Yep guaranteed. A friend of mine had a worker driving down the road, slowed down for a speed hump and proceeded, doing about 40kmph. A car pulled out of their driveway, crashed into the side of his van and then tried to say he was speeding and that's why it happened. Unbelievable, insurance assessor knew straight away he was lying, failed to give way.

I run a medium truck and a heavy, i see so much stupid stuff that i had to install my dashcams about 3 years ago so i dont cop one of those claims. funny thing is my old man tried to convince me over a decade ago to install them, i thought 'nah, im good, i drive safe'. should have listened back then. thankfully i havnt had any prangs in the trucks X-Wood. i drive pretty confidently but also drive quite defensive as well. I see most bad drivers and situations a mile away. Its like a 6th sense now. Thats also why i love watching these dashcam australia videos. with what disjointed sense you see a double tanker turning a corner and you squeeze in the middle. Anyone past their red Ps knows that when you see a b-double indicating from the far lane you need to get out of the way from inner lane and in both lanes leave plenty of distance to let them manoeuvre, I don't drive a truck but some of these bends people cut corners cause they're tight for their tiny cars imagine with a 6-8m tail behind. I simply don't get what games people play....I've seen way too many idiots doing this in Sydney and in Canberra and thinking they're in the right cause the truck was taking space.....grrrrr

Saw a beauty many years ago outside Waverley Gardens, Melbourne. A truck was pulled off to the side of an approaching road and just behind it was a somewhat concertinaed Civic and there was a light pole on the corner with fresh smears of paint (the colour of the Civic). It was quite obvious what had happened - the truck was turning left and the Civic tried to squeeze past on the left and suffered the result. No ambulances evident, thankfully. I acknowledge that what was evident does not automatically mean that the civic was trying to pass etc but what was displayed certainly emphasised that passing trucks - when they are turning - is not a good idea!

For a video titled _"What truck drivers put up with daily"_ there were a few clips of *'Other drivers putting up with trucks'* Like 4:15 - Sure _"don't drive up the inside of a turning truck"_ *but* the truck was specifically using the left turning lane, not both, yet tried to cut into the right lane, even though the turn was wide enough to stay left. 6:29 I think it goes without saying that if you're not prepared to stop for a red light, especially in a heavy vehicle, you shouldn't be driving, let alone being paid to drive. 8:02 Like that van had *any* indication of what that truck was going to do... The truck went far left, the car behind turned left, the truck pulled right & cut the van off, then did about 70% of a u-turn and immediately started reversing... the arrows on that intersection say 'Left, Straight *or* Right' not 'do all three'. 9:07 What's that? Someone cut up the inside while you were turning? Well just block two lanes of traffic so you can stop and chuck a wobbly at them, that'll help...

He is legally in the right of way, and completing the turn controlling the trailers behind him. Yes he could of stopped, but he legally did not have too. Yep I'd say the truck drivers contributed to about 1/3 of these. I'll add: 0:35 Truck didn't hit his wheel brakes at all. Just compression brakes. Couple of seconds could have made the difference. 1:05 He knew he was there after the first hit. From then on he was putting the car drivers life at risk. 1:16 This only kicked off because the truck was cruising in the right lane all along the m5. 2:05 b-double overtaking from 2 cars back? Come on. 4:25 Yeah the car driver was a dick for going up the inside, but the truck didn't have to go to the right lane after the turn and isn't entitled too 8:50 Similar to the last one. Why didn't the truck go to the right lane? Looks like he started in the right lane. Yeah, a lot of car only drivers can behave badly around trucks, but quite a few of these truck drivers contributed to these.

Truckies have changed over the last 30 years. One anecdote: I drove the Brisbane Sydney route at night to avoid traffic. Every 10 minutes a truck (speeding) would come up and sit on my arse at 110km/h! It was extremely stressful and road bullying. I would pull over as often as I could safely do on a single carriageway to let them pass. Then the next bully would come up again. I lost a lot of respect for truck drivers that night.

Fun fact; speedometers are usually out by 5-10km and in fact display a higher speed than you are actually travelling. The higher speed the more dramatic the affect is from what I've noticed as well. Whilst driving trucks myself I set up a GPS Speedo to give me a relatively more accurate reading, depending on location, signal and weather of course. Now in saying that as well I will note that the trucks I drove most of them did have a 100km/hr speed limiter and the dash would still display 110km/hr but when compared to the GPS Speedo in reality I was driving at 98-99km. Half of the people doing "100km" on the highway are usually not aware of the inaccuracy of their speedometers and in fact are sitting between 85-95km majority of the time.

Before anyone thinks that what I replied with is meant to invalidate your experience or comment, I agree a lot of truck drivers are bullies and attempt to use their size and weight as an excuse for their bad driving and poor behaviour. However there are a lot out their that do work within the law and try to give others plenty of space but no matter how good a driver they are, they still have to deal with other incompetent drivers that either don't understand or care about the risks involved when taking on a heavy vehicle.

In my opinion that DGL truck at 8:04 was in the wrong for sure - yes the van should have been a bit more cautious but there was no way he could see that truck was about to reverse. it looked like the truck was trying to do an illegal uturn at the lights. The truck should have approached and reveresed into the driveway from the parallel road (on the correct side of the road of course) not driving directly straight and uturning from the T (headfirst is fine from the T - if able to safely reverse out of the premises with a lollipop man or turn inside the premises)

4:20 is the VERY reason why they have the signage telling you to NEVER overtake a turning truck. It doesnt just mean on a straight stretch of road, but also includes on dual turning lanes. The reason being is that in back end cuts into the next lane, and any bogeys (other trailers) will cut in even more. As to that last one, that truck driver should have just left it be.

Truck drivers really are professional victims, aren't they? Go for a single drive along the M1 between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and in the space of that short 90km drive you'll find truck drivers tailgating less than 1m behind cars, speeding, changing lanes without indicating, changing lanes regardless of whether it's safe to do so, multi-lane merging, unnecessarily refusing to let other motorists merge in a filter lane causing them to slam on their brakes, among so many other things. Truck drivers are the most impatient road users alongside taxi/rideshare drivers because they're always trying to earn and/or save a little more by shaving a few minutes off their travel... But the moment one person momentarily inconveniences a truck, the truck driver in question turns into a Victimised Karen in about 0.31 seconds.

I'd say the head on by the car when it moves to overtake the rig that has broken down negates your argument straight out, plus the two u turns which were done with less than sterling attention to other road users. Most car drivers simply do not do enough miles to actually be competent behind the wheel in all traffic situations and more importantly all weather situations, the tests are inadequate to assess a driver in anything other than daylight and also need to include testing on how to approach trucks or bus's when they require extra care such as junctions due to their greater length. When I drove bus's we used to call it beat the bus syndrome, the car driver HAD to get in front of you even when you were exiting a stop and were moving to rejoin the lane and thus would be overtaking a 12 meter vehicle against on coming traffic. The risk involved is considerable, but the reality is the car driver would blame the bus driver for doing their job rather than accept responsibility for their own poor driving skills if they hit another on coming vehicle.

Most "truckies" try to do the right thing and probably work long hours every day. I have no issue with those guys - they have families and common sense (2 thumbs up).
