True, but some of these semi vids are screwed up. A lot these guys are speeding, and considering how heavy their car is, they're the assholes. That's from personal experience. Sometimes its the other way around. One thing for sure, the video where he doesn't let the the driver over is screwed up. Your car is 30 ft long, and sometimes you don't expect a merge, shit happens. If youre in a semi let the person over. What's your endgame, you kill someone? Also, you're on the clock so you'll be fired, potentially arrested or sued.

Tailgating is illegal, simple. This is where brake checks came from for all you youngsters.
@AeyakS5 ай бұрын
Looking at it, relative to the front car, the distance didn't change a single bit during the "brake check". It was basically barely touching the petal so the brake light appeared, but didn't actually slow the car. I think the fault of the vehicle crash falls entirely on the rear car for not even attempting to slow down but instead making a reckless maneuver. If it was a brake check, it wasn't intended to be an insurance scam at the very least. Most likely the vehicle was being pressured into driving faster than was safe due to tailgating, and so slowed down slightly where the rear vehicle made an extremely risky maneuver instead of properly slowing down.
@lekrieg86185 ай бұрын
@@AeyakS im not arguing for or against, im simply saying that it was a brake check. Whether or not the car actually slowed down AT ALL is irrelevant. He touched his brakes and thats what mattered. @@TheIT221 Most of them are American though. Very few arent
@pretzelbomb6105 Жыл бұрын
@@TheIT221 Theoretically, it's a good idea. Every once in a while during a long drive, tap the brakes to make sure they still work. If they don't, you now know before you needed to slow down or stop, which is the worst time to learn they've gone out. Practically, a well-maintained car can very easily go its entire life without a catastrophic brake failure. It's a bit more of a concern for tractor trailers since they constantly carry heavy loads, but even then it's an uncommon thing at worst. Of course, none of that matters in the slightest since nobody actually brake checks to check their brakes, they just treat the brake pedal as the horn for people behind them. I assume it stems from people stopping suddenly on foot to let someone walking behind them know they're too close without considering how the consequences of a collision differ between the two situations. And, of course, some people are just trying to scam your insurance company.
@randgrithr7387 Жыл бұрын
Our roadways are poorly designed, with plenty of inside-lane exits, small/no acceleration ramps, and unoptimized lane mathematics. While our drivers have zero highway training, no passing discipline, and no cultural bonds for people to think "Hey, that driver is another human being like me."

@@Brandumb no no no, that's not how driving works. It doesn't matter how fast or slow someone is going, it's up to the person entering the other driver's lane (I. E. The person crossing the road) to ensure that they can make it safely across. Having lights on makes no difference... And going slow across the road in this case is actually worse, but that's all irrelevant. That would be like pulling out and stopping in front of someone who is going 60mph on a highway and saying "well, he was speeding, that's his fault for running into me". The person who enters the other driver's lane at any point is the one legally responsible for ensuring that he has clearance. This is directly out of the Drivers Safety Handbook. It's the law too. In 99.9% of cases, the driver that rear-ends another driver is found to be at fault by default. You are legally required to keep a safe braking distance from the vehicle in front of you, the only exception to this is if the person attempts to cause an accident as part of an insurance fraud scheme. Basically, unless the person in front of you is committing a crime, you are responsible if you rear-end them for any reason.

@DingoXBX2 жыл бұрын

@adityanair56132 жыл бұрын
honestly the tailgating and speeding past isnt bad, the law is that the left lane is only for passing, so the cop would be in the wrong, and most cases if a vehicle is not getting out of the way the car behind just goes a little closer so the car ahead can see them and move. (ofc tailgating really close for a long time is also bad) Speeding past is also okay because often cars just camp in the passing lane, and wont move even if you get close to them. But the brake check was completely unnecessary.
@iAmTheBuilding2 жыл бұрын
@@adityanair5613 I disagree on severity. Speeding, tailgating, and brake checking are far worse but mostly out of precedence. They are also against the law. Though it is the law to move over (in most US States) when you are not passing there are far less issues with staying in the passing lane. While speeding, tailgating, and brake checking are frowned upon across the board. They also are more quantifiable, where staying in the passing lane can be subjective. Particularly in the clip where it looks like the cop had possibly just passed someone. Even in my state, which has a move over law, you have to congest about 12 cars before a cop would even consider pulling you over for riding in the passing lane.

2:38 That big yellow sign just means lanes merging ahead and the right lane must yield if necessary to safely merge. the truck cut the car off by speeding up their was nothing wrong with what the car did it wasn't forcing his way into the lane he was just following the lane as it merged ahead so he has to move into the trucks lane. Which would have been a seamless and safe transfer with no need of yielding because their was enough clear space to make the transition safely the truck was the one trying to forcibly make the car unnecessarily yield by speeding up. the truck driver speeds up at the same time. the lanes start merging cutting the car off there was totally enough room for the car to transition over with no problem if the truck didn't speed up. the car is ahead of the truck and isn't expecting the truck driver to speed up and cut him of. Not to mention the truck driver almost rear ends the white truck in front in the process. After that was road rage from the car which I can understand because the truck could have sent the car off road easily making it crash into those trees. The truck speeding up turned that situation unsafe. Even if the right lanes suppose to yield he has no reason to speed up to the point he almost rear ends the white truck in front to force the car to yield.
