left hand side and stop when it’s safe to do so. I did that but she went mental as I done my visuals, braked and then moved to the left. How should I have managed it? Observations, moved to the left and then braked?

I am going to try for the test but following my sons diagnosis of learning difficulties some years ago, I am utterly petrified! I now realise, at sixty, that I have just the same issues going on. I always assumed I was just a bit gormless but now I know that I have to work out left and right each time and I have difficulty retaining instructions. Sadly I don’t display any obvious overt symptoms so I sound like I am making excuses having never been formally diagnosed!😂. I could sense the instructors frustration when I did my CBT. I think I only got a pass because I agreed I probably didn’t deserve one! Wish I had done the test the first time around when it was a solo drive that if you survived then you passed!😂

I remember my test nearly 40 years ago High Barnet in North London. I can’t believe this couldn’t be done years ago. The examiner stood by the roadside and asked you to do a number of left and right hand turns. He move walking along the route to an area of a roundabout. It’s just reminding of the comedy sketch.
