We NEED MANDATORY 15 year minimum sentences for crimes like STOLEN VEHICLES and Robberies with NO age restriction. Maybe if we can keep these criminals in jail longer than it takes for a baby momma to make a new criminal we might stop the cycle. These were armed robbers and the cops should have gave them some forever sleep before the endangered the public with their actions anymore.
@Sam-dt1kg Жыл бұрын
Keeping them in jail will do nothing but further the cycle. As it stands the system is not built for rehabilitation, nobody in jail cares about getting them the help they need, especially when they are finally out. Once they leave the jail nobody gives a fuck about them, they don't even make sure they have a ride home... IF they even have a home to go to... What do you think happens after 15 years when they finally get out of jail? They got no college degree, no highschool diploma, no GED, most of the times no friends or family cus people cut ties when shit like this happens. Now they are in a whole new world (compared to the structure of prison), with a massive amount of debt and nobody to stop them from doing the same dumbass shit. Do you really think they are gonna turn a new leaf and get their GED and go to a trade? Or bust their asses at McDonalds to pay off that debt? NO! They are gonna double down and do the same stupid shit or ramp it up even more. Do you have any idea how many people go right back to jail after they get out because they have no idea how to handle themselves in the real world? I don't believe we should turn our backs to these people. Most of the time they had no structure growing up, and started bad habits at a young age because nobody was there to stop them. My mom died shortly after I was born, and my dad worked hard, long hours to provide for our family, which means he was rarely home. If I didn't have my sister and friends to guide me, or if i had gotten into the wrong group of friends, I would have probably been doing some hooligan shit. Not saying I would have committed armed robbery but you have to understand this doesn't just start out as armed robbery. They probably had a childhood filled with neglect and hatred. Can you really blame them for how they were raised? Alot of people have sociopathic tendencies but depending on the environment they can either grow up to be Ted Bundy or they can grow up to be Elon Musk. Its all about the environment they were raised in. I believe we should try to rehabilitate prisoners rather than disregarding them entirely.

@MrNicholas7 Жыл бұрын
I don't blame these officers for making mistakes or stumbling over radio communications (they had way too much to handle), but there's a reason it's procedure with other police forces to have a secondary unit calling out the chase over the radio. The lead car should be solely focused on chasing the suspect, not looking for street signs, trying to figure out which directions they're going, or repeatedly telling everyone why they're chasing the suspect and that the road conditions haven't changed minute-to-minute. The passenger officer is great as another set of eyes for clearing intersections, and obviously is there to back up the officer when the pursuit ends, but they have just as little time to react to what the suspect is doing as the driver does.
@Internutt2023 Жыл бұрын
The problem was, apparently they are the only car involved in the chase . At one point, the perp swerved to the left to try to swipe the door of what looked to be a parked police SUV, maybe hoping to hit the door as a LEO tried to get out and injure them, but, the unit that was chasing had a driver with mad skills, and like someone pointed out, the suspect did manage to accelerate faster than the cruiser, but the cruiser always kept up.
@enid0mom Жыл бұрын
City cops rarely have to look for street signs. They drive those streets every shift and know them by heart most of the time. They have a map in their heads so that other cops following the chase can predict fairly well where they might intercept him. You could see cops several times guarding intersections to prevent wrecks. That is in spite of all the twists and turns he made. Each cop doesn’t know the entire city in that detail, but they know their patrol area. When watching a chase like this, it is hard to remember the cops are on these same streets every shift. You could tell the driver was getting more and more desperate and a wreck was inevitable.

Are these patrol units not GPS mapped and tracked to the communication center ? 🤔 It amazes me that the units location/position still has to be broadcast and relayed verbally through a hand held mic, (usually with a single officer driving one handed in a pursuit) with today's technology ?
@Internutt2023 Жыл бұрын
With the speeds of some pursuits, the GPS could well be 3 or 4 turns behind real time. It would give a general reporting area of where the chase is, but the lag time wouldn't make it a useful tool for "real time" locating a lead vehicle. You have to remember that, although your google maps or waze on your phone is real time location, ( they do well at legal speeds, but I can imagine it starts to lag over 100MPH, which is illegal to drive at outside of a race track, but might be common in a pursuit) once you parse that through your software, the upload and download to whatever system/s are tracking it remotely, the software in that computer/s and the processing speed and graphics update speed all add lag time. That's why helicopters, or drones, would be best for calling out a location, which you see them do in some instances.
