Not the DC drivers fault but going 45 inside lane last a clearly stopped van at a green light isn’t the smartest either. Just lifting the loud pedal for a second and coasting would have wiped off around 5KPH and probably would have avoided the accident once they saw the car turning. I know 20/20 hindsight is a great thing - not the cammers fault overall though.

From the waiting car's point of view, the coast was clear when the van started turning. (Yes, that was bad driving on the part of the waiting car.) DC should have anticipated the likely pull out and preemptively slowed down.

6:55 - I live near that roundabout, and it's a bastard in the wet. I was a delivery driver at one point and I saw countless people almost do this exact same thing when it was raining. Kinda hard to see on the footage, but not flat, and it kinda dips and rises right where that guy lost it. Something about the camber of the corner makes the front tyres lose grip really easily, and that guy went into it about 20km/h too fast. Slamming on the brakes going full lock certainly didn't help.

The driver “swerved…but drove in a high stress situation avoiding massive jerking at the wheel, which given the conditions and the high Center of gravity in the DC vehicle, could have easily spun out for sure. No, THAT was excellent avoidance given the situation AND wet conditions. I take my hat off to the driver, very well done keeping that vehicle under control.

Spend some time on a motorcycle amongst the larger population of car drivers and you may appreciate why some act in a way you think is being a "dick". I could assert a lot of car drivers find it difficult to see other cars, even parked ones (as proven by the unending parade of these dashcam videos) A lot certainly don't see bike riders (motorised or pedaled)

For those not in the know the clip from 13:15 reported in the news was on Monash Freeway I believe and in total was a 16 car pile up. 2 cars are completely written off. I don't know about injuries or anything else though.
